Always amazed that the tiny pickup on the mustang can produce so much. Why do other basses have dirty great big things with loads of poles showing?
-
It's equivalent to a 1x10 in terms of cone area, but things such as excursion are also relevant. In practice, I've never found a 1x10 that betters one of my C4s or 4Bs. I felt a couple were equivalent - the baby Barefaced was one - but none were superior. That's imho, obviously.

Origin Effects BassRig Ampeg B15 Fliptop recreation
LukeFRC replied to Quatschmacher's topic in Effects
I've seen the guts of both (well a Origin Bassrig, not the new one) and they are very different in terms of the electrical complexity of what they are doing - so I'm not sure it's as simple as saying one pedal can do two sounds and another brand needs two pedals to do the samething. -
We gotta get out of this place - the animals- the late Chas Chandler Kyle Eastwood - any of his albums which feature a mixture of fretted and fretless bass and upright bass. Really accomplished player and a good composer.

I am really proud of this one. The tune is 'Emerald Tears' from the 1978 Dave Holland solo album of the same name. This is a challenging piece to write down. There is an explanation on the website of what my thinking was when putting this down on (virttual) paper. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/emerald-tears-dave-holland/

I have had several 5-string basses over the years and have found 35" scale basses to have better B strings than shorter scale instruments. I purchased a Lakland 55-02 Skyline online, mainly because I have heard of the legendary tone and I'm on a bit of a budget. I have to say that I love most every aspect of the bass. However, it seems to have a dead spot on the B string around the 4th and 5th (Eb and E) frets. In this range, notes sound tinny and do not have the robust growl the the bass does have below that. The open B is exhilarating. Has anyone else observed this on their bass? Is there a fix? Or do I need to pony up for the USA model?

Virtually new Fender Bassman 100 cover from Roqsolid, i got it to use while my flightcase was being manufactured so was only used briefly. Its a little dusty but will wipe. They're about £65 new + shipping Cover is in Hope Valley, happy to post within UK, probably gonna cost a tenner just for how small it doesn't fold up.

Shit, what a loss. Much as I already loved the roses it was his filth on vanishing point that completely sold me on him. That said, the only time I saw him with primal scream was a bit of a tepid affair I saw him with the roses in dublin a few years back though and it was an absolute belter. It was really cool to hear the crowd singing all his bass lines back at him. As an added bonus, the bass and guitar seemed to be panned in the mix and we were on the bass side so mostly got mani and reni

☝️ Press each string down on either side of the nut as well, so that it doesn't curve like a banana over the top. Reduces your chance of weird chorus-y noises. Same thing at the saddles too.

Cost me about £350 back in the day and was the core of my board and IEM setup for a number of years. Essentially it’s a 2 channel mixer with a DI, balanced and unbalanced out for the bass. With a 2nd input for an IEM feed, this input is switchable mono/stereo. So basically allows you to take a really great FOH signal or utter trash. I use to take a passive feed out of the back of PA speakers. There is then a thru for you to pass this feed on to other band members and I’ll include a 4 channel Behringer Headphone mixer (that currently I can’t find the 12v adaptor for) and you have an all in one IEM solution. So you have a control for the bass volume and the feed volume. Allows as I saw above to just grab anything from FOH and you’ll always be able to hear yourself. I do the same now with my Darkglass Anagram and in a pinch Element. Open to offers and as above will chuck in the Behringer 4 ch headphone amp and 2 pairs of 🤷🏻♂️ KS10’s (without tips for hygiene purposes) to give you a full wired simple IEM rig for those wanting to try it all out. Can also be used as a headphone amp with a Twelve South Airfly to add Bluetooth. This was made about 15 years ago so to me is noisier than I would like and the pots can be a bit crackly, but I’ve never sprayed any switch spray in there. Just part of my never ending clearout.

Aye - unless you're band is famous enough to garner the attention of the concerned parties, you can pretty much do what you want. So if you want to do the LV, crack on. - Today

I got into playing bass around the same time of discovering The Stone Roses, aged about 10/11 - I think the Stone Roses were just coming to and end and I bought everything CD single, album and bootleg I could find. Iconic bass lines, that weren't too hard to get a handle on and then discovering the grooves on the Second Coming - the bass line to Love Spreads... awe inspiring. Absolutely still love that to this day. Definitely a huge influence on me at a young age, and a bass player that had parts that worked inside the song and as hooks you could sing back. Absolutely gutted.
