Bridge string spacing adjustment help please
neepheid replied to Grooverjr's topic in Repairs and Technical
According to my callipers, the hex key I have is 0.061" or 1.55mm across the flats, or 0.0675" or 1.71mm at its widest. In a pinch, a T6 Torx might also get in the corners of that hex and turn it, being that it is 0.066"/1.68.mm point to point. We're talking tiny differences here - might work, might not depending on how well made your T6 is. -

Cool, I have an original US synth. Extra resale! Who knew?

No. This is what my guitarist said when I told him of the court case. We're both from Leicester btw. Oh yeah he's well known amongst theatre musos. Plenty of local musos have been ripped off by him. He runs a few theatre shows - Carpenters, Robbie, Queen etc. Tim's done a handful of deps for him but insists on payment upfront to his bank account. Probably earning a fortune as the shows all do really well, and loads of dates too. He once borrowed a bass from someone and promptly sold it! He had a caravan which he rented out. Took the money then cancelled the bookings without refunding! Serial fraudster for years. You have actually met him - he introduced himself to us whilst we were packing away at the Harrow years ago. I didn't know anything about him then but I distinctly remember not liking him & thinking he was a t**t! Bout time he got his comeuppance....

For sale is this fender deluxe high mass bridge. Part number: 0081460049. £60 posted in the UK This has came off a p bass I bought that I’m restoring to more vintage specs hence no need. In very good condition. Not quite sure which models this bridge was used on- some sources say on hot rod/ deluxe models but I can’t seem to find a photo of a production bass with one on (maybe someone can?) This is an excellent very similar to the currently used American pro ones with unique ridged saddles for excellent stability. specs: Machined chrome plated diecast bridge with a massive sustain block on the back end. Strings load only through the back of this block. Each bridge saddle is height adjustable with two allen head screws and length adjustable for intonation with a single phillips head screw. There are two slots milled into the base plate for the allen screws of each saddle to keep 'em from moving around laterally. Bridge mounts to the body with five screws. The bridge plate measures approx. 3.225"X2.231". String spread .857" from slot to slot, approx. 2.310" overall. attached also a few stock photos I found.

Gillett Contour basses are rare and very special, but this one is unique! It's the actual bass that the guys from the American magazine Bass Gear played on the Gillett Guitars stand at the Summer of 2019 NAMM show before declaring the Contour 'Best Bass In Show'. The ST had been launched just before the show and instantly became the most popular bass in the range combining as it does the 'pickup-plus-piezo' configuration in the slimmed-down 'S' body. The first batch had immediately been shipped to impatient customers - me included! As I was helping Michael Gillett out with his sales, marketing and PR, he asked me if I would lend mine back to him so he could have one at the show. Bass Gear played several Contours but it was the sounds of mine strung with the optional Newtone phosphor-bronze round-wound strings (still fitted btw) that really blew them away - see below. So what exactly is it? In summary, it's an active medium-scale (31.75") electro-acoustic with through-body stringing, a J-style pickup at the neck and a piezo transducer under the bridge. But it's the innovative design and construction combined with the finest components, materials and build quality that makes the Contour so rewarding to own, play and listen to. Playing as I do rock and pop covers on solid-bodied basses, I've hardly played my Contour - which is why I've decided to let it go. I'd really prefer the buyer to collect as the bass comes in a gig bag*. Happy to drive an hour or so from J25 of the M5 for a meet-up. * The OE Gillett hard case was made to accommodate the deeper-bodied Standard version and packed out with a thick foam insert for the ST. This made it needlessly big and unwieldy so I took a £200 discount instead of the case. https://www.bassgearmag.com/issue-22/
