  1. Past hour
  2. There’s singing and playing and then there’s entertaining and it’s the latter is the must have skill for a frontperson
  3. Probably too much of an ask, and not a deal breaker, but any chance of a slimmer nut width on the 4 ray? 40mm-38mm? Appreciate I maybe in a minority and it may not be feasible though.
  4. Anyone had to replace these - one of the machine heads snapped on mine - I read on TalkBass that someone used Gotoh GB707s on a SR500, but i don't know whether these are the same size as SRH500s. Any others that would fit, and be better than the stock die-cast ones. Thanks
  5. Er miss? I think you dropped this -
  6. I just purchased a couple of pedals from Paul. Top guy, a great deal on a couple of very well looked after effects pedals, well packaged and all sorted really quickly. Much appreciated!

  13. Matt bought a couple of pedals from me, all went very smoothly and a great chap to deal with! Cheers!
  14. I bought a solid body Kala U-bass and wanted flatwounds for it, but accidentally bought the ukulele u-bass flat wounds by accident. (I needed the 23.5" set. This set are for 20.5" scale length. Duh). Packed opened, but strings were never actually put on the bass, obviously, so basically brand new. Currently cost £55 from Thomann, plus £10 P&P. Postage included in the price.

  15. It's the weight of the seventies' bass that gets you.
  16. I was trying my hardest Terry. Soz.
  17. A slight derail but hopefully relevant. A couple of years ago I did a wedding gig in Derbyshire with a pop / soul band that are OK ( they're somewhat stuck in 2nd gear for my taste) who have got a great female singer. Midway through set 2 we got asked, " can you do Valerie again, my friend does a great version of it "....we obliged, our singer shuffled to the side of the 'stage' and we launched into it for the 2nd time that gig. The friend, who wasn't unattractive at all and must have towered nearly a foot over me ( I'm 5 ft 7) in heels really belted it out. Very strange experience: I remember glancing over in a bit of fellow artist bonhomie / esprit de corps but we band underlings were as invisible as glass collectors I suppose. She left the stage to polite applause, I think the experience was deflating to her somehow. Her voice was loud, in tune and she was confident but completely lacked all the things that make a singer a singer. She must have been half as loud again as the usual singer but there was nothing appealing at all about her admittedly ad hoc performance. I suppose that is the karaoke tradition for you. It made me realise that I have been fortunate enough to play with decent singers that hold an audience for quite a while. She continued to completely blank us as we set the gear down. Fair enough, we weren't exactly the Brothers Johnson.
