Well you don`t see many of that range up for sale, which is a pretty good indicator of how good they are. Congrats on a good bass, in the best colour scheme.

I stripped the whole neck and left a curve for the headstock transition and it looked OKish. I saw another owner’s attempt, where the black started as a point behind the nut and flared out to the full black headstock, which looked much better. I think stripping the back of headstock would have been the best solution. Mine was beast, weight-wise, but marvellously balanced.

Steven Seagal is a very tough man, so he can do what he wants!

Usual rule of thumb is to go a gauge lighter than your preferred rounds. I felt the same with Dunlop flats, couldn't get them to work for me too much top end and not enough mid/body, tried GHS flats, they were too far the other way so I settled on La Bella, though I prefer the two heaviest sets to use on P basses (760FM 109-49 and 760M 110-52)

If you have the original Silverstone, I had one too and in many places had to dial down the low end. This is more the fault of the rooms than the cabinet. I have since gone Monaco then, owing to increasing age and puniness, on to the Monza. One of the things I know about @stevie at LFSys is that he goes through many iterations of drivers, cabinet designs and horns to ensure the best result he can within the design parameters. Many well respected drivers are rejected during the design process. There are also minor changes as time progresses and my early. version of the Monza does not have the recessed handle now standard on LFSys cabs. Having just had a hernia operation, the lighter weight of the Goodwood does appeal but I am loathe to give up my Monza.

The very first record I played on required a fretless for a slow song. I borrowed a 76 maple neck precision from a friend. It was modded with a JB PU in the bridge position, just like yours. It was the first time I played fretless but it worked out fine and sounded very good. Since then I´m in love with these. -
My gorgeous granddaughter's first birthday today. My god, it doesn't seem like five minutes etc.

I think we can all agree that Steven Seagal singing "Me want the poonani, see for make nice" in a Jamaican accent is perfectly acceptable:

Apparently this has happened several times before and they got through it in the end. I hope they'll live through this too! Would hate to see them go. They're owned by BBE, who don't exactly appear to be very relevant anymore as a company. Their Sonic Maximizer pedals, rack units and plugins were succesful for a while and they made some cool preamps in the past, but when you visit their site now it still says "2016" at the bottom and the button that should lead to their Products page is very much dead. Not a good sign. Their website for their plugins is more up-to-date though (2025).

I know the model. It's the S1 American Standard before the big 2008 overhaul. Nice basses
-
2004 with the S1 switch…… I’m not entirely sure where that falls in terms of models.

I've had a look at that schematic, what about turning the BG's Volume knob down to 0% as in fully off, does the problem still appear then? This assumes the BG is causing the problem and could be acceptable procedure, turn BG to zero then switch on/off. I notice the drawing suggests the EQ board is a Mark Bass product, I may have misunderstood that.
-
Many cabs have rubber feet on bottom and sides now ( MarkBass 58R series ) If I recall with the Monaco the compression Driver is angled / designed for standard vertical use. Stevie offers the option of rotating it 99 deg if you lay cab on its side

Probllably done with Photoshop, so OK?

A 21kg 210 is pretty manageable in the greater scheme of things though. If your big rig was a 810 I would understand.

What you need are my 2 sealed 2x10 500 watt RMS each Kustom cabs. That would do you. Not that I'm looking to downsize or anything. 😉

We all have a habit of eventually coming full circle to what we originally liked and settled with. Very nice example you have there. I see it's through body strung too. Is that an American Standard, or the American Professional?
