  2. It was discussed in this thread back in August. The general consensus then was that the bridge is by John Birch, and the rest could be anything. If it was a genuine JB it would have had John Birch pickups on it when it was originally made, and I can't think of any sensible reason to replace them.
  3. Simple but effective, the Steve Rodby bass part for the tune 'Last Train Home' from the 1987 PAt Metheny Group album, 'Still Life (Talking)' https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/last-train-home-pat-metheny-group/
  4. Gisho signature. Light and comfy bass with cool features.

  5. Beautiful polish custom shop. Massive sounding barts. About 4,6 kg - price to pay the beauty and the tone. Like new with all the case candies.
  6. We Built This City! - Starship
  7. Me in Lille recently having a hard-earned espresso - I'd been pushing my mother about in her wheelchair for miles and didn't get a single step for it wot with my hand not moving!
  8. I came across a drum (kick, snare, tom) specific gate/noise reducer a while ago and it seemed too good to be true, but I wanted to try it out and when I noticed they had a Black Friday discount on, I pounced. I wasn't expecting to get tax added afterwards, but nevermind. It's Silencer by Black Salt Audio. Currently down to $39 (plus tax of $7.80) from $99 and I think it's an excellent bit of software. It really helps you get some extra definition if you're struggling to get clear hits from a drum recording. It feels a bit like magic when you're using it. https://blacksaltaudio.com/silencer/
  9. Various Source Audio midi adapters etc: 1. Midi Neuro Hub. Control Source Audio pedals via the control inputs and a midi controller. With appropriate cables. £25 each posted to you in the UK 3. Source Audio tap tempo switch. With 1/4" output to work with just about anything and a TRRS 1/8" to work with control inputs on SA pedals. £25 posted to you in the UK
  10. I've had this on my bass for a couple of gigs but I've not needed the single coil option so back to a humbucker. In excellent condition with just very slight signs of use. All parts and packaging present apart from the instruction leaflet but it might be lurking in my shed somewhere. If not use this https://www.emgpickups.com/pub/media/Mageants/4/0/40tw_0230-0139rc.pdf £90 posted to you in the UK
  11. I can’t believe nobody hasn’t snapped this up at this price! It’s absurd. I’ve got one for sale myself and I’d never let it go at this price. If I had the spare cash I’d buy this! Either, folk haven’t used one of these or, everyone is being more than coy with their money. You will never really need another amp or effects, this covers it all. Absolutely baffling.
  12. Orange madness. maybe the most versatile MM bass there is, thanks to 4 band eq and 18v pre. Just lucky enough to have a “better” basses so something needs to go.
  13. Apologies if this has been done before, but I just came accross this on Gumtree. https://www.gumtree.com/p/guitar-instrument/1970s-john-birch-fretless-thunderbird-bass-handmade-in-the-uk/1504913094 Its apparently a John Birch build from the 70's but the only thing that I can see on the bass that looks remotely genuine is the bridge. That looks like Birch in house hardware. The pickups the seller says are non orignal, in fact they seem to be guitar pickups, so thats a bust, and the machine heads could be anything. There is also no Birch branding at all on the thing, which is unusual in my experience, John normally got his name on every single piece of hardware on an instrument and the headstock too. Anyone have any thoughts as to what this might be?
  14. True american legend. All maple, 1992, 4,8kg. Has a Q filter. Resonates and sustains for days.

  15. Amazing looking bass. The holes below the bridge pickup implies it had a MIDI pickup fitted in the past.
  16. There's several that others have tried and used with success. Pirasteo Permanentt, Tomastic Belcanto are some. Both warmer than spiros, permanents are a bit brighter than belcanto Mind you, this will have to be a trial and error to see what works for the bass and for you.
  17. Very nice! I’ve never played one but I’ve only heard good things about Sandberg. Enjoy!
  18. Great work! I have an open seam and been thinking about fixing it myself. This thread definitely makes me question if I had the patience and perseverance to do just a fraction of what you've achieved there... I'm subscribed for this!

  20. Selling my CV Mustang bought off @Loz back in the summer. I really wanted a short scale mustang as I love the look and the tone, but despite giving it a fair go my sausage fingers are proving too much for the narrower string spacing and shorter scale. It's in excellent condition, not a nick or dent on it apart from a small scuff to the top of the headstock and some very low level tarnishing on the bridge/tuners. I've fitted a new set of Labella Mustang Flats before deciding if it stays or goes and these are pretty much brand new. Looking for £285 - happy to meet up within reasonable distance or can post if buyer sorts a courier (I have a dedicated shipping box from Andertons I can use to send and it’ll be well packed) Thanks, J

  21. Best post I've read on here for ages.
  22. Well, if you buy off Aliexpress you do have to keep your wits about you and I certainly don't believe the branded products for sale there are genuine. However, with eBay you pay a buyer's premium (sorry, "Protection Fee"); I'd raise a dispute, citing them bein fake/not as described. Similarly, if you buy something on Amazon and a fake turns up then there's recourse by contacting their CS via chat/callback. As for Hercules wall hangers, I think there were issues with them a while back and I wouldn't have them anyway. That said, they are often used in shops.
  23. Rome Wasn’t Built In A Day - Morcheeba
  24. They are impressively loud and clean sounding amps. Good score!
