  2. I had some success using an Akai MPC as a Live Bass effects unit, it has a Tuner, Amp sims, lots of live effects with more parameter controls than most effect pedals have, all relatively easily edited via touchscreen and assigning knobs. There wasn't noticable latency. The main downside was it being relatively large and not being 'stompable' e.g. couldn't stomp on/off effects mid-song. So it could potentially sit on my amp for always on type effects but always seemed a bit big/expensive/complex for that vs just using a cheap Bass multi-fx like a Zoom MS 60B. So I never actually used it live for Bass effects but it seemed perfectly possible. I don't own the MPC anymore but I do like using hardware for sampling and drum stuff so am eyeing up the Roland SP 404 MK2. What is helping to convince me about it is that it seems quite a capable unit for adding live effects - basically using it as live multi-fx unit (all be it not stompable, and not bass specific). It has a big effects list - including Guitar Amp sims (unfortunately no Bass Amp sim though) so I'm hoping it could be both a useful multi-fx unit that sits on the Amp, sample trigger, and drum mackine....Bargain! I've also found that some quite limited effects on my mixing desk (Mackie FX 12v3) can be usefully assigned just to the Bass. It probably wouldn't be ideal all live stuff as again it isn't 'stompable' but does have potential to add stuff like Delay, Reverb, Chorus and use for EQ as long as you don't want them turned on/off mid-song. I also tried Laptop and interface hardware teamed up 'Gig Performer' software. It gives a huge potential for all the different effects you can use, latency was low, it turned into a faff to try and have Laptop etc for gigs though. , this Any other non-standard ways you've added live effects?
  3. Superb bass. I've played this actual bass and it has a superb neck. Pick ups are very nice and even across the poles too. From what i've read they are manufactured by Seymour Duncan for Godin. They do have a very nice warm, deep Fender type tone. I bought his other Godin which i'm currently gigging. Stevie is a top guy and anyone buying this is getting a fantastic bass at a great price. GLWTS Stevie Dave
  4. I’ve been using this case to house our XR18 and all the PA leads, and it’s done sterling service. However, I’ve recently decided to go sensible and fitted some rack ears to the XR18 so we could downsize to a standard 4U rack so this case is now feeling a bit unloved. Important bit: the case is less than 19 inches wide, so it’s not suitable for standard rack gear. That said, an XR18 fits in it very nicely if it’s still wearing its comfy little bumper ends. The front cover has a handy pocket for treats and one of the clasps doesn’t quite fasten fully, but it’s never caused me any grief. Free to anyone who can make use of it. Collection from Redfield, Bristol. Thanks for reading, and please reach out if you have any questions😄 (mixer not included)
  5. Boss ceb3 chorus ,vgc , will try and locate the box . postage inc
  6. Repair, it doesn’t work. Fill your boots.
  7. They probably make more money off their utube channel than from sales now anyhow, so they don’t care.
  8. Electrik Soup, at The Beehive, Brentford that London Saturday's gig. When we were offered it, we said about possible low attendance due to it being early January but they were up for it, and fortunately there was an audience. We brought a few people and the pub was full, without being packed. We were set up in a corner, but the pub extends around the bar, so we could hear applause from people not in front of us, who we couldn't see. Our 90s and 00s indie classics went down well, even though one of our guitarists was peely-wally. Fortunately adrenaline kicked in and he was glad he made it. The bar staff and Guvnors were all lovely, and we've been offered follow up gigs. Gear: Shuker 3 is at the menders having some DR Neons fitted (Xmas gift) so I used Camille (Shuker 1) -> Getaria wireless -> TC Electronics BH800 (DI out to PA) -> Orange isobaric 2x12. My opinion has changed about the BH800. I previously thought it only sounded good if using the tone prints, but it sounded great FOH on the recording even when I wasn't using FX. Footwear: Blues ASICS trainers.
  9. Yes, sorry, first time selling here and I can't get them to upload—can you see this attachment? IMG_0256.heic
  10. Id possibly be interested in buying the Cab without the preamp?
  11. Hi guys, Im getting my fingers back to being used to playing again as Ive had a lay off. i have a playing rig (Anpeg PF) which Im pretty happy with but I used to have to practice through headphones but now I can practice plugged in but at sensible volumes. I would like a small and sensible practice amp and teally like the look of the Orange Basscrush and I kinda get 15/50/100 but who uses one? which one did you buy? do you wish You’d bought the next one up? if ao why and are you happy with it?
  12. I completely left Facebook a few years ago. I don't miss it. Aside from an occasional life update from a friend I found it very little use for anything music related, aside from maybe brands etc announcing new products. Specialist forums like these, as well as YouTube, are of much greater value to me mainly because of search. If a question pops into my mind I can usually have it answered, or at least some tidbits to point me in a direction, by searching old threads. YouTube obviously can vary, but I've been able to curate content that's genuinely interesting and relevant to my interests. As an example, last night I was watching some of Manton Custom's videos (pretty sure he's a forum member). A goldmine of useful info. Same with Dave's World of Fun Stuff etc. I'm also active on Mastodon. I'd recommend anyone to check out the Fediverse as an alternative to corporate social media. Yes, it's very tech oriented (it helps that I'm interested in Linux 🐧), and you'll find lots politics if you go looking for it, but there's also plenty of artists, photographers, etc. The potential is absolutely there to grow a community, but it requires you to do that actively, as there is no "algorithm" pushing recommendations or sponsored content. [Feel free to say hi if you're on Mastodon: @[email protected]]
  13. I tend to think of used reputable student basses as around the £1k mark generally, but others may correct me on that.
  14. Hi Mark, Its on the neck vol pot giving series/parallel with that being the main vol control and the tone in the usual place..
  15. My non-binding, totally unauthoritative view would be this is like for like (or as close as you can get) so would count as a repair. If, however, the new pickup has additional fancy features like making the bass groove so much that girls notice and want to snog you (isn't that why people change pickups?), then it counts as an upgrade.
  16. Hi mate it was the glossy clear version, I think you can get a small tin for about £20. A bloke on TB used the satin version which looked good, too.
  17. Not for hydraulic brakes!
  18. It looks like April according to my accountant before the 24-25 tax year rebates will be in. They will of course pay a whopping 2.75% for keeping your money from you all that time.
  19. The Woody Rumblekat I referred to was my best friend's. I only played it when he first got it and I did a setup with half-round strings. He wasn't a fan of very bright tones. I do know it was nice to play but if you need twangy tones, probably not the best choice.
  20. I’m visiting in Mexico at the moment , and my Facebook account has been locked up. I tried to log in using airport wifi and they are saying my account might have been hacked. I believe it’s just me trying to get into my account. Nothing has worked , this has been going on for four days now , the “help” bots have been useless. No way to actually talk to a human. Getting totally fed up.
  21. Great bass tone! Good spot - it's clearer around the 3 minute mark
  22. That is a thing of beauty!
  23. @ped do you know which variant of Osmo Oil was used? I'm keen to oil a couple of my necks and have a few tins os Osmo lying around the place 👍
  24. Today
  25. I love the easel for display purposes, utterly brilliant.
  26. You should really have some type of protection in a 3.5mm stereo jack plug (TRS) to 5.35mm mono jack (TS) I put 100 ohm resistors in as I worry the headphone outs may not like signal being fed back into them.
