  2. Sent a bass 2 weeks ago with Evri 48hr, booked through Interparcel (but insured via Securus). The bass was double boxed in 'exactly' the same double walled (x2) boxes that the manufacturer delivered in. It went off no probs via my selection in Interparcel and was delivered FIVE days later. Now that 3 day delay isn't the issue; I was miffed at the service but the buyer received it safe and sound and was over the moon with the bass. Fast forward 2 weeks and I receive an email from Interparcel stating I owed £25 because: "An additional charge has been applied due to non-standard packaging, which required manual handling by the carrier. This includes items that are irregularly shaped, cylindrical (e.g. tubes, carpets), packaged with cling film, bubble wrap, string, or excessive tape, or placed in bags or sacks. These types of packaging do not meet the carrier’s automated processing requirements." At first I thought 'scam' but the address to reply/pay looked right. I contacted Interparcel and they say the claim is brought by Evri against me. I'm obviously going to contest it but it might be worth folk being aware that these are not phishing scams but appear to be Evri chancing their arm for extra fees. Oh and here is the irregular packaging.
  3. The clear-out continues! Two Levy’s Leathers straps, both natural cotton with suede ends. Both barely used. One Fender guitar strap. Never been used. £10 each plus £2.00 postage. Feedback thread here 👇
  4. I've finally decided to sell my beautiful Vigier Passion III as it is sitting forlorn and unplayed and really needs to find a good home where it can be properly appreciated. I bought it new from Bass Direct in 2014 (one of the photos I've attached was the original one from the Bass Direct web site!) and it has never been gigged. It is absolutely mint with no marks or scratches and is as clean as it's possible to be! I has a parametric preamp and the signature neck that Vigier use to avoid the need for a truss rod.) It comes with a custom Vigier hard case. Working perfectly, playing wonderfully, and a pleasure to own. Happy to take payment in person by bank transfer once you've seen it and are happy. Either here at my home in Winchcombe, or I can drive a meet you halfway from wherever you live (within reason!) Photos attached, but if you want to see/hear it being played (someone inexpertly) you can see me playing it here:
  5. Yeah they do get some great ones sometimes, I saw that 1965 Fender Precision Bass the other day, it’s mint for the year beautiful
  6. I I didn’t go back to bare wood on the majority of it. Harley Benton use some sort of poly to seal under the paint so I left as much of that as I could. I went over the whole thing with Rustins grain filler and their sanding sealer. I wasn’t so impressed with the grain filler and would try Nitorlack next time as it doesn’t go on very well even when well thinned. it’s the second time I have tried Rustins and both times it wasn’t great. I’m open to any suggestions from the wise as to a good and easy to apply grain filler?
  7. If nobody turns up, how will they know if you're there or not?!
  8. You might be better off with Grindr then.
  9. Look forward to seeing whatever you go with!
  10. I’ve always sung backing and some lead. I think the secret is not try and play too complicated a bass line. Sting was a good example. With time it becomes more natural and your bass lines will become more technical.

    Sean's Feedback

Just bought Sean's Ibanez ATK. All went very smoothly, a decent chap with an excellent name. Cheers from Sean...
  12. This dealer pops up on my FB. They have a gorgeous mint OW p bass just in stock. Some nice gear, although the highest pricing. https://www.guitarbroker.com/product-category/bass-guitars/?fbclid=IwQ0xDSwL13e1leHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHkpxgd69CVPoqD0Xlc5W_tuONjkMqIPAQ3VjzdihC7OhQiP5AR25oxzQ4lH2_aem_auajZQqWdeqJA2QvLhmKzA
  13. 2010 US Stingray, 2EQ, CAR with rosewood board. One of the limited edition 133 basses, full fat ‘ray but with a soft gig bag case instead of a hard shell job. This is in excellent condition with one very minor ding on the top edge, and the pickguard is quite marked but obviously easily replaceable. Comes with a Hipshot D-tuner (long key though instead of short… doh), if you want the original tuner key I’ll chuck it in. I’ve also replaced the pickup with a Nordstrand MM4.2, which sounds flippin’ great. She’s quite heavy (10lb) but with a decent wide strap it feels ok. Loathe to post this but can at buyer’s (insured) expense, or can meet in person at either Portsmouth, Southsea, Southampton or Lymington (I’m on the I.O.W.)

  14. @Woodinblack there is only one thing to say to you from all the way over here and that is <singing> Coates comes up from Somerset where the Cider apples grow!
  15. Same here, mine is always on my board, such a great pedal, pretty rare to see one for sale these days, somebody needs to grab a bargain!
  16. There's the American Performer P bass in the current lineup.
  17. I'd take the spec on these websites with a large pinch of salt. They are usually incorrect, especially at this price range.
  18. OK, as they are silly cheap, I ordered three sets, including one for my brother who wants to try flats. First impression - packaged in an attractive, nicely finished proper box, not an envelope. In individual sealed plastic envelopes with very clear numbering. Other brands could do this, it feels premium compared to most brands. Colour coded ball ends, though not as nicely finished as Fender ball ends. Red silk wraps. Feel surprisingly slinky. Lighter gauge than the Fender flats I took off, so hard to make a really fair comparison. The HB strings are marked as 45-100 and measured as 44-99. The Fenders 55-105 measure as 56-104, both sets are stainless steel. Very clear the wrap pitch is much narrower on the Harley Benton strings, which should make them slinkier for a given diameter. Bent over the ends before cutting and no problems with the wrap slipping (presumably helped by the hex core. They also feel smoother than the Fenders, appear to be closer wound. Sounded much brighter/richer than the fenders, with tension much lower than I'd expect from the diameter difference. I had to slack off the truss rod by at least half a turn. Lower tension feels much better. I suspect a lot of this is the 45-100. So if they bear up and keep some of their richness, these are a much better score than the Fender flats for me. Obviously comparing with Fender 45-100 would be fairer, but at less than 1/3 the cost these are a great deal. I will try their rounds as well.
  19. Agree with singing..smile
  20. Today
  21. the bass was easily the best thing about it ...that's my diplomatic answer ..oh and .the singing is dreadful.
  22. Wow! Lots of comments, and some great ideas for the colour. I have been looking at the EB catalogue and I do like the look of what I think they call HD yellow? With the black plate and black hardware, it looks pretty cool… plus a solid colour will be cheaper! although I wonder what that would look like with a metallic finish?? I’m going to strip it first and see what the grain looks like and go from there… I will upload some pics of how it transforms, although won’t be for a little while as I need it for a few gigs first…
  23. I've never had this problem. However I've always turned up with my own DI boxes already in the appropriate (for me) part of the signal chain. I think most of the time the SE is relieved that they won't need to unplug one of the few DI boxes they are already using for something else that they never question what sort of signal they will be getting from me. Also because I'm playing Bass VI and producing both "guitar" and "bass" sounds if it looks like there's a possibility of being EQ'd into mush I start by giving them a "guitar" sound and once I'm happy with that I'll switch to a "bass" patch play a couple of bars and declare that it sounds great and would they like to move on to our backing track? That seems to work. Because I've already set the EQ for the different sounds I use on the Helix getting a good "guitar" sound means that I'll automatically get the "bass" sound I want.
