  3. Where the Slime Live - Morbid Angel
  4. The singer in one of my bands doesn't drive. She gets the bus to my house and we go together, and I drop her at her place afterwards. I usually give the drummer a lift when I'm playing on another band. He's local, gets me gigs and is very good so that's OK by me. In another band, we only gig in London so the keys player gets an Uber to the gig and I give him a lift (about 2 miles) home after. Everyone else drives.
  5. Not many of my trousers have carriers for wearing a belt. I rely on their elasticity; it can be embarrassing if this starts to fail whilst I'm carrying something in both arms, for instance.
  6. I always say the my Nana told me never to trust a man who doesn't wear a belt. It's not true but it sounds cool. How anyone can go belt-less is beyond me.
  7. Well after all that fuss and bother I plugged it in and……. …….it sounds AMAZING. Like really really really good. The new stainless strings give it a lot of - well everything, and coupled with the “vintage” style pickup and electronics with a 1f capacitor to make it a bit darker (apparently) it absolutely kicks ass. Way better than my Fender (which had older strings on so not a fair comparison). It almost sounds like an active bass it just punches through in every frequency and connected up to my GK 400rb and gk 2x10 cab it just slams like crazy, proper low end growl and really clear top end too. Honestly I’m amazed by it!!
  8. Dropped to £180, without the spare strings I was originally including. This bass is in hardly used, mint condition.
  9. Alright! Lets keep in touch, might even have some stuff to trade for you if you want.
  10. Don't say that!! I'm just about to try to sell mine with flight case as it sits on the floor in the study/studio and I have other options to use for recording (also I quite fancy, and selling might go a way towards funding, a Darkglass Anagram)
  11. Previous post from Brian for quick reference
  12. I have no idea - I left the band. But why should it need a patch to work properly?
  13. That's me in about 65 minutes time...
  14. I highly doubt you'll find one ready made off the shelf - I would just get the original copied. Either Brian Pillans (earlpilanz on ebay) or Tinytone will do this for you.
  15. Some set up guides use a credit card thickness as a measure of relief. David

  17. I've spent most of that afternoon playing with the Anagram and dialling in some nice sounds. I ended up using the Jim Bass amp and the California Bass 4x10. I've been favouring the SVT Brt amp on the helix for ages, pages with an 8x10 and 1x12 dual cab block. But I just didn't enjoy the Peggy amp and amp cabs on the anagram - it sounded too 'pillowy'. The combination I chose it much punchier. However, once I got it it sounding nice, I switched to my Helix - it's like night I day. My helix preset is so much more articulate with upper end detail. The Anagram sounds like it's got a blanket over it, even with this punchy and seemingly articulate amp and cab block choice. I'm going to to have to spend more time with this tomorrow and rig up a method to A/B on the fly. EDIT: according to chatgpt, the anagram has baked in high cuts on the cabs (and possibly elsewhere), whereas it's editable on the helix. This would account for why drives sound smooth without need to put a high cut block in the chain like I do with the helix.
  18. A mirror one would have looked cool.
  19. Now selling as a husk without the pickups - £150
  20. In my last band, I just happen to pass (sorta) a car-less band member's house enroute to the rehearsal room. I couldn't bring myself just to drive past.. It worked most of the time. I was driving a very long way, he was just crossing town and sometimes got "itchy" when I got stuck in traffic and not on his doorstep at the agreed time. 🙄 When it came to gigs, it would depend where it was, if I was passing I would pick the guy up, if not he would ask another band member. He would always offer ££, I tended not to take the £ as "I was going that way anyway". My current band, just at the last weekend I picked up our car-less singer. Again a long drive for me with an insane journey 2 miles across town after picking the guy up. He helped with town knowledge getting around the many "road closed" signs. And a band years ago, I would pick up the drummer as he had drink driving ban. Sadly, although being a nice chap, once the ban was over he got a car and no surprises for what happened next. 🤡 Maybe foolishly, I tend to see it as part of the team effort being in a band. It can go wrong, being mindful what is being said in the car matters. For me it was, be respectful and courteous. As in, don't make demands on the lift driver, be ready when the lift arrives. No smoking, drugs, faffing about, farting, politics in the car.. etc. ..and don't sit on my driving spex. Before -> 🤓... after->🧐
  21. I had to take mine apart to replace one of the flimsy little switches. Blackstar were really on the ball providing spares and the amp was really nicely made inside. I didn't keep it, not because it was bad, there was just too much scope for fiddling with the sound, I am such a fiddler!
  22. Hi good people, I’ve only just bought this beautiful bass from @briansbrew and it is all that it says on the tin and more… Every 10 years or so, I convince myself that I should own a bass guitar…however, I soon remember that even as I get older, it’s still not my particular cup of tea. I just love the mammoth inconvenience of logging a double bass around, and thankfully I’ve got the gigs on the upright. So, here it goes again. Early Custom shop Jazz bass, with several modifications that justify the “low” price. Originally Daphne blue, refinished in a deep pink colour, and then again back to the original colour, all professionally done. The neck binding was stripped and redone as perloid, with a nice touch at the top of the fingerboard saying “L’arbre chantant” (the singing tree in French). the “V” serial number is typical of early Custom Shop (they only started in 88 so this must be a very early one). The stamps are all original, but the year is not very legible at all. Gold tuners, knobs, control plate and screws are original to the bass, new gold bridge installed Brian had the scratchplate imported from the states which is 62-66 period correct. The pickups that came with it were not that great and not original to the bass, so Brian installed Fender customshop vintage 60's ones: they sound awesome! The gold bridge cover may or may not be the original one. A battery compartment was added at the back and a toggle switch to the control plate as an active circuit was installed, but now the original circuit reinstated and it’s all passive. Non-original Fender moulded included, strap locks and leather strap. Weight is 4.4 Kgs. A black strap and strap locks as pictured are also included.
  23. I’m uncertain, but it’s possible given @Richard R and his gracious offer of a lift I had been made redundant but am in a grace period for reinstatement so was going to be a NO for financial reasons but if Mondays chat with their recruiter (who contacted me) goes well it may be possible after all
  24. Offers by PM please
