  1. Past hour
  2. 630 mile round trip, my brother had already done an 80 mile round trip to collect it from the seller, so 710 miles in total. I won't admit he was going to Edinburgh already or that I was heading up to Dunblane and back for his other half's 60th birthday at which I would be playing said bass...
  3. Had one of those "Dad this is my new number" scam texts this morning. Rather than immediately delete it, I'm going to see how long I can keep them going. I asked "is that you Felicity?" and they said yes. Obvs I do not have a daughter named Felicity :D

So now I've invented Felicity's no-good bum of a husband Hugo, who keeps selling her iPhones to fund his gambling habit. Let's see if they take that bait too.

  4. I also have a UK made Ashdown Klystron 115 cab with a cover that can go with this. £375 for the pair! Wonderful rig for next to nothing! Pics to follow.
  5. The baass was half way round from me
  6. Why didn’t you go the other way round? 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️😂
  7. I pulled this as the new price has dropped below £500 now. However, on reflection I think £600 for the amp in mint condition, plus the bluetooth adapter, footswitch and carry bag is still a good deal, so it's back up again.
  8. Do you mean heavy metal style? That would be minor/diminished tonality with the prominent flat 2 and raised 4/flat 5, not major . The only way I can imagine it used in major tonality is when playing over a first inversion of the V chord, for example B/G if playing in C. Even then emphasising the Flat II/V degrees of the mode wouldn't really be necessary as they wouldn't work as chord tones (technically the flat V would be a chord tone if it's a dominant 7, but again, Dom 7 chords are rarer these days in most popular music), just scale passing tones. To be honest I know very little about contemporary Christian music so I may be missing something here.
  9. My new build will be a fretless, headless 5 sting neck through. 5 piece neck: 3x wenge, 2x padouk. Swamp ash body with padouk top. Black hardware (not decided yet which) and one Lace Aluma Bass Bar PU at the stingray position. Model will be inspired by the NS Design radius bass, still have to work that out.. .
  10. But measured at 1% (I think?) THD. The reason tube amps sound louder is because they are delivering more watts than their rating as the are routinely pushed passed that percentage of THD. If you do that with a solid state amp, it hard clips and sounds nasty, but tube amps sound nice when they start to clip.
  11. Not as far as some here but all the way round the M25 , 33 junctions I think
  12. I bought this little M-Vave IR Box from Aliexpress .... £20. An IR Loader, an interface s di, with a headphone out. Comes loaded with mostly guitar IRs but a few bass options which are to my ears good! Loaded some Sigma Audio DB IRs and my EUB sounds great (might all be in my head 😄 may be no difference) I plugged the interface into cubase and it recorded fine. Controlled via buetooth. I mean even just as a tiny headphone amp its great for the price. Bloke goes into some detail on talk bass https://www.talkbass.com/threads/m-vave-ir-box-review.1668489/ I'm sure it's not a patch on more expensive devices but it was £20.
  13. Morning all. Dont suppose anyone knows the size of screw used by orange for their Bass Terror at all? Its the screws that hole the main cage/lid onto the amp. The OG ones are seemingly made of cheese and strip at the sight of a screw driver. Looking to upgrade them to something a bit stronger

  15. Perhaps opposite to what others have said earlier in this thread but in my head at least I've found it simplest to just learn the interval sequence of the major scale - but really learn it off by heart with all finger positions and playing right up/down over multiple octaves, jumping strings etc. Basically apply that 'Ionian' of the chart to a bass fretboard. Then it is just a case of where you start/finish to play all the modes. It clicked with me that the 'Aeolian' is the minor scale shapes, so instead of 'I need to learn the major and minor scales/shapes' (which I did first) I realised I could have just really learned the major inside-out and but started/finished on the 6th note, and the same applies for all of the others, for a long time I found it confusing to think 'to learn Dorian I need to remmeber to play a major scale with flat 3rd and flat 7th', much simpler to just play the major scale intervals - but start/finish on the 2nd note. Saying that though, I don't think this technique of basically learning as shapes on a fretboard works if changing instruments, or changing bass tuning to drop D etc.
  16. Have they a cheap 62 Jazz as well?
  17. Great set up. Ran exactly the same rig for a few years pre covid. GLWTS
  18. Do it. If they’re going to be so belligerent towards suggestions that this was a scam then they need to prove otherwise….
  19. As I actually don’t know - never used Subs - where would you put them please? We have a pair of Bose F1s and they are fine with me going straight in with my stomp in the small pubs we play. Great hifi like sound! But been thinking for a while that we may need a sub if we ‘break out’ and play anything bigger! So knowing where to put it/them would be good! A supplementary question (to which I guess the answer is ‘no’) is that I have an old pair of Alto 12s gathering dust (they are sooo heavy) so could one/both of them be used as subs? Cheers peeps.
  20. Today
  21. Before condemning IEMs, I must point out that I have on more than one occasion, done exactly the same, ie not unmuting FOH ........ And none of the band noticed. And that was using wedges!!! I realised and rectified the issue and the band were none the wiser! I may have me toned elsewhere that the and always want more in the monitors, with the resultant feedback issues !!!!! 😭
  22. HA! Stand down emergency, if you'll pardon the pun. Plan B came through unexpectedly well. I have all the stands I need now. Massive shout out to my local, friendly, independent guitar shop - Ramjam in Aberdeen who had the exact stands I was looking for - not in their official inventory but bought for their own purposes but not used. Sold them to me especially. Great bunch of lads. See you tomorrow!
  23. Yeah so our rig revolves around a 12-channel Behringer Mixer, 2x 1500w tops and 4 wedges. The mixer allows for us two send out two independent mixes to the wedges, so we usually have one mix for guitars/bass, and one for singer and drummer (singer occasionally just takes house mix). I wanted to go ampless mostly because I'm the only person in the band who doesn't drive a little hatchback, so all of that gear is my responsibility to lug around. There's not much room left in the car after that for an amp.
  24. Shame on the pickguard. I forgot to let you know that the polish & cleaner arrived the other week, thanks for sending it back. Rob
  25. Brother, Can You Spare A Dime ? - Bing Crosby
  26. Beggin - Frankie Valli
  27. Charity - Skunk Anansie
