  1. Past hour
  2. If you're really worried (given the occasion) you could ask your doctor for Beta Blockers ? Good luck, and try to relax. Knowing that everyone there will be rooting for you will help. So sorry about your brother.
  3. You won't need to be VAT registered, unless your turnover exceeds the VAT threshold. You'd be claiming back the VAT on your costs but charging VAT to your customers (making you 20% more expensive). Let's say you buy (VAT'able) parts at £600 (incl £100 of VAT). If you plan to make £200 out of the bass you are looking at two possiblities. VAT registered you will charge (500 + 200) + 20% = 840 Non-registered you will charge (600 + 200) = 800. Being VAT registered also imposes admin costs so you would have to add those costs into your pricing model. VAT registration is a no brainer if your customers are VAT registered. Not so much if they aren't.
  4. One of @NancyJohnson's advantages is that he has a reputation on basschat, as an all-round good egg, and nice chap. That counts for something - I know that he won't act in a way that will harm my interests, because he would in turn damage his hard-won reputation.
  5. Oops, sorry🙈 they have been slightly trimmed with plenty of silk left for a good few turns to fit a single sided Fender J or P Bass Cheers, Tim
  6. Two Of Us - Beatles
  7. Have a bump on me - these things are awesome
  8. Looking to move my qupac on as I’m pulling the trigger on an SQ. comes with the manufacturer fitted case. I’m based in Leicester, but I’m quite often in Birmingham/Sheffield/Nottingham
  9. Good way to find out that everybody in the band was a closet polka fan... and then what?
  10. The one I have is really well made. It’s been a brilliant purchase.
  11. I thought it was ok particularly in the context of the usual Saturday evening tv fare. Quite a feat to get a potentially unwieldy large orchestra playing tightly together, most of the time. Good rhythm section played their part in this. Bass seemed a bit weak initially then it became stronger particularly when the arrangements doubled it with tuba. BVs great as were Jacob Lusk and Beverley Knight. Others in between were a bit iffy. And the audience were clapping on two and four. Strictly CD it wasn’t!
  12. Bought in the hope i could get away with 30 all valve watts but unfortunately not. Brand new JJ EL84’s fitted and comes with a spare set of EH valves. Really nice amp and tone to die for - if i could have this tone with more power id be in heaven! Collection from Bolton or could do a meet up. Could cut a deal if you want the ABM 4x10 ive also advertised on here
  13. I had a revelation on Friday/Saturday I've been struggling the past few weeks with my IEMs. I didn't realise they were the problem, I thought my hearing was to blame. Everything seemed too loud and my in ear mix wasn't working It dawned on me after Friday night's dep gig that the seal wasn't very good I changed the comply tips, I've had the same ones for over a year All of a sudden, Wham! Perfect seal and a near perfect mix at Saturday's gig I am so happy
  14. Peavey did plenty of PJ/jazz neck models. B-90 is the blue one. Foundation S black on the right 2nd photo. 3rd photo DynaBass black on left, Unity red on the right. Zodiac DE Scorpio l & R 4th photo. You could buy all 6 for under £1400 🙂
  15. One of the Levy’s straps now sold. Still got the other one and the Fender strap folks…
  16. Hi Chris, Seems I don’t automatically get a notification when someone replies! I’ve PM’d you the number. Terry
  17. It’s such a hard thing. To make it worthwhile you need to buy the goods at cost. So you’ll need to be VAT registered. Then you’ll need to ensure they’re well built, work well and you have a customer service policy in place. If you’re selling goods commercially you have responsibilities to the buyer (and the taxman). You could build a few and then sell them online here, but personally I can’t see it being worth the effort.
  18. Hi. After much deliberation, I am putting up for sale my Barefaced Retro Two10. Silver cloth grille version; drivers are Barefaced 10CR250. 12 Ohm non-switchable, comes with a Roqsolid padded cover. Tested and working. Has been pretty much in retirement since I bought my AER Amp One. Far too good a cab to not be used other than taking up space. Slight Tolex-lift on the rear and side/bottom panels to which I have effected a modestly-successful repair. Other than that, this cab is in excellent condition. Lightly gigged and never pushed hard. Couriered at cost (£30 max depending on insurance) or pre-arranged pick up within a reasonable distance for fuel cost.

  19. One of the best combo around, and it's damn powerful. GLWYS.
  20. Is anyone from here going to that service ? they might be able to give you constructive criticism or more likely praise
  21. I print mine at work, doesnt cost me anything then 😇 Agree with BigRedX, the standards size is 85mm x 55mm as it's pretty much the same size as a credit card, so fits in a wallet better. We are finding more and more that people are using 88.9 x 50.8 instead. Not on purpose, but that a the default that some programs use and they dont bother to change it. Also if you are going to have a background printed or anything that goes right to the edge, it's better to set up a 3mm bleed on each side.
  22. I had my first rehearsal with the Hulla band for two months last night, and it was the first time I'd played 'live' for about 6 weeks. We were down four members of the band (we're usually 13 so there was more than enough for a coherent sound). Everyone was fresh after the break and keen to play and I think that is what made the session a really great couple of hours. We just played through a number of the more up tempo songs on the provisional set list for a 40th birthday gig on 20 Sept. There was quite a bit of improvising (which is rare in this band) and we finished early (which is also rare). Highlights: We played a nice version of 'Take Me To The River', a bit more laid back than normal and which spontaneously became quite slow and funky in the middle, with some great and appropriate guitar noodling from the BL (who doesn't normally noodle). We went into that section and came out of it with no real cues and at the end we all agreed we should that kind of improvisation more often. We did a version of 'House of the Rising Sun' and instead of our trombonist taking the lead breaks as she wasn't, there yours truly took over and played some improvised bass riffs and - whisper it so they won't hear on BC - an actual bass solo for which I got several compliments when we finished. Lowlights: It was the first time I'd used the radio transmitter for the bass for 2 months and something had gone wrong with them as the sound I was getting for the soundcheck was more akin to an old ring modulator being played through a tinny transistor radio speaker. Not sure what happened there but I swapped to analogue technology, in the form of the spare lead I always take with me, and the problem was solved. I decided to take my Hohner 'The Jack', purchased from these hallowed halls, as it hadn't had an airing for a while and it sounded and played really well.
  23. Those are the original pickups. As I said in my last post, Peavey made two versions of the TL-5. Version 1 was built from 1986 to 1990, had small passive pickups, a different preamp and a Schaller 3D bridge. The bass you own is a Version 2, built from 1991 to 1996.
