Will Basschat survive the Online Safety Act?
TimR replied to fretmeister's topic in General Discussion
It's very easy to 'police'. Someone complains, they investigate. If your moderators have been doing their job, you won't have an issue in the first place. If something does slip past the moderators, the very fact you have active moderators with policies in place protects you and any children. No one is going to be patrolling the Internet looking for problems in the off chance they'll find them. -

I recently rediscovered Quincy Jones: -
Yes but the HX doesn't provide the same accessibility to settings that the M9 does. It's a nuanced difference that maybe only appeals to hardened professionals under time pressure.

Behringer did or still do one that fits the bill. We had it in the band to save floor and car space from big monitors and it helped get vocals in tune. I wouldn't pump bass through it though. Anyway, fifteens... I hear all the arguments on speaker size but to me something just sounds deeper and more rich in my fifteens than it does with smaller speakers. It's rare for me to play without PA support so I want the sound I like from my kit. Lightweight and compact cabs mean it's not as impractical as it used to be.

You are correct that most will be, I hadn't considered that, but how are Ofcom going to know? If they develop a Web crawler, does it respect the robots.txt file? This is going to be very difficult for them to police. -
I was thinking of marking with a fairly chunky Sharpie and cutting to the outside edge?

Unfortunately not. I'd love to get my hands on one though!

Yep I must get around to sorting those plugged screw holes properly - but it's my gigging bass 🙂 Anyway these are almost steampunk in their look, heavy and smooth operating. I have to say they look pretty much hand made. They are about £55 plus carriage on Aliexpress or there's an eBay seller with them for about eighty quid all up. Bear in mind they will add literally several pounds to your bass ... but I look at it this way ... if we worried about bulk and weight we'd be mandolin players!

That's great BRX. I also prefer the Pop mix; the vocal seems to sit better in the mix for me, and I love the synths.

Grizzly Bass OD/Distortion/Tone shaper - very recently bought on here from @IanA (so I have used his photos and description and linked the ad below). It’s a really good pedal, you can do an awful lot of different things with it - and it does them all really well, but it’s more than I need atm and if I’m honest I just like buying & selling pedals and trying new stuff 😁 I’m not really an overdrive person, but that being said I’m interested in trades/deals for a Genzler Magellan,Trickfish OD or the Eternal preamp, or a DG Harmonic Booster amongst other things (with appropriate cash adjustments). Other than that I’m maybe interested in trades for preamps, low gain dirt or compressors but really I’ve priced it cheap to sell as I know what I am after ideally Reduxed to £110 posted Previous ad 👇

Unlike muting strings there’s a lot of energy and there’s varying degrees of sympathetic buzz. Sometimes a finger on the reso head will be enough but if the bass player hits the right frequency then even holding the snare wires at one end won’t stop it buzzing at the other and the only options are to release the snare tension or put your finger under the snare wires.

Yes, there was a Maurice Plaquet store in Shepherds Bush. Years ago, I worked at the Marquee Club in Wardour St. It was like the hangout of people in the music business and you can see a band whilst people were networking. Believe me it was the place to be. The road manager with Soft Machine was short of a few roadies for their gig at the Rainbow Theatre, Finsbury Park which was #1 rock venue in the country at the time I was recruited, and I in turn asked my mate if he fancied being a roadie for a day. Of course he did do we both did it. That’s when I first heard of Maurice Plaquet, a lot of the bins (speakers) used by the band was hired from Maurice Plaquet’s company.

But most of them will be passive websites that just carry information and don't try to push anything to anyone. It's only web forums and other social media that will be examined, assuming that a web crawler can be adapted to detect forums.
