I agree. Not great for their rep.

@Greg Edwards69 - I see where you're coming from. I really like the form factor of my GX-100. It isn't too heavy and a good bit smaller than the Helix LT, though I wish it had a kettle lead power connection. Boss have got some features that I really like on it. While it doesn't have snapshots, the current number assignment means that if you press on the already selected patch again, you can switch things around from within it. I've got it configured to change from chorus to verses, or turning on a whole raft of effects reducing the overall number of patches I need. Bring able to do that with scenes would effectively double the number you get. And the heel down tuner on the expression pedal is THE BEST turning on implementation of a tuner I've ever had. I'll fight anyone on that. I've got it set to "thru", so you put the heel down and reverb tails still keep on going, but you've just turned down the volume, so it's muted going forward. Just roll it back up and you're in business. I really don't like having to press two buttons at the same time to change anything too. It's awkward, I'm awkward, I don't find it works well for me. Which is why I like more footswitches in the device. I'm keen to see how the MIDI implementation of the Anagram goes. Looks like they're still a way off changing effects within patches.

Indeed, opinions are just that (including saying my opinion is nonsense!). How are Headless 'certainly not innovative' (noting that opinions are just opinions) Headless to me seems more innovative than just having a fairly standard headstock - it requires different things like new bridges/tuners/headstocks/string clamps/hanging mechanism etc. Balance is more of an issue with light basses, it's not too difficult to stop a bass having neck-dive if the body is heavy...but people don't tend to like heavy basses. I had a Combustion and it was about 4.5kg, I think that weight would be quite a downside to a lot of people - even though it balanced well (I guess it needed to be that heavy at the body partly to balance a 37" scale with a headstock and tuners at the far end). Not all Dingwalls are that heavy, but a lot are whereas something like a Ibanez EHB is about 3.3kg and well balanced. Going headless is an obvious way of being able to make the bass well balanced and light - especially on a bass with 5 strings and a long scale. Strandberg led the way with headless multiscales way back in about 2007, Ibanez released cheaper multiscale headless bass in 2020 to a mass market - they have been popular and other companies like Hils and Sire have since followed....and now Dingwall are doing the same at least about 6 years late to the party, how is that not dropping the ball on it?

Stan’s a fantastic service engineer, one of the best I have worked with. Say hi to him for me.

This is always my priority. You and the drummer are going to be the foundation of the band. Be seen to be aiming to lock in with them. The drummer and the sound man. Your two biggest friends on a stage.

Bought a couple of months ago from BC stalwart @Sibob, this is absurdly cool (hope it's OK to pinch your advert pic, Si?). However, despite being much lighter than your average late 70s P at 8.87 pounds, its unfortunately still not light enough for my damaged back and neck (back story: horse riding accident, 18 cracked ribs front and back in 2023). Carrying it to and from a 2 hour rehearsal last week resulted in significant pain over the next 24 hours and this made the decision for me. So its collect from a public space in Barnes SW13 or delivery at cost. Asking what I paid, £2200, which I think was a fair price. More details and pics in Si's advert below. It's in the same condition and comes with a padded Fender gig bag. https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/514522-1978-precision-olympic-white-maple-lightweight-sold/ Please note: I am away from home for a few days and can only post or meet from Tuesday onwards.

I'm waiting on an update as to any other future releases, but in all honesty I don't see why they would as it would muddy the waters with the Euro series. It make more sense to me to have three distinct ranges and price points.... Far East bolt-on basses, through neck Euro basses and custom shop USA basses.

I feel similar, though it's a big Quad Cortex screen I'd want with the footswitches, rather than an expression. Anagram wouldn't cut it against my QC as is, but a bigger one could pique my interest for sure.

Thanks for pointing this out to me cetera. Do you think they will have an Icon neck through with EMGs next?

Opinions are fine but just that. Many basses are poorly designed and cause the problems you mention but ironically Dingwall have been much better than most when it comes to balance. None of my Dingwalls have any neck dive at all. I don’t like headless instruments and they’re certainly not innovative - just different. To say Dingwall has dropped the ball is nonsense.

That’s the one! 😁 It’s nice, I’ve played the legit one and obviously the snide version and there’s basically no difference to my ear, thing is all it is, is a 4 band EQ with a slight low &,hi boost option that can be operated by footswitch - that’s IT?! Yeh it definitely sounds nice enough but every preamp has its own “special sauce” - ToneHammer has the AGS,’ VT Bass is the Charcter knob, some impart a very particular sound etc. This just has the EQ and that’s it - it’s super transparent and so I guess you get the sound of your instrument and can make some tweaks with what is a very musical Eq but for £300+ it does really do much. This Chinese copy is absolutely fantastic tho - for £50 I was very impressed, if You liked your AG but returned it cos of the price you’ll not be dissapointed with the Clone IMO

Chords? You really need to know chords. This chart for three strings is very old, I did it with a matrix printer and the letters are a bit misleading, but: v = diminished m = minor d = major y = augmented sus4 = 7sus4 It also helps to understand that there are several ways to write chords: minor, min, m, - maj, ^ +5, #5 -5, b5 dim, ° and so on. Play and listen to them on a daily basis.

The new bridge seems like a good thing, and of course if you get the 4003s they don't have sharp edges (neither do the 4004s)
