    Which mx5 do you have? I have a mx5 nd (4th and current generation) and can tell you that a barefaced 110 cab does fit in, two barefaced 110s will not fit in the mx5 (nd) boot so a barefaced 210 will not either. Some 112 cabs may fit but I would definitely check first if you can. I would expect that many 112 cabs would not be able to fit in. I believe the nc boot is a little bigger.

    Actually Music Ground was a pretty good shop back in the day when it first opened just outside Doncaster in Stainforth. A old Co-Op shop, it was rammed with guitars and amps, new and s/h. It then moved to Doncaster town centre, then some of the staff left to establish Electro Music which was IMO the best music shop in Yorkshire / The North.

    A good one. That's both sets sorted. They threw some unexpected arrangements at me tonight and I had to cope on the fly. We finished by jamming Need Your Love So Bad. Typical Peter Green song - sounds like a standard 12 bar blues but is very different. Amazed myself by anticipating the chord sequence and even managing a bass solo - I've never played it before. TBH that's as good as it gets 🙂

    I’m mostly a P guy all the way and wanted to try the P+J settings both in series and parallel on my SP1. I just couldn’t get along with it, sounds very humbucker-ish to me vs a more traditional PJ(for reference I like the Yamaha BBP35 PJ tone). J tone solo I got no problem, I can get a nice fat Jaco-ish tone. It’s just the PJ setting. Anything I can do to make it sound at least closer to a traditional PJ? Will changing the config to vol vol tone make a difference or do I have to change bridge pickup that has different character which I don’t mind.

    I'm not sure which of my basses is 'the best' but I tend to take a couple of my JMJ mustangs to gigs as they sound great, are easy & comfy to play, and I probably wouldn't notice if they picked up a ding or two. My Ric 4003 and Gibson non-reverse thunderbird would probably be considered better basses by some, but I'd be gutted to get either one dinged.

    Here is an innovative alternative to a bass wheel, designed and hand made by double bassist Steve Berry (of Loose Tubes fame). More info here at http://www.wheelbass.co.uk/ The substantial 'mudguard' cradle of this has protected my bass well from doorways and other such dangers, but I have recently opted for the lighter and more compact solution of a Bass Buggie. Collection only from London W4.

    It serves notice to anyone thinking of doing the same. It might be a lot harder than you imagined. You need to be careful not to take away plywood in your enthusiasm. The individual plys are very slim. Strip the glue rather than sand it.

    Mk1 boot is tiny. It would be a small 12" cab that would go in. A slimmer 210 might be a better bet and another in a waterproof bag on one of those boot lid racks.

    I really admire your attitude, but I think you have to temper that with having policies in place that protect your business. Asking for a refund and a further £50 compensation is not reasonable. Nor is claiming a fret buzz on the 19th fret makes an instrument "unplayable". You'll never make this buyer happy. If you offer to put things right or offer all the money back, that's perfectly reasonable and you've passed your tests. You shouldn't offer to fix things on a 24hr turnaround though. What if you can't do that? It's entirely possible that he's on this forum and realised that people who know him might see what's happened and realise he's a bit of a tool.

    You like the warm fuzzies without the fuzz. Gain at 3 o'clock shoukd be pushing into the preamp to where it warms and compresses. If you turn up the volume you get loud warm and compressed and lows get more prominent.

    Totally agree with this suggestion here. I've made it four times, and it was super easy. If you're not bothered about the tweeter just get rid of that portion and it becomes even cheaper and easier! There's a video on YouTube which uses the same build technique albeit for a 1x12 cabinet. If you're near me, I have an unloaded cabinet I can give to you to try, although you would need to construct a new tweeterless baffle if that's the direction you'll be going. Ashdown drivers are different to the Basschat 1x10's Celestion Pulse10, but I can't imagine they'd be miles different.

    They should explore a new name to avoid confusion. Gilla Band were formerly called that and released a couple of albums on Rough Trade under that name. Similar genre, too, and the first results in web searches send you to the Gilla lads. It'd be easier for them to do when the profile is lower.

    Barefaced Audio Super Twin 2 x 12 bass guitar amplifier speaker cabinet, with two 12XN drivers , lightly used in a revised 60’s rock band. Arthritis now forces retirement !     If your main mixer has a spare aux out, you can mic everything and send yourself a dedicated sub mix. Those mics don't need to go to the front of house mix. If you don't have a spare AUX and your mixer has inserts there is a way of 'normalling' the output by using a mono jack and not pushing it all the way in (just to the first click) to give a send to another mixer without interrupting the signal path inside the first mixer, and dispensing with the need to have a return.

    I sub in and out for a jazz band and their bass player has an elf also , I used his rig once and for some reason the sound he was getting was much cleaner and warmer than mine , I noticed he had the gain up at 3 O,clock , the bass up well past 2 o clock , and the treble , mids and volume down really low. Just used the volume for more, well volume. I tried this and got the same effect with my own amp. Just a funny setup but gave a great tone .
