  3. I've got weights for four Squier necks without hardware - three of them Jazz-width, and one a five-string: 824g 827g 829g 868g Surprisingly, the fiver is the second-lightest! I'd hang fire on changing the bridge until you've got the neck and tuners fitted. Those paulownia bodies can be so light that you need a heavier bridge to counter neck dive.
  4. Psycho Killer - Talking Heads
  5. It would bother me if I'd paid full price, in expectation of the bass I received resembling the marketing images. A lot less so if I'd blagged a mega-bargain example. I'd quite like one of these, but me being me, it's unlikely to happen unless that mega-bargain turns up. And it's green.
  6. I had the use of, I think, a Hofner Galaxy with tapewound strings in the early '70s. It looked exactly the same as the guitar version. It sounded OK, but it was really comfy to play. Of course, then there was my often repeated moan about buying an original 60s Violin bass for £50 the 80s. Kept it for a year and sold it for.........you guessed it......£50. If only I knew
  7. Sandy Slaw (I am going to ignore the rude variations, because she's such a great singer)
  8. Back facings Now selected which one of the planks i got from the skip to use and have made a rough lay out from the template to get a good match up of the grain and avoid the worst of the scuffs and blemishes. The pieces are well overthickness (18mm vs the target of 10mm) and there is a slight amount of cupping to deal with, so fun to be had with the planer over the festive break. Pics below are the boards as recovered from the skip and a rough lay out on the best of the boards.
  9. Looking to sell my Mesa Walkabout Scout 112 valve combo. I bought it with every intention to use it, but in reality all gigs I'm doing at the moment are all IEM/FoH jobbies and it's only current use is in the home, which of course its overkill for! Would like to hang on to it, and happy to if it doesn't find a home, but the money would be better invested elsewhere. In very good condition, some minor scuffing to corners, a scratch on one of the amp handles and a corroded screw on the bottom radiator but otherwise in beautiful condition. All works perfectly and sounds fantastic. Comes with its original cover too. Of course, this model is the one where you can slide the Mesa head out and use it with whatever rig you please if you fancy it, and the price for the head alone is great! I can't imagine needing more volume at most gigs, and the low end is absolutely HUGE. I'm not going to post this so will happily arrange to deliver or meet somewhere depending on distance, I'm pretty much smack bang in the middle of the country. Trades, I'd consider modern PJB combos but that's about all amp wise, open on other gear. Cheers!

  10. Reduced to £325. This is more than worth it for the fuzz and filter circuits alone before all the bells and whistles!
  11. Having replaced this very lightly used (never left our smoke free home) Roland Vdrum kickpad with the the extortionate KDQ-8, this is no longer required. So it's up for grabs. If required, I could post it if we work out a price. It's in excellent condition and working perfectly, and I'll clean the dust off too (only just noticed !) Any questions, let me know.
  12. Mint condition Boss GKC-DA interface for controlling and playing Boss 13pin units VG99, GK33, GP-10 etc using the newer GK-5 pickup. i.e. SERIAL to 13PIN I'd already sold my GP-10 by the time it arrived, so it's never been used. Lived in it's box, in a cupboard, in a smoke free home. Still boxed with PSU. Willing to post. Any questions, please ask. This may be also be advertised elsewhere.
  13. I’ve never tried one but maybe I should
  14. Love everything about it. But with car insurance renewal coming up, it's a bit out of my budget!
  15. When I first got mine I was gigging it quite a bit but as my show work ramped back up and I started to play my 35" scale basses all the time I noticed I was getting muscle memory issues when I swapped back / forward - so instead of hand position being instinctive I was having to think about it / concentrate on that rather than the chart / the conductor etc etc. And instruments should be played so this needs to move to a good home that is going to play it all the time !
  16. Pedal bought from Ashdown as I love their signature range - and It's Guy Pratt - who doesn't like guy Pratt ?? But apart from testing it it has sat unused in it's box. So lets find it a great home. Comes with all the "case candy" including the unused rubber feet. Note that it requires a good quality 18v power supply.

  17. I’ve seen a lot of the violin basses being used in bands over the years, a couple quite recently. None sound all that great probably mostly due to bad eq on the amplification. However very sad news. Hofner guitars are part of my childhood.
  18. Hi This belonged to my father-in-law. It's from 2014, runs Android 4.1 (ish) and works. It doesn't have the propriety power cable needed as it appears to have got lost in the house clearance. These are £4 from Amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/TECHGEAR-Cable-Compatible-Samsung-Galaxy/dp/B00ADV2YM8 It has about 50% of the power on it and has been factory reset. No scratches and it's clean and tidy though it looks grubby in the pictures. Its not It comes with a box. This is not the latest and greatest Android tablet. It works and I think it can be upgraded to Android 5 and possibly further with custom ROM's. It might make a good media player or similar but I wouldn't expect it to be a viable alternative to a modern tablet. Happy to post for free and you will get it for Xmas (assuming Royal Mail works) Rob
  19. 28.7fps is a somewhat unusual frame rate. Can your phone be set to use something more conventional like 25fps or 30fps? Audio generally doesn't have a frame rate until it is linked to a video track when it should take on the frame rate of the video. Check the sampling frequency of the video and audio files before they have been imported into your video editing program. It may be imposing new frequencies on one or the other. Otherwise the only thing I can think of is that the reference clock on one of your recording devices is off. I would tend to suspect the phone over the Focusrite interface. Recording a reference point at both the beginning and end of the video is a good idea. If you could do a 1 minute long clip and let me know how far out the end points are in terms of fractions of a second? Also can you run both audio tracks together in your video editing program and check that they sound in tune with each other?

  21. My social life is the gigs. You mean there's more to having a Social Life. ? 🤩 Dave 🎅
  22. Definitely US. This came from a parts bass made by a Sadowsky employee. No real markings on it to identify as such. The pickups were scrubbed out and headstock left blank for fear of repercussions. I still have the neck - Brazillian rosewood fingerboard, Graphtech nut, Schaller tuners.
