Fret sensing seems to be the preferred method at the moment. Alternatively have a look at the Roland V-Bass system which is based around modelling to process the audio output of the individual strings.

I used them quite a bit in the days when Alan at ACG was stocking them. They're nothing like Elixirs so if you are after something similar you may be disappointed. Since they have become less easy to find in the UK I've stopped using them and now favour Warwick Black Label for my basses that would have had SIT string before.

Custom painted (printed) part bass-peacock context...
edstraker123 replied to bgmttt's topic in Bass Guitars
Hmmm - just thinking if you did a clear pickguard and then printed on the back of it, it wouldn't need to be lacquered. Endless possibilities ! Is it something you would be happy to do for your BC friends and if so what would the costs be roughly ? ( I assume each job could be different ) -
6 x Music Man 2EQ LM4250CN Preamp to assemble, exactly the same as the Boscoe 2EQ preamp. 4 of them will come with a thick MM plate. They will be delivered with enough length of coloured wires (not the whole box) and 3M double sided foam. Each preamp has a real LM4250CN opamp, tantalum capacitors, Radio knobs and real MM output jack. The price for everything pictured in the first photo. NO TRADES! PRICE NON-NEGOTIABLE! Asking price, fully insured delivery with tracking number, to your home, for the following European countries (for other countries, please contact us): Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France (excluding French overseas territories), Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom: €350 (£310 GBP is an approximation and I will only accept payment in Euros)! Shipping to the UK is of course possible and included in my asking price, but with additional customs charges (VAT + other taxes + courier costs), as the UK is now outside the EU, just ask. Due to the fact that I don't play bass anymore, I'm selling all the stuff I'm not using like this one. I've also considerably lowered the price for a quick sale as, new, it would cost you 30% more than my asking price… Don't hesitate to ask for more details, but, please, before asking read my ad first as the answer is certainly already in it! Raising cash so up for sale is IMHO one of the finest tracking octavers available for bass (and i cant bring muself to sell my OC2) It has two distinct octave voices a Growl which replicates the toothy synth tone of an OC2 and a Girth which is smooth and deep like an EBS octabass/octamizer. You can get subtle variations from mixing the two. It also has a switchable mid boost/cut on the clean tone which can be adjusted internally, very handy. Usual small MXR enclosure with fantastic build quality. Its in great condition and a beautiful deep blue sparkle. No box, but will be well packed. This does Not have the noise issues associayed with the early versions) (Note- the A sticker will be removed and cleaned, ive a two channel setup and kept mixing them up 🤣) £80 incl UK only delivery

Fantastic Chorus/Flanger so effectively two pedals in one. Fully Analog utilising bucket brigade technology for warm vintage Chorus tones. Also feature a 2 band EQ so you can go from warm lush to shimmering modern sounds. It also has a switchable crossover so the effect can be applied only to the high frequencies (like the old Boss Bass chorus) leaving the bottom end nice and clean (a subtle but lovely sound) or a full range chorus sound for extra thickness. A button activates the Flanger mode which is my favourite, totally gives you that wide spacey Anthony Jackson tone. Definately a favourite pedal, but I do use Phaser a lot more. It's also a very cool Aqua colour, what's not to love. Its in reasonable condition, with a few chips in the finish, Im not sure if i have the original box,but will be very well packed. £95 incl Uk only delivery

Is a 550-Watt Power Module Enough for My Bass Rig?
itu replied to rodoyo9773's topic in General Discussion
One thing to consider is the amount of full power needed. Because of the signal bassists create, there's very seldom any situation where 100 % is needed for more than milliseconds. OK, if your amp is a small 30W unit, it will be fried in a loud band. Anything beyond 300 W is most likely enough (especially with a sensitive cab). -
Im about to move into a new flat and basically need everything 🤣 so a few odds and ends will find their way up for sale. This is a fantastic pedal, a licensed version of the vaunted Bugbrand bugcrusher which is very expensive. Its a sample rate reducer with clean blend and one of the most musical ive ever tried. It took me ages to find one used, but i lterally use it on two tunes with a band that rarely gigs, so up it goes. Its in fantastic condition with a lovely sparkly silver finish, its got velcro on the bottom, no box unfortunately. £95 incl UK only delivery

