Bleat started following Aria FEB F2/FL Fretless Acoustic Bass
-
I bought a non fretless Aria FEB recently. Has a really nice low action, looks, plays, and sounds wonderful. For the money it's amazing. I just use standard bronze acoustic strings on it as I like that sound and tonality. I have replaced the tuners recently and added a Hipshot Xtender also. To help reduce feedback issues, along with using the built in notch filter, I had to get a bit creative with some dampening material stuffed in the body. It has a bit of extra weight now, but can get some decent volume levels through my amp.

TimR started following Gazz seems...upset

Before the days the internet really got going I received an email reveiw from a 'producer' who had been at one of our gigs. I'm sure he was trying to be helpful. I read it several times before replying - "Thanks for your email." In hindsight I think that was 4 words too many.

I think you can get too hung up on this sort of thing. If you put stuff up on social media you are going to encounter people who get their kicks from trolling. I see it all the time on the most innocuous clips on Instagram, people obviously just trying to upset other people for the hell of it. What they are after is attention either from the original poster or other commenters, the more negative the better, as far as they are concerned being noticed is a win for them. The best way to deal with it is just to ignore them. Don't give them any indication that you've even seen it. Deny them the attention they are seeking and leave them thinking that they're wasting their time trying to engage with you and they'll move on.

GENZ BENZ AMP SAC. Price dropped

I know it's not really the done thing to advertise here, but i feel in this case I might be helping someone out. Will be returning the Mantle if only because I'll never sell the Noble, but I'd be delighted with either. As I got it for a small discount, and it's readily available, I have put it in the classified today only in case somebody would like to save a little/jump the queue.
-
I think in terms of processing power, build quality, sounds, and price it's still very competitive. I'm not sure anyone really needs more than 3x parallel paths and 24 simultaneous effect blocks. And the sounds all seem good to me. What would be interesting (but not essential) are some more innovative sounds: Synth, Arpeggiator, sample triggering, tone capture, glitchy stuff etc. And I think all multi fx need to put more effort into the user interface, it's the main reason so many people still use individual effects pedals. e.g. if a live situation I'm using a multi fx for Compressor, Amp sim, Drive, and just one part of a song I suddenly feel (with no preset pre planning) a phaser would be good - how realistic is it to be able to do Vs individual pedals where it's just 'stomp on the phase 90'.

knicknack started following Walrus Audio Mantle... quickly!

This is a bit of one day only thing... I can return it but given that i got it a little cheaper than retail and it's readily available i thought I'd offer it out here for what i paid, including UK mainland postage. As anyone who is looking at this will have probably seen, I've been shooting out a bunch of preamps and I've been finding it impossible to come to a conclusion, seem to have a different favourite every time. With that in mind, I've decided, for now, to stick with the ones I know the best, although I can see myself revisiting this down the line. Very happy to answer any questions you might have! Haven't taken any pics but it's a brand new mantle, used on my desk for some testing.

Garageband Vs Logic Pro - Which one should I choose?
rwillett replied to loud_melody's topic in Recording
There are now TWO versions of Logic Pro, one is part of their subscription model that has recently been released, Apple Creator Studio (https://www.apple.com/uk/apple-creator-studio/) and one is the pay once version (https://www.apple.com/uk/logic-pro/) The Creator Studio has AI stuff that the pay once version doesn't. I have no idea what value this other stuff is. I already have and paid for Logic Pro, Final Cut Pro, Compressor, Main Stage, Affinity Photo/Designer/Publisher along with MS Office (which I must have for work) so for me, it makes little sense to get the subscription. Certainly all my Apple apps get updated at regular intervals so I'm happy with what I have. Rob -
Riot Jazz at Manchester Albert Hall. Upstairs for the first time - it’s not the very best sound compared to some venues, but a great view. That’s mininekomatic2’s trombone teacher on the right. A cracking good time was had by all.
-
Bought new, kept it in pedalboard since forever. Actually I’m not even removing it until it sells don’t have the original box though (I moved between places since buying). It has 3M Dual Lock Velcro underneath, and naturally is in full working order. Wasn’t stomped much - I was usually engaging it through paired DMC Micro. And on rare occasions it was - it has the button cap! Highly recommended. I can post through Royal Mail Tracking24 for 5 quid or we can arrange local pickup in London

Garageband Vs Logic Pro - Which one should I choose?
BigRedX replied to loud_melody's topic in Recording
No, not at all. However, if the presets are any good you'll find that lots of other people are already using them and you will start to recognise them in other records. And my point was that rather spending money on buying another plug-in it would be better value to learn how to really use the ones you already have. Some of the greatest ever recordings were made with technical facilities that were inferior to what is included with GarageBand and Logic. I'm sure a good mix engineer would have no problem producing a great sounding recording without needing to resort to 3rd party plug-ins. -
I got a reply from the son of the manufacturer with some snagging documents I have shared with my repair bloke. I will let you know if we get an outcome.
