Aliwobble started following Does Size Matter? Is 8” Big Enough?

My band gigged with Cerwin Vega CVA28 tops (they are an active 2x8) for a decade with a single 18" sub underneath. Plenty loud enough for pub gigs and marquee weddings. I'm doing sound for other bands now, using the same setup, and my musicians love them and the audience is happy.

I’m not aware that MXR/Dunlop own their own production facilities, although even if they do, it’s not really likely that a company would dime their capabilities in order to fulfill backorders, they’ll ramp up production slowly so they can find a sweet-spot between supply and demand. You don’t want more stock than you need, especially on a niche product, because stopping and then startint (again) production is not a simple task. Si

Let's Goooooooo! Wife has got a bit of a cold, so is staying home. I'll be doing the door etc. See you all later. -
Selling my set of original pre-CBS reverse wound Precision/Jazz bass tuners. I bought these for a project bass about 10 years ago. I think the ferrules were included at the time, but I can't confirm the age of the ferrules or the screws. If there are any obvious ways to verify the age of the ferrules, please let me know. Any questions, please ask.

We should put a double header on. I described one of the original songs the Americana band I'm in plays as Placebo playing Bluegrass 🤔 -
Aliwobble started following Vocal Microphones, what are you using?
-
My taste in vocal mics appears to slightly non- standard. Sennheiser e945 for lead vocal to cut through. EV PL80 for a vocalist who needs their voice warmed up. Audiotechnica AE4100 which is similar in flavour to SM58 but better in every way.

I have exchanged a few messages with Laurence over the course of this year as I was very interested in a bass he was looking to move on. Sadly for me at least I didn’t manage to raise the finances as I had instruments to sell and no takers, which is often the way when something comes along. Timing is everything it seems! He is an absolute top bloke, very polite, patient, self effacing with a great sense of humour. Clearly he is also a very decent human being!! I am really glad you got your bass back as it looks like a beauty. I played a Suhr Jazz at BassBros recently which was indeed a wonderful instrument and it’s easy to see why you love ‘yours’ so much. Congratulations and well done Three for making such a magnificent gesture. ❤️

It’s a wonderful thing, language. I think anything that helps a potential audience identify what kind of stuff you’re playing is helpful. I remember, pre-internet going to see bands that I knew nothing about, and couldn’t find out. Sometimes their name gave you a clue, but not always. I’m considering relaunching my acoustic trio as playing Country n’ Sludgebucket. -

Once you have decided which tuning you are going with it would be worth giving Newtone Strings a call who have a great reputation for custom gauge sets.
