Just another reason Reverb's the place to shop
binky_bass replied to jd56hawk's topic in Bass Guitars
I had that exact message too... The email you get that informs you of a message has a button you can click to report a fraudulent message however that link only takes you to the message itself where there is no option to report! Reverb are notoriously terrible at managing spam and scams... They, like most large Internet based companies, employ about 4 people so cannot actually manage incoming spam without an AI based system, and their system doesn't work! Whilst I have successfully sold via Reverb, it is not a platform I can recommend at any level. -

There's no point to the wretched things. They're only there to cover over the front routing, and if the control cavity was rear routed instead, they could be done away with. They're just there to show that your expensive bass has been made as cheaply as possible. Harley Benton can manage rear routing of a bolt-on bass for £155, you'd think other makers could do as well for basses costing ten times as much. -

Great idea, necessity is the mother of invention. You really shouldn't put yourself down like that though. Words have power, especially those that we say to ourselves. Be proud of yourself for inventing a new way to keep yourself playing. Result! 👏👊

Mine arrived the same - 3 years ago almost to the day according to my camera reel, so it’s not news to them. I asked at the time about why it had changed and was told that it was to preserve the look of a vertical two plus one stack with new logos. Personally I wasn’t thrilled but decided I didn’t care enough to seek any remedy. Glad to read you’re getting yours sorted out!

Origin Effects BassRig Ampeg B15 Fliptop recreation

Was OK but the EQ bands are not the same as the pedals they are meant to be emulating in the Ampeg SGT-DI. -

I recently picked up a pair of ATC SCM7 for around £500 for Hi-Fi use - they'd make great little monitors with a suitable amp, but they're very small and don't go very deep (though what bass there is is wonderful) We have huge ATC SCM100a at the studio, which you've heard, so I'm very spoilt! But at home I have Neumann KH150, which are also absolutely superb. I have the smaller Neumann KH80 as surround speakers, and when one of the KH150 went down last year, I had to work on the KH80 for a while - for their size they are absolutely remarkable, and apart from bass extension and max volume, it's not as much a step down from the KH150 as you might think. Moving back and forth between the Neumanns at home and the ATC at the studio don't reveal any big surprises, and you certainly don't hear a £15,000 price difference! Neumann monitors are really very good, with an unhyped polite character that's not far removed from ATC. A new pair of KH80 are over budget, but I don't think you'll find anything else that's truly worthy of being called a 'monitor' for cheaper - they really are that good. And of course, if you want more bass down the line, save up and get a KH750 subwoofer ☺️! On their own, the bass is impressive for the size, but they ARE very small! I'm smitten with the small SCM7 too - I don't need more low end in my lounge, they're perfect. Let me know if you'd like to borrow the KH80 to try out - I don't use them much for work.

Ibanez EHB 1005 MS £750 Excellent condition, just some very small marks that won't show up on photos, a shop could probably get away with selling it as ex display or an 'open box' return. With Ibanez gig bag. 3.4kg. Bought new less than a year ago. Collection from Chichester, or I'm in Central London on Mondays. I have the Ibanez box it could potentially be posted in if (will add a photo of that once I've retreived it from the loft. I just remembered I should add some ID to the photos too so will do that later). As a 5 string I think these are hard to beat: Clear 35" B string, even tone across strings and comfortable to play the multiscale, erganomic and about as lightweight as any 5 string you can get - but still well balanced with no neck dive, compact for carrying and using at pub gigs with small stages, a lot of different tones, passive/active switch, stays in tune, decent 3 band EQ with sweepable mids. These are great basses with just two annoying things: Fret markers are difficult to see and the locking jack socket needed two hands for you to remove the cable (one to press the button in and one to pull the cable out) which I found a faff. I've addressed both of those: Glowtec Lumo fret stickers (removable) and I took the small spring out of the socket so it doesn't push in to lock (I still have the small spring so it could be put back in). I keep buying these Basses (this is my third one!) when I feel I 'need' an active 5 string, then after about a year I feel I 'need' a passive 4 string...no particular reason, sometimes there are some new songs for the band that require the B string and then sometimes a whole set with no need for it gets me thinking a 4 woulkd be better, but mostly it is that I'm just just fickle! I'm always a one Bass at a time sort of person, I don't like swopping between different ones especially if different scale lengths or amount of strings and I always need to sell a Bass to fund the next one so I continue the annual cycle of selling 5 string to get a 4 and vice versa. I have seen one specific 4 string Bass I want, I might remove this advert if that sells first.....and this time next year when I feel I 'need' an active 5 string again I'll probaly buy one of these again!
