Up for sale is my musicman stingray. Originally a burgundy colour that was then sprayed orange, so i had the bass professionally stripped and refinished in clear satin. beautiful ash body. The original neck has been completely refinished, fret board cleaned and refretted, the headstock has a new coat of clear coat. The rear of the neck has been left as natural wood as i don't like sticky necks, the neck is now unbelievably fast playing. Electronics were tested and cleaned. All original hardware. I have a gig bag and cardboard box, so it can be posted, I think fully insured would be about £30.

(Thought this was an amp as well so listed it here!) This is a new, sealed and never used Bose S1+ Pro speaker. This was purchased by my business from Thomann before Christmas (you can see the slip case on the top!) This is the one with the built in rechargeable battery. It was bought for some events that never happened, and as a result remains completely sealed and brand new. Can’t return it as it’s been too long. Looking for £500 collected or can send for £15 with full insurance (and another box, obviously!)

Finally! I mean all she had to do is record over 9000 songs perfectly, through multiple decades! 😁 Like one does.

My 5yo has a cheapo uke she gets out every now and then, and I also share my u-bass with her. At this age she doesn't really care about fretting, but the right hand rhythm is already starting to show as she's trying to mimic the music. I guess it builds a foundation!

Rehearsed it again last night, set of La Bella Deep Talkers, action raised a little and PUP lowered and it was glorious (although PUP is slightly noisy I guess that goes with the SC territory). An advantage of the madly long neck is that I found I can use the very end of it as a thumb rest, and in doing so can play right over the PUP which is my preferred style, so that problem might be solved 👍

My favourite is the Mutations album - the album between albums (odelay - MNV) that his record company let him release as not the official follow-up to Odelay because it wasn't commercial enough but he was writing so much stuff. Here's some Diamond Boll**ks for your shell-like...

Jon Shuker did my Valenti #005. He can pretty much give you whatever profile you need. If you know the measurements of the Ian Hill neck, he can replicate it. Crimson Guitars (spendy) or Laverack could be other options but Jon would be my first call. Neck shaving and refin is at the luthier end of the Tech to Luthier scale.

I'm never pitching the band so it's hard to come up with a big selling point. I think most of our gigs come from " call ins" so I can't imagine we have to pitch very much. " We're very clean" Would that work? Lol Daryl

Nothing to bring back since - as far as I'm concerned - the 15" cabs never went away. I don't mind a nice 4x10" setup - or even the monstrous EV1803 - but my preference were always 15" loaded cabs, be it single. double or a quad... Many harvests ago I played a festival with a Marshall Major head and two matching 4x15" cabinets...a *lot* of air got moved that night by silly old me... Ahh to be young again...and playing through 15" speakers makes me at least feel young(er)... Obviously, YMMV and then some...

Cioks 4 would be my choice Just use a daisy chain cable on one of the outputs. But this is by far my favourite power supply. -

I started on classical guitar (my brother's, as it happens). Very difficult to play barre chords (I have a classical guitar now, and still find it difficult to play barre chords on, 55 years later). A steel-strung acoustic proved much easier to play.

I've been pondering the idea of a video wall. My 80s band played a gig in front of one a few years ago, and our frontman's daughter very kindly created an MP4 of instantly-recognisable 80s films. We'll pass lightly over the licensing fee issue... It worked really well. I'd have liked to include some more political footage - the Falklands war, the miners' strike, a few memorable Spitting Image sketches and so on - but the link between the music and the footage made quite a difference. Video wall controllers aren't as expensive as they used to be, and second-hand flat-screen TVs could be used instead of pricey monitors, but including one involves (a) more gear to cart about, (b) a longer set-up time, (c) whoever is rigging the video wall needs to be done and dusted before the drummer and bass player need to set up and (d) most importantly, the video wall support needs to be stable enough so that it won't tip over and fall on the band. And it needs to be easy to fit-up and strike, too. Not a simple ask. But if I can find solutions, it'll solve the problems with having to have projectors out front in just the right place.

I didn't bother. They're not going to be travelling very far over the lifetime of the bass, after all, when compared with the normal applications for thrust bearings.

Rock Summer Schools for 'Vintage' Musicians ?
Stub Mandrel replied to RhythmJunky's topic in Theory and Technique
I found a 'weekend warrior' course in Nottingham... no longer running. It was five or six rehearsals each a week apart, then a gig with each of six 'bands' doing 30 minutes. Got me back into the game and three of us started a band, which is still going under a new name after I moved away. Transformed my life getting back into playing.
