If you want a cheap bass that will do the job without any upgrades or extra spending, why not get a used Ibanez SR300. They're not good for the price, they're just good.

A gentleman and a fine fellow indeed! A man who knows how to meticulously wrap a parcel as if it is passing through a war zone. Dave was happy to offer lots of pictures and details even mentioning the tiniest of marks (that I can't see!!) As they say on eBay, A++++++ perfect communications, would recommend.

Depends if you want to risk your name/ legacy or not. If he has enough money to enjoy retirement and pass a bit on, he may not what to.

Been trying to return a shirt, using Evri’s return service. Printed the label Evri emailed me, attached it and took it to two of Evri’s recommended return shops. Both times the very patient staff scanned the bar code over and over again but with no luck. In both instances they tried a number of different approaches to registering the return, even confirming that the email and instructions I showed them were correct. I took it another shop this morning by way of a last resort. Again, no joy. I did the mandatory “Evri chance it’ll get lost anyway” jibe at the top of my voice as I took back off the member of staff. To my surprise a fella behind me said “I’m an Evri driver, let me see if I can help?” We went outside to his van, he took out his scanning device and it registered without an issue. He took my parcel, and issued me with a receipt and a card with his name and contact number on. I checked my emails and there it was, registered as collected and on its way to the depot. Look, it may never see the light of day again, but I have to say that the courier couldn’t have been more helpful and at least I do have some evidence of the return being in the system so have a chance of a refund. I’m pretty sure that he went against Evri policy, so this isn’t necessarily a shout to the company, and no it’s not a £25,000 Wal that’s gone missing, more a nice story…. as you were…

5kg would be the packed weight with gig bag, ie what is on their system for shipping weight, which probably explains the reply

DDR started following Bass Cab in the hold????

Lots of talk about bass guitars in the hold with an internet search but what about putting a bass cab in there? Anyone done this? Anything to look out for? What could the temperature and pressure do to it? Thoughts? Thanks!!

They used to be happy to get something out of a box and weigh stuff, but now they don't. I suspect their new massive automated warehouse system would get in the way of wandering over to get one off a shelf. It's a shame but I kind of get it for them - they are probably warehousing hundreds of incoming basses a day. It would need a dedicated team to weight stuff on the way in and stick it on a site like smaller places can do. But it is also why I won't buy a bass from them anymore.

I'd like another Jazz Bass at some point. I used to have one but it didn't speak to me. I realise now that I didn't understand the nuances of how to dial in the pickups for different sounds/occasions - user error. This SBL vid is what has piqued my interest again... @17.40

@acidbass - you might be SOL there. They only seem to do them in black on their own website and seem to use Babicz solo rails on their own basses. - Today

I'd like to make this same mod on my NG3 5 string, but I think BD only have the bridges in black. I'd love one in chrome. Time to email Payson I guess!

Bruce Springsteen and the mighty E Street Band last night at Co-Op Live in Manchester. Seen Bruce many times but not for a while so hoped he’d still be up for it, and he absolutely was! They played for over two and a half hours straight through, with no signs of tiredness or slowing down. As well as Bruce, incredible performances from all of the 17 piece band, especially Max Weinberg on drums and the very cool Gary W. Tallent on bass. Gary mainly used a short scale Spector, but also a Guild Starfire semi in natural which sounded immense. Nils Lofgen was also on fire, being given quite a few extended guitar solos. A great sound for such a large venue, and well organised inside too. Shame the parking was so hit and miss though - okay getting in but dreadful queues on the way out mainly caused by conflicting crowds from the Etihad stadium next door. The football crowd should have been gone before we left ( kickoff at 8pm) but in a brilliant lack of consideration there was an extra 30 mins or so added to the game ( a special leaving feature or something) which meant both arenas emptied at exactly the same time. 70,000+ people trying to get away simultaneously meant a lot of frustration for all. Then our journey home involved two lengthy diversions off the M62 so I got in around 2am. Still, an amazing evening with an amazing band, wonderful.

Well Thomann just lost out on a sale. They have a few Lionels in stock so I enquired on the weight of two of them - approximately 5kg for each was the response. I very much doubt that, clearly a figure plucked out of the air, but if they can`t be bothered to sort out the actual weight for a £1600+ transaction then they can go and brew theirselves a cupoffukoff.

Sadly, I need to let go of my very special Spector NS Pulse II 5-string bass. Asking price is £1,000. I replaced the Tone Pump Jr pre-amp with a multi-coil filtering pre-amp from Lusithand Devices. Stock EMG pickups, not had a chance to swap them out with an actual multi-coil pickups but sounds amazing even without. If you are after the Wal sound, this setup will get you very close. Excellent condition, no scratches or dings, low action, no buzz, straight neck etc. UK buyers only. I'd prefer collection in person, but happy to post it via UPS or similar service (no evri) at the buyer's expense. Hard case included in price. Any questions, let me know! Specs: Body Wood: Solid Swamp Ash Neck Wood: 3-piece Roasted Maple; Bolt on Fretboard: Macassar Ebony Number of Frets: 24 Inlays: Dots Nut: Graphite Nut Width: 1.75" Scale: 35" Neck: EMG 40DC Bridge: EMG 40DC Bridge: Hi-mass Locking Tuners: Sealed Die-cast String Spacing at Bridge: .66"

Rickenbacker 4004L Truss Rods. Really?
prowla replied to Woodinblack's topic in Repairs and Technical
It's generally a good idea to push the neck to position anyway and use the rod(s) to hold it in place. (Unless they're dual-action ones.) This chap explains the reasoning. Ric documentation used to say bend it over your knee, but using a bench and clamps is probably a bit more refined. On a Ric, keep both roughly in-step, ie. don't do all on one and have the other loose. Also, on a RIc, press on the fretboard (at the 1st fret), not on the headstock (since you've got the TRC off, you can see there's not a lot of wood there to be pushing against). -
