  2. If you want a sonic upgrade why not consider going for Midas MR18? I upgraded from the XR to MR and found the Midas had better input preamps. The CR sounded muddy in comparison.
  3. I’m not bad at set ups, though beyond that, pretty useless. I have decent hand tools to use in setting up the basses that I own (some with unusual fittings and highly specific sizes). Probably the most important tool for me is an extremely accurate and reliable tuner. I use a Peterson Strobostomp HD and have been very pleased with the results. Not the cheapest tuner (!) but a very good one.
  4. Another happy customer here. Super easy purchase of some IEM bits & bobs. Thanks!
  5. Gary bought/traded my GK Fusion 550, and was a top bloke to deal with. Had a great chat, and he made me feel very inadequate about my Spector collection! Cheers mate 👍

  7. Does anyone have a body for a T-40 colour doesn't matter. Thanks in advance
  8. Gardiner Houlgate Have got a few interesting lots coming up soon, the 71 ghost town bass seems a high price though
  9. I enjoyed the performance. I am wondering why he is dressed like an old lady though.
  10. This. The Peter Gabriel version was so original and different for the time, that if you're not a pub covers band you really need to do something to make it your own otherwise what is the point? Fine if you want to have a bit of fun in the rehearsal room but if this is all that's going to be done with the song please keep it there.
  11. Vocals are very flat but the band are cooking!
  12. Amp turned up this morning, my god is it light compaired to my AH350 🤣, I think I'll have drive at a minimum and just add with pedals.
  13. The 4 string I was after has been sold. Trade considered if anyone happens to have a Japanese Fender Jazz 4 string.
  14. Mono bass sleeve bass gig bag in excellent condition with only light use - the lightest gig bag in Mono’s range so easy to lug around but still great protection. Photos to follow ASAP Need to source a box if postage is required Info from mono- The Bass Sleeve® Case is designed to be a minimalist solution for traveling light and simple, and it is where MONO's innovative protection and high quality construction standards are merged into a super slim and stylish design. 360° PROTECTION Like the Vertigo™, the Bass Sleeve® Case is Top-Loading® for quick, stand-up access. Its design allows you to quickly unzip the case and pull your bass out from the top. This is enabled by a hidden diagonal hinge on the front panel of the case. Once unzipped, the case naturally opens out and to the right. No need to lay the case down on the floor. Easy access. The Bass Sleeve® Case features a slimmer variation of the Headlock® — MONO's patented neck suspension system. This slimmer Headlock® is molded from solid, shock-absorbing EVA rubber to protect the neck and headstock from impact during falls. When your bass is zipped-in, its neck is automatically secured inside the Headlock®'s contoured groove. At the bottom, the case features a super slim EVA insole to keep the body off the ground and protect the strap pin from bottoming-out when the case is put down too hard. SMART STORAGE The Bass Sleeve® Case features a messenger bag style storage pouch that's perfect for small laptops, tablets, notebooks, cables and other extras that you might need when traveling light. A small interior mesh pocket keeps those little, critical items close at hand. BUILT TO LAST WEAR IT OUT MONO cases are built to military specs, using only high-test materials with extreme resistance to abrasion and the elements. 17. I’ve found Fender flats to be high tension and as above the JMJ Mustangs come with them. And of all the flats that have come on the various Mustangs I’ve had imo the Fenders sounded best with them, you can get the thump but also highs and aggressiveness if needed.
  18. It’s a shame these shops are going. I remember back in 1991 when I needed a bass amp head just going to Denmark St area and checking out both what I liked and what I could afford. I then had the difficulty of getting it home - fortunately I hadn’t bought an SVT!
  19. The JMJ model comes with the Fender flats so they will work. I think they sound great - I sometimes have them on my Lionel. When new they are brighter than the La Bellas but react well to the tone control. I think the feel under the fingers of the Fender Flats is a lot nicer than the La Bellas and I do like La Bellas as well. The Fenders are a lot less grabby when the fingers get a bit sweaty. I have not tried the others.
  20. Do the necks/string runs not taper on Wals or does it just look like it in these pictures? They look parallel.
  21. Hi all, would appreciate some input, as I am prone to buying lots of stuff I don't need, including tools! Basically I am quite new to bass (4y) but have been into electronics and woodwork for a long time. As such setting up my own basses has been pretty easy for me, and I've set up some friends basses (free of charge) which they have been very happy about (including a Status Graphite Black Beauty which was scary, I took it completely apart and machine polished the lacquer over the carbon fibre!). Long term I'd like to start a business doing it to help with what will be a fairly crap pension. For a start I'd like the kit to do basic setups, also fret leveling and crowning, replacing nuts. Not full on luthier yet, baby steps first! So what are peoples recommendations for kit that I would absolutely need, and which products are best for it? I don't mind spending money for good tools (god knows I've got so much money in specialist cycle repair tools!) but I know some cheaper options are just as good and save money. Hopefully this might be useful for other people too. Thanks all!
  22. Really like that, great playing and vocal too, bass is great, drums too. I'd always assumed Harry Styles was some teenybop popstar that had limited appeal to an old git like me, I'm well impressed with that 👍🏼 Doubt I'd copy his dress sense tho... 🙄
  23. Aaaaaaand it's in the wrong subforum. Sorry 'bout that people. Mods, please move😅
  24. I've reinstalled the fender ones now, thanks for the help everyone.
  25. You know how to make a man feel old😂
  26. I wasn't trying to hijack a thread, I gave a quick post with my experience and people kept asking me questions! I didn't blame Dave, he did what he could I think, its just important to understand they can't help with everything rather than just have blanket praise that they are always amazing. If you want to ignore my experience that fine, I don't mind. Maybe I think its more to do with the fact that some modern amps, while lightweight and small, just aren't as fixable as older ones, which is why I don't own or want one. Also do they have to provide such good service as they break down more than other brands? I really don't know, and I don't think it would be possible to find out with any accuracy, so it would be unfair to assume that. Its great they give good service but I'd rather have an amp that never breaks down personally. (btw the sex panther ref was awesome, made me smile!)
