  1. Past hour
  2. Iron, Lion, Zion - Bob Marley
  3. I do but your profile says you’re in California and I’m not willing to ship internationally sorry. Unless it’s California, Falkirk 🙂
  4. Absolutely bert, thank you, they really were special and such an inspiration
  5. JJ Burnel, Lemmy, Geddy Lee - in that order. It worries me that I may not have progressed particularly far in the subsequent 45+ years.
  6. That’s such a great groove, two true masters at work. RIP Sly, an absolute legend in music. I bet the pair of them are blazing one up right now.
  7. Nicky wire - archives of pain by the manic street preachers. I didn’t realise bass could be that distorted and aggressive, very influential as a teenager. same with Breed by nirvana. Honourable mention: Timmy C for all three rage against the machine albums. Super solid, chunky and groovy basslines and great unique tone.
  8. There's always a solution...
  9. Marathon - Rush
  10. I spotted one of these last week. Naomi MacLeod had one on her IG. Not sure if she used it with Biffy or not. I like the look of it..
  11. It's born for funk and rock music! Thanks to the ramp and 35 scale it manages to maintain a relatively low action and can be played also with a... "physical finge style"!
  12. It's pretty, but whoever decided to use a cloth grille obviously doesn't have cats and are unaware that speaker cabs with cloth grilles are excellent scratching posts. I wish they offered a metal grille as an option, especially if they're making them in-house now. I recently bought a new RM800 EVO III - the input gain control is borked and I'm going to have to send it off to get replaced. First time I've ever had a piece of Ashdown gear be unreliable, and I've been using them on and off (mostly on) for 24 years now. I should have held out for the new UK-made one!
  13. Hi Folks, Very sad to let this one go! Fabulous resto by CARLSIM on this Bass well documented here: https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/479078-xotic-xjpro-5-string-sold/#comment-4973009 Additionally there is a blog and Carl has kindly offered to answer any questions if required? So I bought this in from Carl in June 2023 and it has never left the house whereby apart from a fettle and my setup, a set of USA Dunlop Nickle wound brights 45/130, new batteries and several polishes it is exactly as before! Plenty of info and reviews out there and I can 100% confirm how good this bass is! Does all the Jazzy things you would imagine plus has some very unique tones of it's own due to those incredible pick ups, very playable neck and balances well. Cash is king, not really interested in trades, however a nice J/MM 5'ver with 18-19mm spacing plus cash might tempt me? Meet within a reasonable distance preferred or I can courier strictly at the buyers risk and expense albeit my packaging is legendary lol! Plenty of more detailed images if you click on the link in the above text. Had a few weight requests so I tried two scales: 9lbs 8ozs on the first and 9lbs 9ozs on the second, not heavy for an Ash body IMO and it balances well! Just remembered, there is the original Xotic gig bag with it, bit of stitching around the zip adrift but otherwise in great nick! Gaucho 5 IMG_0026.MOV

  14. Today
  15. some people believe in tone woods , some do not I got a thing about Wenge but no data or science - just a vibe
  16. Bought a year or two back, I only plugged and tested before picking up a helix lt, so has been in a drawer since. Looks well used though, no rubber feet, just velcro. Price includes postage, throw an offer in if you think it's a bit on the high side.
  17. Hiscox used to sell padded pockets designed for this purpose...
  18. That's a lovely bass, don't think I'd ever see a blue bodied Aria before, though I have seen a red one with a blue headstock... Replacement neck maybe? Anyways, gorgeous bass, hope you get it back to gigging condition.
  19. Living in a very old house with wooden floors, I've been using the Auralex and then the Harley Benton with great success to tame the bass end of amps a lot.
  20. Yes, my conclusion was pretty much the same Terry. When I visited the Store I'd hoped to have tried several different models including the (what was then) new model Broad Bass plus the TRBX. Typically they had next to nothing available. The TRBX604 EQ wasn't bad but, like you, it felt quite toy-like and didn't over inspire me. On the train back to Cornwall I kept telling myself I'd get to love it when I plug it in. But I didn't 🙁 The TRB5 looks a different animal ? I think I'll short list it. Thanks again, Terry 🤗
  21. That's why I use tea towels. 😄
  22. Geddy Anthem Geezer's intro to N.I.B. Lemmy's sound on Hawkwind's Space Ritual
  23. I loved the tone on all along the watchtower in rattle and hum. I didn’t know it was a p bass, it just sounded heavy and preponderous at the beginning and then I listened to how it sounded under the chords, driving it all along.
