For sale is this beautiful Rickenbacker 4001 from 1980, finished in the somewhat scarce Autumnglo. It's all original. The bass is in very good condition. It has a few small damages on the headstock, otherwise it's very clean for it's age. The neck is straight and allows low action without any problem. The frets are still good too. Soundwise it has the terrific Rickenbacker sounds of course. There are roundwound strings mounted currently, but a nice set of flats can be awesome as well. I bought this bass recently to try a Ricky again (couldn't resist as Autumnglo is my favorite finish for a Ric), but I just can't feel at home on them. €3500 I am located in the Netherlands, but happy to ship at buyers risk. No trades at the moment please.

Thank you, I have narrowed the width and reduced the size of the horns. It also has a 12.7 radius round over around the body so very curvy. I’m wondering whether to keep it quite grainy and not sanding to such a high grit as I would usually. It really is very lightweight and I’m thinking that a 34” scale neck might be too much on it

Couldn't you just put the chrome (or whatever) control plate on and leave the reast of the scratchplate off, making the most of the fact that the pickup lead channels are drilled and not routed?

I wouldn't be without mine. And that's a Broadneck 5 bolt-on with 20mm bridge string spacing. I don't see the ergonomics as drawbacks,just different.

That’s the cheap one I use and it’s been fine. What are the MIDI settings you’re using? Do you have any other MIDI-usb devices connnected? Windows only allows one active at a time. If you have something else open, the editor won’t connect.

I've got a 4HH Bongo and it's a beast of a bass. It's got a unique character that I love, and a lot of folks who criticise the looks have never seen on in the flesh. I think it's a beautiful design, and I have done since the first time I saw one at NAAM. I like basses that sound obtrusive, and the Bongo certainly fulfils that brief. It's such a great sound, especially for modern music that's sonically very dense because it cuts through so well. The dual frequency mid controls are really useful in that respect. It's also got massive bottom end that can compete with guitars, synths and electronic drums. I think the problem for EBMM with the Bongo has been that it has an unapologetically modern sound and design in an era that is preoccupied with retro and vintage-inspired gear. If that bass had come out in the mid-1980's when modernity was all the rage then they would have sold loads of them. It's a design that's ahead of its time but behind the trend, if that makes sense.
