Hi Jonny, where are you based? I ask as I’d chat with an experienced player or teacher in person. I struggled for ages on my own but the lessons sorted out everything in a few weeks. The bow is a new instrument in itself and, in my experience, is taking a huge amount of time to improve. But it’s worth it.

Toying with a new pickup for the Bronco but unsure what to go for. There's the hot rail type pickup which most go for, or there's the purpose-made types from McNelly and Toltec which also look good. I also see Retrovibe make a blade/rail type pickup "for bass" but I don't see how it is any different from the plethora of cheap hot rail-alikes on Amazon/eBay Anyone have any input on what they've done to theirs? -
Afternoon hive mind, on my beginners journey I am looking at buying a bow. I have some questions... is there anything to avoid in particular? Should i go wood or carbon fibre? Does size matter? My bass is 4/4, do i need a 4/4 bow or will a 3/4 be sufficient? Roisin? What, which when and how.... Jonny

I am astounded how many of you report 'out of tune syndrome' ... I thought it was just me.

Or in ear monitors. Lino’s P sounds so good!

Wait a bit until they settle in, and you'll like them even more. Amazing strings for that price tag. -

I'm sure that sounded amazing through the Watkins Dominators and other miserably small amps of the era! A design introduced too early? -
We were back at The Queens Arms in Brixham on Saturday night. I managed to bag a parking space right outside, which is unheard of. Another good night with an appreciative landlord and crowd. During the break a guy came up to ask me about my rig as he didn't recognise my Ashdown RM 500 evo ii and BF 210 cab, so we had a chat about them. He was actually a guitarist and did recognise my stingray, and was very complimentary on my sound and the balance with our guitarist. 11pm finish luckily, so no too late arriving home.

I get that occasionally too. I just have to trust my eyes and proprioceptors.

Paddy777 started following Tech21 VT Bass Deluxe - £170 posted

For sale is my Tech21 VT Bass Deluxe. 6 programmable presets (either 6 for one bass or plug 2 different basses and have 3 for each). It’s a preamp, amp/cab sim, fx loop, dirt pedal & AB Switcher and DI all in one and can make several pedals redundant. It runs on a standard 9v pedalboard power supply or a 9v square battery which I thought was pretty impressive for such a powerful unit - great if you’re always running out of inputs on your power supply like I am You get really excellent sounds from it, Ampeg SVT to B15 through to RATM and plenty more - if you’re looking at this you probably know all about the pedal already and don’t need me to explain it to you Works perfectly, I’ve put some duo-lock on the bottom since these photos were taken. I paid £199 for this inc postage on eBay the other week but I’ve decided to stick with my smaller footprint VT Bass v1 as I don’t actually need the DI function or FX loop Comes with insert card that has the Tech21 presets on, will be sent well packaged and wrapped in bubble wrap/boxed etc £170 inc postage - May accept trades or PX’s (or even PX + cash to you for something I really want) Preamps, Compressors, Lo-gain dirt maybe, but you’re welcome to try me - I’m fairly easily tempted 😁

I remember The Bottom Line, but more because Steve Manes also ran a Triumph email list which I was on. I've learnt a lot about the existence of many makes of bass which I never knew existed, all of which are very expensive and several of which I now own. It appears that the level of one's knowledge is in inverse proportion to the contents of one's bank account.
