  3. Morning Folks, Am having a rethink and refresh on the bass rig front, so this beautiful piece of Mesa Boogie engineering is back up for sale only I'm looking for £600, or near offer. See above for all the superlatives to describe this amp, but suffice to say, it sounds superb, with intuitive and comprehensive e.q., and more than enough power and headroom for most gigging situations. Postage isn't an option, but collection or meet ups in and around Bedfordshire SG19, where I live, or London, where I work, are both welcome and possible. Thanks for looking and have a great weekend! Nik
  4. Just goes to show that with genes and environment on your side anything is possible! Also growing up with all that awesome kit available in your own home - a far cry from the Hohner instruments into my stereo that I started with!
  5. Please stop putting temptation within easy reach. Both this and the Stingray are lovely. GLWTS
  6. I bought a Markbass Micromark from Roberto. Great item, great price, perfect comms, immediate postage, an all-round absolute pleasure to deal with all the way. Thank you!
  7. This is a great bass and I'm quite tempted to get it back! The original preamp was great but I missed the fact it didn't have a passive tone control, the same way the main Sadowsky preamp has. The RSDs preamp is basically the same but doesn't have the VTC which is quite critical to the Sadowsky sound. The glock preamp cam well recommended as a cheaper option to the Sadowsky as money was tight at the time. It's clean sounding, nice and transparent and a versatile preamp that really supports this bass.
  8. Any interest? I want these gone if possible…
  9. How about £500 delivered?
  10. Bump for any interest.
  11. How do people know? They often don't, they just think they do. If you've got a cheap bass that sounds deficient it's not necessarily the pickups or the preamp that makes it sound deficient. It could be shortcomings in how the bass has been designed and built, the structure of the bass itself. If the bass is active and has a preamp you can bypass and it sounds markedly better when doing so that can be a sign that the preamp is poor or knackered, to use the technical term. If the pickups sound very weak or hum excessively or both then they might be either rubbish pickups and or faulty. Overall, if you play bass unamplified and it sounds lively and dynamic and if you then find that isn't reflected in the amplified sound that can be an indication the bits that produce the amplified sound are not up to the job, but working out where and why can take a bit of investigation and experimentation. Throwing money and replacement parts at an inexpensive bass won't necessarily remedy your dissatisfaction.
  12. This maybe in the wrong topic mods?
  13. I was one of the lucky ones who got my money back, after I posted a picture of his house telling him I knew where he lived. He even pretended to get the police to phone me to ask me to stop! What a whopper. Hope he gets everything coming to him, horrible f***er!
  14. I have a couple of sets of custom in ears I had made by Inearz audio in the states, was years ago and they’ve been great but recently they seem to fall out a wee bit and are not as isolating. I suppose over time the old lugs might have changed any tips on how to get a better seal? The sound great but …. I could tape them to my head but I might look like a weirdo!
  15. I think it depends what you need, the OC5 has a lot more options of course, but the ‘vintage’ mode is never going to be ‘better’ than the OC2. It’s an excellent approximation of it though, so if you have use for all the other guff, the OC5 is great. If you literally just want a -1 and/or -2 octave and that’s it, get an OC2 (if we’re just discussing those two). Always ignore the OC3 🤣 Si
  16. I can still see two comments regarding Mick's criminal activity.
  17. You are spot on…I deleted some attachments from old posts and that sorted it.
  18. I was up in Morecambe last week to give this a try. Sounded excellent! It's got some proper mojo. I had been concerned about the damage on the back of the neck but you cant feel it at all, or at least I couldn't. I opted to go with a 74 I found at a dealer. GLWTS mate, somebody needs to give this a good home!
  19. A pretty easy trial is to bypass the preamp. Then you can hear the signal from the pickups only. If there are hi-Z (passive) components like pots and capacitors between the pickups and amp, they also have an effect on signal and sound. Every hi-Z pot is a tone-like LPF that cuts highs. I would like to add that strings and setup (including pickup height) are also two important parts of the sound.
  20. I agree! Why don't you holiday in lovely Barry Island for a weekend. You could go on the Gavin and Stacey tour too 😁
  21. The channel owner must be glued to his 'Puter, because he is removing posts pretty much immediately.
  22. I didn't know about this. Sick of junk cables from big brands who simply farm them out to the cheapest Chinese supplier. I do like a decent cable, properly made and just the right length. Mmm.... Look forward to seeing them at the bash and talking more.
  23. Report the YouTube channel and link them to the evidence they’ll take the channel down.
