  4. I had a problem with the Boss working in my acoustic and the workaround was to use a TRS-TS connector. So I got a right angled one and as that also ‘worked’ on my other instruments I could use it when I felt it was sticking out a bit too much… There were also some jacks it didn’t like and it wouldn’t operate the power so I kept an assortment of washers that went over the Boss jack and made sure the power was activated. All stored in an old glasses case…

  7. Sorry I probably wasn’t clear enough. I meant dismantle the XLR plug that is stuck in your PA amp module. Undo the screw on cable gland on the plug, withdraw the innards from the XLR plug and then reach inside the housing of the plug that will still be stuck in your PA amp module to release the latch with a small flat head screw driver.
  8. I do think Aguilar lost a lot of what made them great when Korg acquired them. They've barely done anything to move forwards, expect increase their prices significantly. I still think their Tonehammer Pre and DB cabinets are absolutely fantastic, but by now I'd have expected them to move on with brand new ranges. Now that I see the criticism of this combo, I can see why people are surprised at the design of it. They would have been better to make a combo like TC/Genz did with either a cradle or a separate 'shelf' on top of the cabinet (that is totally covered), and kept it at 500W. At the price this combo will be, I'd expect an exceptional 2x10 that can handle most of what a mid level amp can throw at it (say 400+ w). In the UK, I'd probably go for Ashdown now with their UK manufactured combos/amps.

  11. The DM610 is a large bookshelf/standmount speaker from renowned hi-fi brand B&W, featuring a well-braced 30-litre sealed cabinet with 8-inch mid-bass driver. The larger driver and extra cabinet space create a much better low end range than from most similar speakers. This model allows for either bi-wiring or bi-amplification. These speakers present clean tight bass response, surprisingly clear mids for such a large driver and the pleasant highs that the well-designed B&W tweeter at that time was famous for. They can be driven quite loud, enough for the physical effect of the bass to be felt without audible distortion or a sense of sound compression. Both speakers are in Very Good condition, especially for their vintage. All-original, complete with full grilles (one of which has a small hole, shown in the final photo). Only £125.   12. Absolutely not unreasonable. Some people like to have an idea in their head that is probably more suited to recording than playing live. In my 80s band we have a sax player who also plays keys. Even if he didn't play keys I'd want more sax all the time!!! You don't see many bands of our ilk with a sax player, and when the sax player is good you should make them the star of the show IMO.
  13. I’ve been doing some gear restraint(abstinence)//basschat challenge here and I’m really happy with how this setup’s turned out. My in-ear monitors translate exactly what I dialled in at home, and the FOH guys have liked what they’re hearing so far.

  16. I have a EBMM USA sterling which I transport in a SKB iSeries case when I fly. The case is designed for a larger body than my Sterling. I pack it out with pipe insulation foam. (amazon or screwfix) One piece around the body of the bass. It works a treat.
  17. Hoping someone can help, what can I use to pad this case out so my Mustang fits it snuggly (and if you can advise where I can purchase from that would really be appreciated), I appreciate any help with this, thank you

  20. This is my Ampeg Heritage 410 cab (and 100w valve head). Cab has a bar and wheels, but if I had to move it weekly I would likely use one of my smaller cabs. Getting too old to move things like that all the time.
  21. Right now for creative purposes. AI is at the same stage I was in my teens when my songwriting "influences" were very obvious, and the greatest current threat to it is that it will get sued for plagiarism. As others have said there are lots of uses of AI in music that take the donkey work out of some technical aspects such as noise removal. and frequency balancing. I use AI fairly frequently in my day job in graphic design. One use is when creatinge photo-realistic mock-ups of some of the food products and packaging that my clients are considering producing. I could spend time in Photoshop compositing inclusions onto a slab of chocolate to show through a window in the packaging, or I could ask an image generator to create one for me. One will take an hour or so the other with the right prompts less than 5 minutes. It has also been used to generate one of the "covers" for my band's releases. At the time I was completely snowed under with paying work, so we fed a series of prompts into an AI image generator and refined the output until we had something everyone was happy with. I could have done a better job manually, but it would have taken a lot longer and at the expense of paying work.
  22. I'm not an ex-BF user and still have and use my Two10. I'm a fretless bassist and every time I've used either a Fender Rumble 500 v2 combo or Ashdown combo, its always sounded great and I've always got compliments. I also recently used a GR Bass 208 cab with an Orange Little Bass Thing head and mid set, the singer turned to the audience and said, I loved how as soon as the bass player started playing, you all just watched him, doesn't he sound amazing. Likewise, when I've used my small rig which is a Warwick Gnome 300 and my TC Electronic 208 cab, I've always got compliments. I like my BF Two10 and LM IV but it just doesn't compliment me as much as other setups that I've used.
  23. Poisoning the well. IIRC someone has created a method of encoding music so that AI thinks it is a different genre to its actual one, or "hears" the music it is being trained on as just noise.
  24. Don’t think I’ve got the headspace to learn new media skills; too much crazy life stuff being flung at me at the moment. If I could partner up with a video/recording wizard, that would help.
