The Way I Walk - The Cramps

As above. This is a 2019 model. Great condition. A few very small blemishes which I’ve tried to picture but are really hard to catch on camera and can’t really be seen unless intentionally looking. (2 on top horn, one near bridge and one or two very little ones near the control plate) Also a little bit of bucklerash as this has been gigged for a year or so but nothing major. No noticeable marks to my eyes on the headstock. Really nice bass. Hipshot tuners which I’m not sure whether or not are standard but they’re on there since I bought it… Recently (3 weeks ago) professionally set up with EB Medium Slinkies. with a slight fret dress, so it’s a really nice low action with no high spots or choking. Honestly, plays like butter, whatever that plays like! I’ve also had the pickup cavity and pick guard copper shielded at the same time so it no longer has that pesky Mustang Hum. Only selling because try as I might, I just can’t seem to make it work for me. The split coil pickup which the Mustang is famous for sounds awesome but I can’t make it fit in my main gig and find myself craving more ‘honk’ that comes from having a bridge pickup. Comes with a full size bass hard case which I’ve adapted to fit the short scale with some wood & foam. Works a treat. Also comes with Schaller S Locks. And, I think I’ve got an old set of Fender flatwounds cut to fit it which I’ll chuck in. The original strap pins are also in the case and I can knock £20 off if you don’t want the Schallers. I can also include the Fender strap for an additional £10. Looking for £650 £630 collected from TF5 where I have very nice coffee and a biscuit or 2 available, and a nice amp you can try through. Or, i think i have a box and can pack up if you wanted to organise a courier. And… I can potentially meet within about 30-40 mins of TF5 . Will consider trades/part trades for short scales especially a Fender Japan Junior Jazz Bass or Gibson Jr Les Paul Tribute, and potentially 5 strings. But, sale is preferred so happy to see what you’ve got. Thanks in advance. Alex

one of the main reasons I impulsively bought the tickets was seeing herbie Hancock and headhunters lol. I LOVE the albums they did together. The bass player wasn’t playing a Warwick. I couldn’t tell what it was. It could have been a MTD as the headstock has a circle logo. Once I couldn’t tell I just enjoyed the music lol.

I wanted to put some Reggae bass playing up here but I don't know anything about the genre so I just put 'Reggae' into YouTube and this is the track that came up first. It is incredibly easy to read and to play but it's all feel and tone so done think you can just flounce in there and be all supercilious about it. I tried to find out who played the part and the closest I could get to a name was the suggestion that the track is based on a sample of a Sly and Robbie track from yesteryear. So the is (probably) Robbie Shakespeare's bass part to the tune 'Welcome To Jamrock' by Damian Marley. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/welcome-to-jamrock-damian-marley/

Just a shout out to say how my Behringer XR18 never fails to amaze me. Played a gig last night with 12 inputs, six IEM mixes, plus FOH and running two fx as well, and she never missed a beat. Rock solid connection between the AirPort Express and my old Microsoft Surface Go running the latest X-Air Edit software. You might think “well yeah, that’s what it’s designed to do” but it still amazed me that it does all that at this price point. I still hanker for an x32 rack but as long as the XR18 keeps doing its thing I see no need to make the outlay. Maybe I’ll wait until the price of the wing rack drops a bit 😎

JohnDaBass started following Squier Telecaster Bass...wow!

Here's my view. '69 EB3, '72 Fender Telecaster bass, Fender Mike Kerr Jaguar, Squier Rascal, 2017 Gibson SG, Epiphone Newport with Artec Pup But it's important to take into account not only the pickup postion in relation to the 12th fret but also the tone cap value used. Notes 1 Neck Pup only on all the above 2 The '69 EB3 is neck Pup only without the inductor engaged ( engaging the inductor opens the bowels of Hell in the Lows) 3 '72 Telecaster is all original stock Pup and pots. 4 The Mike Kerr SS Jaguar Pup at 10ins from 12th fret 5 Squire Rascal SS neck Pup at 8ins from 12th fret 6 2017 SG is NOT a mudbucker, it is not a sidewinder design it is a standard side-by-side humbucker design. 7 The Mike Dirnt has an all original '72 Telecaster bass Pup expensively sourced from a guy in USA added at the neck with 3 pos switch to engage the '69 P Pup 8 The Newport re-issue bass had the Epiphone ceramic Sidewinder Pup swopped out for an Artec Mudbucker These are my views only, of the basses I own, just to add some context to your question to compare Pups. This Squier Telecaster Bass looks the real deal and if it has the same Pup as the Rascal it should sound amazing for the price point. I hope Fender release a Squier version of the Mike Kerr signature in black with a maple neck and tort pickguard, as I will be first in line to buy!!

JPJ started following IEM Conundrum ....... possible solution??
-
Before you go off spending money on new IEM’s etc have you tried eq’ing the aux that is feeding your X-Vive? I used to experience the same harsh IEM sound until I spent a bit of time last night eq’ing my aux send. That solved the problem for me and I had the best IEM sound I’ve ever had.

It all worked out well with a single 212, we were playing on a stage with a roof and open sides, I just cranked the bass a bit on the amp

It’s one of their Teambuilt (so German-made) annual limited models where they change things up a bit in terms of spec. It’s the bolt-on LX model and has a black korina body and Bartolini soapbars in it. Here’s a demo (playing at 2:09 onwards):

Phil Starr started following Beer garden gig, do I need an extra cab?
-
I don't think we have enough information to answer definitively. How big is the garden? How loud do you need to be? Are there any wlalls around you.? The problems outside are ambient noise can be louder people further away and for the bassist the sound from behind the cab being lost. Since the sound behind is just the lower frequencies you lose bass. If there is a wall behind you lean the bass cab back against it and the bass sound will be enhanced. If you have two cabs I'd take both on a precautionary principle, if I had them available. There's only one way of finding out waht works and you can't do it if the cab is at home

Phil Starr started following Rumble combo with 10 inch pa speaker?
-
I don't think it was a daft thought, it just needs to have a little work done on it. You can feed a speaker level output into an active speaker but it needs the voltage reduced and some impedance matching. You can buy a DI box which will reduce the signal roughly to a thousandth of the speaker signal and sort all that out for you. In terms of power it would work like adding in an extra Rumble, you'd have the extra power coming from the amp in the active speaker instead of coming from a reduction of the impedance to 4ohms. You'd also have a bit more speaker area radiating sound so you'd get extra volume that way. Though the active might not be as loud as the Rumble depending upon what it is. Connecting the speaker output rather than a line out or FX out from a bass amp means all the tone controls on the Rumble will affect the sound from the active extension. It won't sound like the Rumble though as the combo's speakers are meant to be coloured and the PA speakers to be uncoloured. It might be something to try if you just want a bit more volume but get that matching DI box
