Next Hurtsfall gig is OxJam Beeston. We're playing at The Berliner at 3.30pm. Wristbands for the whole event are just £10, but all the venues are free entry before 6.00, so if you don't want to stay late it won't cost you anything although the organisers would like it if you made a donation. If the previous years are anything to go by the whole event is excellent and well-worth supporting. Also in the past serval other Basschatter's bands have played so it could be an opportunity to catch up with some of us in real life!

Pea Turgh started following Vester acoustic bass
-
If you like the Vester more than your Ibanez, it’s a good trade. Doesn’t matter what is or where it was made!

Welcome! I've lived in the locality most of my life, and went to college in Guildford many years ago. I used to avoid Andertons as I found them condescending and unhelpful, but they are now absolutely top notch for service. I wouldn't hesitate to shop there.

I've done charity gigs that I've been paid for and I have no problem with free charity gigs, as long as we are not being taken for mugs. So far I've never met a band that where playing in other bands was forbidden. I've been in a couple who insisted their gigs came first, but that was understood from the outset. Back in the day, when I was on a retainer I did more gigs with the pub band than I did with the main band. The drummer was also in a second band. As long as we were available whenever the phone rang, it didn't matter what we did with our "downtime". I wouldn't have anything to do with someone trying to control when, where and with whom I played.

Yep. Amazon see it as a total bucket of that product, but know that company 1 have x amount of stock and company 2 have y and distribute payment based on which link to buy was pressed. Most people browsing Amazon aren't paying that much attention to who is shipping, they're just looking for the lowest price. I assume it's partly Amazon being "economical" (lazy) with where their stock is and trying to get stuff out as quick as possible.

jonno1981 started following G&L in trouble...?
-
Every G&l bass I’ve played has sounded great but had ergonomic issues. I’ve played 4 and each of them was really heavy, balanced poorly and missing a lot of modern refinements that I’d expect. Stuff like unshielded cavities, chunky feeling neck profiles, plasticky battery compartments. Providing fender don’t do an SWR (buy and shut the place down), continue to invest and modernise the product, I’d see this as a positive for the brand.

Recirculating ball steering, 3/4" free play allowable at the MOT. Had a LDV camper (glorified Sherpa) with one, it was like steering a boat. On the motorway you'd gradually drift to teh right of your lane, correct and gradually drift left. There was no straight ahead, whatever you did or how well the wheels were aligned.
