  6. Both sets back on now and it's magic. We'll see how long they last and whether it works a second time. So, this week I've saved 30% on strings and potentially doubled the life of them, which means an annual saving of a few bottles of wine, I suppose. Whatever, it's a win.

    Darkglass Anagram

Hello. Does the Anagram have a pitch shifter that gives you an octave up option? I need to achieve a kind of a Royal Blood sound but I couldn’t find any infos. Thanks for the help
  8. What Owen said. In addition to the Mule, Alan’s been experimenting with a few interesting new designs lately, including a “skeleton” bass that’s basically a solid top and back, with a hollow, sparred interior. Shuker will also make you more or less anything you want - I saw a nice, Leduc-style floating top semi-acoustic from him recently that was rather nice. I’m sure he could make something similar in short scale.

  10. I think it was merely some very inexperienced folks at the venue that thought you could just throw live music at their problem with no real thought put into it Daryl
  11. I'd say 'some things could be improved'. Get them to film a gig and then watch it. That usually irons out problems.
  12. The last few gigs we have done have been belters. The band is really gelling with our new guitarist now.
  13. I'd forgotten just how hideous they are.
  14. Also made a Warwick, er, tribute. I had one that had been defretted. That did me until I got a cheap Thumb and had it defretted and the neck reprofiled to JD Thumb dimensions.
  15. Not likely, post from an employee after today's meeting. "Latest update on TGP: I'm sad to say it's true. I just got back from my "meeting". I was told they are winding down the company and letting go of all the employees. They dodged the Fender question so i'm assuming they bought it. 33 years of doing the right thing and the rug gets yanked out from underneath you. It's hard to take, but thankful for those years."
  16. As G&L are purportedly an innovative brand, it could be a route for Fender to bring out its own headless range and enter the latter part of the 20th century.
  17. So when you add a functional extra string, for people like me, the 5er looks fine?
  18. I don't see what's bad about the Sire headstock, except, of course, that there is a headstock. It looks a little more function over form that the fugly Fender monstrosity.
  19. I do quite a few open mics which have featured bands, and 90% of the bassists have 4-string FSOs. Having had both fan-frets and parallel frets, I prefer the parallel. I also prefer 5-strings to 6-strings (and 4-strings). For those reasons, this doesn't interest me except in the sense that I'd like to see if NS comes up with the CF equivalent of the Hohner B2AV or Spirit XT25 (with a nicer neck). It does look like a better thought out body than the symmetrical cricket bat.

  21. Hi everyone, Up for sale is this SahBro? Brass Section Fuzz. A cool Brassmaster clone in a 1590BB enclosure. It's a nice option if you're looking for that particular kind of fuzz sound, but it's not in a giant enclosure at a larger price. It's got a few dings, but it all works as it should. Here's the reverb shop I got it from: https://reverb.com/uk/item/83850271-sahbro-audio-the-brass-section-brassmaster-clone I'm asking £90 for it. Price includes postage. Below I've attached some quick sound clips too. The signal is a P bass with Chromes, straight into an RNDI. Brass Section Samples.wav Cheers!

  22. That colour definitely looks better on my sock.
  23. It is (D#m technically) We've settled on Bm 😁😁😁
  24. We played 2 nights at the Chorley festival last year - Friday and a Saturday. its a multi-venue thing across the town. first night peaked with a ukulele orchestra and by the time we played, one couple and 6 people who I knew arrived. the second night in a more “prime” venue - was absolutely rammed… it’s a venue problem as well as a band concern.
  25. I use one of these https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/305925820264?var=605184196024 I can get 6 lamps in a 20x20cm bag plus the mains leads. Check the length though, they come in a range. Previously I hollowed out an old bass case which took five lamps with a bit more protection
  26. Good rehearsal tonight. Boys of Summer requires a lot of concentration! I took a five string which was just as well as we ended up playing it in multiple keys. For the himass bridge fans my stock Flea Jazz had no difficulty sustaining the notes when we played Em. And for people who worry about flabby b-strings, my Harley Benton Marquess was sounding awesome. We ended up settling for Bm but I'll probably use an octaver (as does Tim Schmidt when playing it in Dm on a four string). Aside from four new songs, most of the evening was tidying up arrangements.
