  2. Hi all, I’ve been rehearsing with a drummer and guitarist to which it’s been forecasted that we will begin gigging in October. I’m absolutely buzzing for it. I picked up the bass for the first time in April and joined a 4 piece but they did not do well (drummer’s gear kept packing in and the guitarist was not very good so some time was lost between rehearsals looking for another guitarist so eventually I backed out as I was looking to develop and not spend time waiting for them to sort their stuff out) and I’ve currently got a good grasp of about 15-16 songs. A fairly small amount but 45-50 minutes worth of a setlist which we plan to do for pubs! Anyway, enough of me rambling. What is everyone’s advice when preparing for gigs? The drummer has a PA system and all the relevant equipment needed, but any tips and advice would be of much appreciation.
  3. Great condition MXR Clone Looper, only selling as I am using another looper. Does not come with original box but will ship in a nice box with padding. Shipment at buyer’s expense or happy to meet anywhere in London.

  5. Brought a bass from Oli. Very pleasant experience, great communication and bass well packaged and as described. Thanks very much Oli, appreciate it!
  6. Predominantly our own material. "BEGUILED" are described as a modern day Pink Floyd, modern day Classic and Progressive Rock in the vein of bands such as Porcupine Tree and Dream Theatre. Also covers by the likes of Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, UFO etc.

    Based around Northamptonshire/ Cambridgeshire/Suffolk

  7. Hi Chris, Seems I don’t automatically get a notification when someone replies! I’ve PM’d you the number. Terry
  8. @HellzeroI thought JV stood for Joint Venture?
  9. Best of luck with the health issues. GLWTS
  10. Now £300 collected from Chatham, Kent.
  11. This is great advice. The amount of hassle removed by consulting an expert is great. We recently played a new venue that the owner had spent thousands of pounds doing up. Alas he hadn’t spoken to a sound expert and the room was boomy and horrid. A few hundred would have made a world of difference.
  12. Mine gave me great service for many years, until I got too old to lift it. Not quite as much bass as my Ampeg Portaflex but 10 times the weight!
  13. Always thought those MB combos were a great idea where you could tilt back to hear them better. Dave
  14. I think that will all work fine, along with the excellent advice above. You might also benefit from a couple of little monitors in your set-up, to allow band members to get a slightly different mix in different parts of the room, and to help manage mic feedback. The Thomann 'The Box' ones are great value.
  15. The US suffix doesn't mean US built. Fender Japan made a version using alder for the body (and ash in some cases) and US spec hardware.
  16. Bed Spring Blues — Blind Lemon Jefferson
  17. You're right Lozz, the JMJs are supplied new with fender long scale stainless flats, however I'm led to believe that the cobalts are a more fragile than steels and might not survive the winding going around the string post. Maybe if any of the sets I have on a thunderbird gets a bit dead sounding, I'll experiment with that set — I wouldn't want to risk it with a new set though. I've just remembered I have a set of 30" Cobalt flats which should fit my Sienna sunburst PJ mustang as the body isn't string-thru, so I can see how they sound on that bass.
  18. Forever Autumn - Justin Hayward
  19. Another one from Philadelphia International. The O'Jays - Give the People What They Want | Anthony Jackson
  20. It would be a great shame if the tickets were only available on Facebook. I for one wouldn't be able to contribute. @Grainger guitars you will need to share this page more widely if you want to sell any tickets.
  21. I was at PukkelPop (one of the biggest music festivals in Belgium) in 1993. I don't remember who was on the main stage, but I found it extremely boring. So, I went to the other stages and I heard this band that was so completely different than what I had heard until then. I immediately went to that stage and heard the last 3 songs of their set The energy! I immediately both both albums. Saw them again in '94.
  22. First Bass: Avon EB0 copy Go-to Bass: Fender Pro Precision with flats 'Your' Bass: A black Fender Jazz with rosewood, blocks & binding
  23. First owned: Kay P bass - absolute dog & boat anchor (good name for a pub). Go to: Squier JV P - just feels like home Signature: I’m not that good! 😂, but the JV does everything I need.
  24. Scary that I'm getting more like this as I get older....
  25. \ bought a pre cur 90 degree piece, the eBay link is in the original post if you need one.
  26. You won't set anything on fire or blow anything up. The speakers will easily handle the power from that amp if you use it sensibly. The PV range of amps have output protection so cut-out before over current. On this one there's a reset, on others you have to wait for it to cool down and reset. Just watch you're not driving the amp into clipping as this will damage things. Adjust the input sensitivity with the main volume on low, while listening for distortion.