You might get a Jim Deacon shortie precision for £150. The construction of them is great but they do really need a few upgrades. I have two of them and put in a good pickup and loom (the stock pots were really on/off without gradient) and as they are neck-divey I put a set of Hipshot ultralite tuners on. So if you can find one of them and some luck with parts in the classifieds and you'd have a great little bass. One has rounds with an EMG P-X pickup and the other has an Aguilar AG-4P pickup and flats. They sound like great P basses. Just 30 inch. Slim nut with some nice chunk front to back and reasonably narrow spacing at the bridge too. Super easy to play. I'll quite often pick them before my Lionel, they are great with the upgrades. -

Gear4Music have a Mustang like bass in their Hartwood range. https://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/Hartwood-Delta-Bass-Guitar-Sunburst/6PQE There are other finishes. Apparently it’s pretty good for the money. I have the weirder Satellite medium scale and fit and finish are impressive for a sub £200 instrument. If that carries over, then worth a look IMO. Failing that, if you can find a used Sire U5 for your money, I would definitely check it out. -

There are various wired-fret basses (Industrial Radio Midibass (was one for sale on here and didn’t sell I think), ROR guitars Expressiv Midibass, Frettrax that can be used with any MIDI device. (Would not recommend ordering new from Industrial Radio though as after almost 4 years I still had no bass, lots of excuses, terrible communication, and had to put a lot of effort into getting my money refunded.) There are a few other MIDI guitar things like jamstick (or however it is named) and a few similar things.

Is a 550-Watt Power Module Enough for My Bass Rig?
chris_b replied to rodoyo9773's topic in General Discussion
Is 500 watts enough? Depends on the band, but most of all on your speakers. If your cabs are properly designed then 500 watts will be very loud. Is there is a difference between the loudness of D class watts and "traditional" power amp watts!! Probably not. -
Hired CGI starting 12/1/26 if anyone works there and knows it to be a 21st century version of “the satanic mills” featuring Dickensian levels of worker oppression, please tell me @Richard R the original people I told you about dicked me around from mid-September till today when they finally worked out they didn’t have the budget for my clearly planet-sized talent (joke! I’m not a guitard…) CGI called me exactly four minutes later to make an offer. It’s been a rollercoaster of a day. Huge relief at Chateau Geek. Been treated to a fancy Costa by Madame Geek which indicates approval

Does Size Matter? Is 8” Big Enough?
Bill Fitzmaurice replied to Chienmortbb's topic in PA set up and use
Zero. 😮 http://hornresp.net/ While it's called hornresp it will do horns, transmission lines, and direct radiators both sealed and ported. https://xsim.software.informer.com/ The only catch is you need Z and FRD files, but those are available for most drivers. Cost of the software is no issue. Learning how to use it is the hard part. Where going active is concerned there are full DSP plate amps at reasonable cost. Even if you go DIY with the amp the cost of DSP to go with it is about 10% of what it was 20 years ago. Not that I'd recommend trying to design your own for a one off build, the time it takes to acquire the skills required ranges from months for simple designs to years for complex designs. But there's no shortage of plans available from those who have done the work. -
Really high quality synth sounds, the kind I'm looking for too. Will see how the MXR handles them. A crazy thought, but is there any way a lightweight, affordable system could use light, electronics or EMR to be a superfast way of pitch detection based on finger placement, touch etc that could be input into the synth engine?

The colour match is pretty good. The ASDA cable is actually a better match to the amp than the speaker cabinet badge. It's quite hard to make out but I think it says 1.25mm2 -
Please recommend a wireless adaptor for stage mic
Woodinblack replied to Al Krow's topic in PA set up and use
We just use one wireless microphone but we also have a wireless sax, wireless bass, wireless X-Air mixer and Wireless IEMs, and haven't had any drop outs or anything. We found that we had a problem with the new Nux Sax wireless, the range wasn't great (certainly compared to the mic), so I now attach an XLR and hang the sax RX up near the front of the stage and the range is hugely better (ie, over double), so maybe that was inteference of them being plugged straight in the desk a few cms from each other - all the other wireless things are connected elsewhere. -

If it's only a temporary injury, you could do worse than a Squier Bronco or Gretsch Junior Jet 2nd hand.
