  1. Past hour
  2. It was indeed a cheap Korean brand that came out in the mid 80's, and lasted through the 90's. Nothing to fancy there, cheap instruments from the bad Korean period. Tried a few at the Musikmesse in Frankfurt back then, but none of them were great.
  3. I’ll just wait for the Harley Benton version for £500 in yellow 🙂
  4. This is a great price for an excellent bass. The Contemporary series as a whole is nothing like the more visible Ignition basses. For a start, the neck is “floating” - I.e. there’s a gap beneath it, north of the neck pickup - which adds to the instrument’s resonance and authenticity, and also means you can use the proper Hofner strap. The sound is much fuller and somehow “richer” than the Ignition too, and the control plate is also authentic, with the “upside down “ bass and treble switches. Essentially, it’s a completely different instrument. GLWTS.
  5. So we’re thinking of upgrading our PA. Current system is Behringer XR18, dBX DriveRack PA, an old pair of Peavey Pro 15 powered subs, and a pair of EV ZLX15P tops. As we’re all using in-ears now, and with most of us having the gear to go amp-less, we’re thinking of going down that route. The band is a southern rock five-piece (2 x guitar, bass, drums, fiddle) and we play everything from small pubs to largish clubs. I’m looking to get a good solid kick drum and get increased vocal headroom as we, on occasion, run out of headroom. There is lots of chat on here about how to get a great sound with minimal kit, but if you had a budget of £5k, what would you buy? To give you a steer, I’m old school, so I don’t see us going out without subs, and I’d not rule out going back to passive cabs if it reduced the weight of each individual element as we’re all getting on these days.
  6. Cheapo instruments, maybe Korean brand, from 90's?
  7. Thank you. Just the straight advice I’d need. saw a beautiful Aria Ric copy but the neck had a very exaggerated positive pitch. I guess if I really needed to get it I could convert the glued neck to a bolt in.
  8. I think it’s around 4.5kg (I don’t have any scales so can’t be more precise)
  9. Preferd it in the colour announced last year Unlike how un-niche it was when the first one came out in 1979? Think it looks great, hopefully I can get a several second hand version of the production version at some point!
  10. Thank God says me
  11. King Tut

    Sire Z3

  12. Bought in the hope i could get away with 30 all valve watts but unfortunately not. Brand new JJ EL84’s fitted and comes with a spare set of EH valves. Really nice amp and tone to die for - if i could have this tone with more power id be in heaven! Collection from Bolton or could do a meet up. Could cut a deal if you want the ABM 4x10 ive also advertised on here. Would consider part ex for a Cali 76 Bass compact

  13. Me too. The codes worked fine in the Players Circle.
  14. I went in there last month and the Sire Z 5 bass I tried was pretty good but the bass selection overall was a little underwhelming. Anyhoo...welcome aboard. Try to avoid the market place if you want to stay solvent.
