  1. Past hour
  2. Th only difficult thing with the studio version is the 'Our only goal will be the western shore' bit, where you have to play ascending major scales at a brutal tempo. I can only get the speed by playing it with hammer-ons, so all credit if you can play it at tempo picking every note! There is a very effective cheat that you can use that sounds great, playing major pentatonics rather than the full scales. I first saw Michael Anthony (of Van Halen) doing that on a video from some jam at a party, where he was playing the bass part and singing lead. That's a very difficult thing to do, hence simplifying the bass part slightly. I tend to play like that with drummers who perhaps haven't really nailed the part, or are playing it at a too fast tempo (it's surprising how many people want to play this when they ask you to sit in or at jams). If you want to challenge yourself, have a listen to some of the live versions where there is an extended guitar solo, where there is a lot of bass playing going on! The secret there is to play lots of runs using the F# blues scale, but targeting the flat fifth as much as you can get away with! Funnily enough, Kashmir is a pretty easy song to play, once you get the hang of the groove.
  3. Nice geeetar...surprised there wasn't more interest
  4. First and foremost It's the rhythm of one's bass playing that holds a band together and propels the rest to glory (whether they deserve it or not 😄). Rather than being a frustrated guitarist playing bass, I've always thought of myself as a frustrated drummer. Basically I play the drums on on bass, with the chord tones of whatever is going on being my kit. That's a very simple description of how I go about it but people always seem to like it.
  5. Wow! How does it sound? I’d be seriously considering getting a per string preamp and wiring a multichannel cable. I don’t know why though.
  6. Great little cab, I love mine
  7. I know I'm asking a question that can't be answered any chance there might be deals on these post Xmas?
  8. And am now currently tinkering around with The Immigrant Song.
  9. playable, yes. overcomplicated, yes. I would make a chord chart and play a bass line that actually makes sense. only reason to play this line is because it is part of some kind of unison or arrangement. if not, directly to thrash
  10. Free As A Bird - The Beatles
  11. I guess it could've been difficult to include Cozy without some of the circumstances surrounding his tragic premature death?
  12. Having just picked up something up I’ve been after for a while something should probably go, so 1st up is this Rumour, (I have a stingray advertised too) first of all it has some lacquer cracks (only in the lacquer) I’ve contacted Bow finishing who did a lot of Bernie’s finishing and he said it’s not uncommon and any easy fix, it’s just never bothered me, otherwise is in great condition, gorgeous quilted maple, hardly any fret wear, GB hard case and a custom made ebony ramp, no trades I’m afraid, will post

  13. Try a few. I find some hex wrenches can vary a bit, especially the no name/budget ones you buy as a set. I bought a decent set (Wera) and find they fit well.
  14. This weekend I’ve been learning Hills And Valleys by Buju Banton , played well here by Frank Negrao , still working on the changes around 1.95
  15. Any material will have a dead spot as it has a resonant frequency, for wood it's really audible around the D2 and it's upper harmonics, and if you add more mass to the headstock you'll move it between two notes, that's the idea. Carbon or composite designed instruments are the less prone to audible dead spot: There will be one as it's inevitable, but it will be at very high frequencies.
  16. And here's a short demo vid for this amp - one of the best I've ever seen for any amp head! EBS 360 HD demo
  17. Chris bought a pickup from me. Smooth and easy transaction, thanks buddy
  18. Out of interest, have you signed up to the course(s), or just using the YouTube channel? I often pop into the YouTube channel for Jazz Piano tips. Like you say, some great resources.
  19. Today
  20. Freebird - Lynyrd Skynyrd
