  1. Past hour
  2. Everything I don't like is rubbish. It makes for an easier life.....
  3. I'm completely with you about the ornate basses 😄 Just not for me. I don't think I'd call Wetherspoons food very good value. Maybe just good value - they never give you enough chips. I love The Smiths, but Morrissey is a knob. As for Coldplay, they can do one. 😁
  4. Hmmm...not sure about the analogy? Don't many of the 4/10 UK marriages that don't last, end precisely because one party tried a side piece first?! Besides open relationships seems to be much more of a thing with Gen Z - guess that's a bit like bandmates depping for other outfits?
  5. I must admit, its a bit of a bugbear for me when someone says something is rubbish, when its clearly not, but I understand what they are saying is they don't like it. Music to me is art and a language and it either speaks to you, emotionally, physically, mentally etc. or it doesn't. We are all different so there is no right or wrong to any of this, it simply does or doesn't speak to you and one mans work of art can be a masterpiece yet to the next person it is utter garbage. Just enjoy what you enjoy. Agree with the Morrisey comments, an utter bell end 🤣
  6. Hi, it’s around 9lbs, only have bathroom scales, kind regards, Steve
  7. Strange - thanks
  8. I’ve got my non-gigging classic rock band to keep me playing, Dave. It’s ideal as we play 4 or 5 songs, take a break, then repeat throughout the rehearsal. Never get to the point where fatigue sets in. It’s my ultimate aim to get down to just the one Berg (the one I’ve commissioned), the current two being interim instruments. Though will possibly keep the latest Lionel as well.
  9. I bought this just last week, form @elliott_Þórunn hoping to keep it as I had one before and absolutely loved it. I sold my first Capo when I bought my Noble, and this one was going to live on a backup pedalboard. Unfortunately, I’ve had some unexpected car costs come up, so I’m going to need to let it go a lot quicker than I would have liked. It’s a really fantastic bit of kit, anyone who knows what it is will know it’s a true Swiss Army knife of preamp pedals. Comes with the manual and original box but not the little fabric bag. Velcro on the base. £430, which is exactly what I paid for it last week. Collection available in Edinburgh, or postage at cost.
  10. I used to like them, even went to see them live... Then they disappeared up their own derriere in my view, and I wouldn't bother with them now. Having said that my band plays two of their older songs and they get a good sing along going.
  11. Nick bought a SahBro? Brass Section Fuzz from me. Great comms and an easy transaction, a pleasure to deal with. Thanks Nick!
  12. I did jump into a pretty warm seat one time, and while the before times are none of my concern, the drummer made everything clear to my predecessor and I had a nice, cordial chat with him about it. In all cases where I've been involved already, everything's been above board and talked out. I've had bands be dissolved by the leader, I've left bands, but it's always been face to face. Maybe I've been lucky.
  13. This one is primarily, but not exclusively, aimed at those of us who are in the mellow autumn of our years. The partner of our vocalist and band leader had a stroke last week. She’s likely to be in hospital for another few weeks and is likely to need lots of support when she gets home. Consequently, and rightly, we’ve cancelled everything band-wise for the rest of the year. Onwards, we’ll have to see how things go. So, while you are able, do that gig, join that band, buy that bass, climb that mountain. Whatever you want to do, while you can. And, prompted by a recent thread, don’t stick around in that dysfunctional band hoping things will improve.

    Neural Quad Cortex

I’m borrowing my guitar player’s nano cortex. Where do I find the bass IR’s - did a search on the NDSP guys but not seeing bass cab ir’s. It’s showing me everything else. I entirely blame user error on this I have updated the app etc. Any guidance appreciated.
  15. MXR Univibe for sale. All working as it should, I'm just not using it. Little bit of Dual Lock on the bottom. No box. £85 delivered in the UK. Thanks
  16. Earlier on this year I temped for my old band. They`d decided to let their bassist go, and asked me to go back and cover, in that order, which for me is the right way. As a courtesy I messaged him to let him know that I was covering and that it wasn`t skullduggery to get my old position back, to which he thanked me for the message, and said he was aware of this as they`d let him know. I don`t see the need for all this underhand stuff, if it`s not working act, don`t plot, what my old band did above worked well, and because everything was up front there are no issues and we can all be grown-ups (well as grown up as The Inbetweeners perhaps) and get on with each other.
  17. Agree, their material is instantly recognisable and many really like them but I just can`t get Coldplay.

  20. For a proper grenade-in-the-portaloo departure, I would suggest the following amendment to 2, assuming that there's a D, E and F (or even G, H , I, J, K, L and M if your band is a ludicrous monster like mine) and that they're not party to the skulduggery: 2: Leave the toxic environment completely, but throw that grenade on the way out - "I am leaving the band. For those of you who don't know, there is a secret plot to bin one of you and there is an audition already arranged for the replacement. That's is appalling. A band should be like a marriage - if it's not working you end it. Not try out a side piece first" D to M will now be wondering which one of them is the backstabbed and who the backstabbee is. Kaboom.
  21. Anyone that gets up, gives something a try and puts themselves out there deserves respect, no matter what field they are in. That said Coldplay are still rubbish.
  22. Its all perspectives isn't it? Rubbish is quite a shorthand way of expressing things like "not my cup of tea" and "inferior quality compared to other options". I wouldn't say Morrisey is a rubbish singer, I would say something like I'd rather lick horse wee off burning thistles, but that's my perspective and I don't expect everyone else to go along with it.
  23. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
  24. Which is why I've thoughtfully added a postage option so that potential buyers don't have to suffer the trauma and indignity of visiting the god forsaken place should they choose not to.
  25. They are quite nice looking pedals in an understated way, aren't they! All credit to their respective designers - though I wish the lettering on the blackout compressor was just a tiny bit easier to read. The only reason I have the TU-3w was that my girlfriend asked me what I'd like for my birthday a few years ago, and specified that it had to be something that I wanted but couldn't justify buying myself as it was kinda stupid. The TU-3w had just been released; I absolutely wanted one and couldn't think of anything much more unjustifiably daft than a tuner that costs twice as much as it should.. just because it's painted black. Anyway, sticky dots now applied and re-photographed against the contrasting side of the cow blanket. Hopefully the next time I need this photo isn't for the insurance when some light-fingered type at a gig likewise finds it attractive!
  26. Agree 100% with the OP. It's a message I have consistently given my kids as they were growing and I played them both kinds of music, country and western (kidding). They were fed many shades of the spectrum from full on prog right through to jazz (not that I have much of that), and they took what they wanted from each genre. They now have actually quite divergent tastes which is interesting. The real point of "communion" has been the Graceland album.
