So I had a quick play with my damaged bass. At present to hear anything with any degree of clarity through the embryonic sound hole requires that my ears are quite a lot close than is convenient. Having said that, the tone when I could hear it was rather nice, which makes me wonder not only about a soundhole for monitoring but also possible for micing. Anyway, gonna call the luthier over the weekend and get a design agreed, I'll update as soon as done π

thisisswanbon started following Darkglass Anagram

Long time lurker - first time poster after buying a shiny new Anagram earlier this week! Loving it so far, but the drives sounded a bit "dull" through my amp, fine through IEMS (I use backline and FOH) - any pointers for this? Also, the PSU seems a bit flimsy, especially for the cost... anyone had any joy powering with a power bank? There's some stuff on talkbass but nothing I can see that mentions real world use...

KZ-ZS10 or ZS10 pros are about the best of the bunch on a budget. I use them and they have plenty of bass, though I hear enough of that from the cab behind me anyway, so I have a mix with backing vocals, bit of drums and guitar etc. Theyβre all good all round budget IEM for about Β£40.

For sale, My Epiphone T bird with mods/upgrades depending on your point of view (Done professionally. Offered in excellent condition, it cant find any marks on it. The original pups have been swapped out for an EMG 35 soapbar set wired to EMG solderless pots and assigned as vol and tone for each pickup (there is a small visable gap on each side of the pickups due to different pickup dimensions). The battery is very neatly seated in the rear control cavity. The tuners have also been swapped out for a nice set of Gotohs, so all together a lovely bass which im only selling to fund emergency car repairs. All this wrapped up in a fitted T bird case with case candy (an unfortunate scratch on the case as pictured). None of the original parts are included or available sorry, I bought the bass in its current state. Although its in a hard case I would like pick up or meet up, but if you would like to organize a courier of your choice I have lots of packaging. Cheers Craig.

What are your irrational prejudices? I have some bonkers ones...
tauzero replied to kwmlondon's topic in General Discussion
Unbeknownst to the then current Mrs Zero, I had started seeing the then future Mrs Zero, a former girlfriend that I had re-encountered 25 years after she split up with me (at her dad's insistence). The then current Mrs Zero (Mrs Zero 2) never came to any of my gigs, and so the now current Mrs Zero (Mrs Zero 3) came along to them and became friends with the band and wives. The drummer gave us (by hand) a Christmas card which said "To Mike and Kaz" inside, and Mrs Zero 2 opened it. It was at this point (rather than after Christmas, which was my original plan) that I decided I should move out and move in with Mrs Zero 3. Ah yes, not-so-irrational prejudices: alcoholic wives. -

kwmlondon started following Your Dream Bass?

Dream bass? Blimey, well, I lust after a 5 string Precision and Iβd love one of those Rickenbacker 5 strings they made for a while. A Wal just because they are so iconic. Part of me would love an early 70s Jazz but Iβd never play it. I did see someone had made a Dingwall Combustion with a custom body fitted with those Simms type pickups and Luthisand preamp so kind of a DingWal and that should be out of this world. But last year I took receipt of my own Canadian Dingwall made to my requirements and that is my dream bass

Thankfully i managed to find and afford my two dream basses some years back. Short scale 4 string and long scale 5 string. So whilst I may lust after others it is unlikely than any more new bass guitars will cross my doorstep. Though a double bass might get through.

I am predominantly using IEM and FoH in my Steely Dan tribute band and this incredible rig is not seeing any use, I have 2 cabs and price Inc Preamp (boxed) and 1 cab, needs to be collection or meet up or buyer organises courier. Review by SBL WJBP Bass Guitar Pre-Amp DI Notes from Wayne Jones: My perfect sound was an Avalon 737 studio pre through my WJ powered cabs. So I set out to design a bass pre-amp that truly reproduced your bass sound & thus enabled you to tailor your sound. Also the tone controls had to work in the right areas & the pre had to have all the bells & whistles we need to do our job. Again no expense spared, just the highest quality components I could get for everything we need on stage & in the studio. These were my Instructions to my Engineer. I have achieved that with the WJBP This pre will also make front of house engineers happy as what goes in comes out. The WJBP is designed with a no compromise attitude in Cost, Quality, Components & Features just as are WJ High End High Powered Bass Cabinets. Features Input 1/4β phono stereo/mono jack Input Gain For both Passive & Active basses -10 Db pad Input Gain clip Indicator LEDS (top left corner) Tone controls are critically set by Wayne & are extremely accurate in the attack points of each string. You can set them by one for each string on your bass All +15Db -20 Db Incredible separation between the tone controls There is also a 30 Hz boost for those that may like it ( not really needed at all as the Bass control gives such a great bottom end with ultimate attack). In/out button for selection Compressor: Optical, automatically senses & is very effective even with a very small amount engaged. In/out button for selection Balance: This is a balance control for stereo operation e.g. 2 WJ 2x10 or Stereo WJ 1x10 Powered cabs. Master volume Controls output Pre-Amp Output Indicator LEDS (top right corner) tell you if you are overloading the WJBP output Mute - Puts the WJBP in standby mode. LED Indicates when in use. The Mute mode should also be used for power up of the WJ Powered cabs, otherwise a very loud 1000watts will sound when WJ Powered cab (or separate power amp) is turned on. It also operates the built in Tuner. For standard tuning for 4, 5 & 6 string basses Foot switch mutes all output for silent tuning. Master Outs 2 balanced XLR (recommended) outs for connection to WJ powered cabinets or to separate power amps Balance control on from panel will affect these outputs. Also a choice of 2 Unbalanced 1/4" outputs for same function. (not recommended as output is lower) All master outs can be used together as a pair or Individually with balance control set to the respective output FX Send & Return - Stereo or mono Foot switch - Mutes all output DI Output - Balanced XLR out with Level control & ore or post EQ button Aux Input - Stereo input, both 6.3mm & 1/4β phono. You an use this to plug items such as iPad, iPhone backing tracks etc. to play along with. Headphone With Volume Control - Plug in your headphones to practise with. You can use the WJBP by itself without plugging into a power amp. Loads of which headphones are best topics but when practicing because I wear glasses after a while headphones become uncomfortable and having stick oot ears doesn`t help . So I`m looking for a set of ear buds/in ear headphones that can handle bass, budget around Β£100.
