  2. I returned one to Andertons on Friday so they might put that back up for sale. They also had one in their pedal display cabinet. it was a great piece of equipment and very easy to use, but ultimately I felt it was overkill for my needs
  3. Up for sale is this passive Sterling by Music Man Pete Wentz signature StingRay bass in a very eye catching Fiesta Red finish. I had a change of heart and withdrew my 40th anniversary Squier Jazz ad recently, so have put this up for sale as although I love it, it's the bass getting used least with my band and I've recently bought another bass. This is a very cool, passive StingRay in fantastic condition (small scratch on the back of the headstock pictured in the only sign of wear), with one of my favourite necks I've ever had on any bass. Roasted maple, stays straight throughout all seasons and feels great in the hand for those who like a chunkier bass neck. This also comes fitted with Dunlop Straploks and crucially; high quality Schaller BM tuners to replace the stock tuners which were to be blunt, utter garbage. As a passive bass with a single humbucker with just volume and tone controls it's less versatile than a regular StingRay, but it sounds great and it's a snarling rock beast that you can also get a lot of mellower tones out of. You will get most tonal variety from how and where in relation to the pickup you play it, rather than the tone control to bring out the dynamics of the fat sounding pickup. Also comes with a good quality Ritter gig bag; has a broken handle (as pictured) but all other straps and handles are in good working order. I would much prefer collection in person or half-way meet if you're reasonably close to Brighton in the South East. However, I do have a sturdy cardboard box to send this in so could look into sending at an additional cost to the buyer, and at their own risk (as it's not in a hard case so can't be insured by courier services).   7. Thanks @rainbowreality. I do use duck duck go most of the time, but for some reason there are times when google has more options . I found the folk at Glued to music really professional and friendly. They were doubtful that the screws they had were suitable. I would contact them again if needed ! I have a friend up north who is always super busy ,and who runs his own guitar shop. I managed to make contact with him yesterday , and the replacement screws are on their way !
  8. More power means more heat which generally means bigger enclosure and more fans. Im using a 600w head and that has three fans on it so its big and its heavy and it was expensive (£700 when new). 200w is plenty for pub gigs and thats all most people want. Ive only got a 600w head because I like Ashdown ABM's and couldn't find a 300w head locally at that time. I guess small amps must be big sellers otherwise manufacturers wouldn't make so many of them
  9. I'm 12 hours in and love it. Does the StingRay well but with a bit more zing I'd say, similar to you I have 3 StingRay specials to compare to. It also does the Jazz thing and the P thing as well. I'm very impressed so far. Superb recommendation from Bassdirect.
  10. My initial keenness on this have died down somewhat for me. Seeing how you need to long press multiple switches to change presets killed it for me, means I could never consider using this live without a separate midi footswitch strip, which goes a long way to defeating the point of the smaller footprint and may even cost more than just having the full sized version. I've managed to mess up preset switching just pressing one 😅 Its looks great for use on a desk or midi driven rack, but otherwise I just don't think 4 switches is enough.
  11. First one back for the new year as vox was away in January and we were a guitarist down, so there was a bit more space to fill but generally went ok. Good crowd singing and dancing so that was good. We had a rehearsal last Monday to clear the cobwebs and check adjustments for songs minus a guitar. I decided to run: bass->Anagram->Baby Sumo->Barefaced BB2 and with the Anagram di’d to the PA but got the usual amp and spare out anyway as I had a previous issue with the Baby Sumo (not repeated since) so wanted to be prepared. No problems last night and it sounded great in the wild and through my IEM’s. Massive cramping in my fretting hand in the last couple of numbers which was a trial and I ache this morning. Now I’m away for some r&r after a crazy couple of months at work, and I get back just before the next gig so will be going into that with no rehearsal and a couple of weeks not playing
  12. Its unusual but I definitely dig it. Weird is good. U2 and Coldplay are what you get without weird and thats bad.
  13. Sanded the headstock back and aged it a little to stop it looking like new (it was a nice deeper colour due to its age). 2 coats of gloss lacquer and it’s ready to apply the decal.
  14. A bit like standing in a station watching the departures board - supply times in the UK seem to be slipping back. I think GG has shifted from 02/02 to 13/02 and now end of the month. Probably not too surprising given global demand but I look foward to seeing real-world reports and reviews from UK users

  16. Have to say that I'm really suprised this is still here given it's one of the Indonesian made models and it's had some very nice mods done to it... Gotta say, it makes me think of this, which is undoubtedly a good reference point (for those of us of a certain age and musical persuasion)... GLWTS 👍😊
  17. For me programming patches is the best bit. It's the whole point of having a synth. IME most pre-programmed synth patches have been designed o show off all the features of the synth and usually aren't actually much use in real world situations. And those that are any good tend to have been over-used by other owners of the same device. Whenever I get a new synth I'll spend an hour or so going through the pre-sets normally being totally underwhelmed, before diving in to program something that is actually useful to me. However agreed with FM programming. Back in 1983 the other synth player in my band bought one of the first batch that arrived in the UK. He would spend hours tinkering with it and eventually come up with some fantastic sounds. I couldn't get anything I liked out of it and I wasn't massively impressed by the ones supplied. Nothing since then has changed my mind.
  18. It’ll take full scale, the biggest issue is the gigbag you use. I did travel for a while with a Fender Mustang in a Gruv Gear Edge and it was great. A short scale certainly won’t be sliding about in it, it’s a tight fit with basically anything I’ve put in it.

  21. I've got a Django 5 - really superb bass. Does the Stingray thing well (and I have 2 Stingrays to compare) but offers additional versatility (I very rarely solo the MM pickup on mine). Light, punchy, very high quality build and fun to play. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine.
  22. I can vouch for Glued to Music, I've used them a few times. Very fast delivery and never any problems. They're also on eBay but tend to be more expensive there Not sure if I can vouch for Google though, use DuckDuckGo instead! Oh, and PayPal used to be owned by Peter Thiel, absolutely awful right wing libertarian geezer
