  1. Past hour
  2. I'm lucky to have one of these..... absolutely brilliant cab....can't see me ever changing it.....and this is a really generous price.
  3. When i use my index finger as a pick i find the rhythmic feel with my wrist is definitely more of a groove than when using fingerstyle but i just can't translate that feel when using a pick. Maybe that's just down to practice as i started using my index finger more as a fun element when doodling in the house but i enjoyed it so much i found myself doing it a lot. Obviously the increasing use of a flexi-wrist can be helpful in other aspects of life. 😂 Dave
  4. Hi. I’m Pricing this down for someone with the technical ability to straighten this neck which has a little back bow. Otherwise this 2007 Old Violin Sunburst Yamaha is in excellent condition with just one shallow scratch on the front near the top horn ( see close up photo ). Weight is 4.28kg , 9lbs 7oz so a great weight for a Fiver. Alder body. Serial Number QNL313079 so made in May 2007. Brand new set of D’Addario nickel roundwounds on it, 125 100 80 65 45. I got ahead of myself and have taken delivery of a superb earlpilanz ( Ebay ) vintage cream pick guard , shown but not fitted , no screw holes. If you would like this please ADD £25 to the price ( £37.50 I paid ). The bass is as clean and tidy as it looks, the fret board is oiled and frets are polished. ** Just the slight neck back bow to straighten.** I bought this in April , all standard parts, and have played it fine apart from the back bow meaning the strings have to be a minimum of B 2.6mm, E 2.5mm , A 2.5mm, D 2.4 , G 2.2mm above 12th fret with strings held down at 1st fret. This is with the truss rod fully loosened. I need an action 5mm lower but that’s not possible unless the neck gets straightened. Any lower and I get fret buzz on higher notes than 12th fret, not that I’m up there much! So this is useable but I took it to Steve Barratt at guitarlodge.co.uk and he recommended his heat treatment method to sort the neck. I decided to drop out at that point as one of you guys can do that for Free ! I also have a BB614 in Old Violin Sunburst so I might as well lose some money on this and look for a different finish BB615. Thanks for looking 🤓. Cheers. Quent I’ll double box this. No gigbag.
  5. Yes please. I will take it.
  6. In the words of the great Richard Richard (Bottom) "British journalism, best in the world. You wouldn't see that in a French of Italian paper"
  7. One of the hardest things about creating interesting walking bass lines, is if you have to do this on one chord. This does happens in Jazz and Blues progressions, and if you don't have a few concepts to fall back on, you're probably going to find that your walking lines sound boring and repetitive. In this week's video lesson, I analyse Chas Chandler's bass line from the Animals version of 'Bury My Body', as he walks over one chord for whole sections of the song. It's also a cool tune to look at, containing Chas' signature walking style. You’ll find a link under the video to my free note-for-note transcription of Chas’ bass line in standard notation and tab. Enjoy!
  8. Hi, Do you still have It? Cheers

  11. Beauty… If i just didn’t help myself to UV70 fiver (Japan) about 3 weeks ago.. 😁
  12. I'm prioritising gigging my AVII Precision, my most expensive purchase, but it stubbornly refuses to do acquire wear or battle scars... I used to use my Performer for every gig in the 90s. For some reason I'm reluctant to use it of late. Must get it out there soon. Edit: I don't deliberately abuse my basses. My choice for gigs is always led by what playing experience I want and what sound I feel like having. On the original question, if you have great looking, easy playing and excellent sounding instrument, it seems churlish never to let a band and audience benefit from it. One could argue you should always use your best bass... but I'd say use the one(s) likely to bring out your best on the night.
  13. My speedometer goes to 260 KPH, and as it's a BMW it can reach that. That doesn't mean I have to drive that fast. 130 KPH is quite sufficient. Just because you have a 500w amp doesn't mean you'll ever use that much power. If you were to measure it you'd find that you seldom go over 50w. That's a good thing, as the majority of speakers will only handle at best half their thermal rating before exceeding their mechanical limit. As for peak ratings those are marketing piffle only worthy of being ignored.
  14. VT bass DI preamp pedal , XLR out, great for recording , only a few months old boxed as new , home use only. Check my feedback on BC . £200 posted.
  15. She was ace. Still annoyed with the bassist for not keeping to Flea’s line in “You oughta know.”
  16. I'd definitely buy this if I hadn't bought the lovely Bryant from @bassace six months ago!
  17. Yes and no thanks sorry it’s cheap enough. Cheers.
  18. Yamaha DXR 8 Active Speaker This unit has been used as a keyboard monitor and comes with brand new Yamaha outdoor semi waterproof cover and mains lead. It is in good condition although it has lost its control knob caps. Everything works as it ought to. It is in very good cosmetic condition It’s very powerful for an 8” active cab. Great little multi purpose speaker. The original woofer has been replaced with a recommended Fane equivalent. Power Output: Dynamic: 1100W (LF: 950W HF: 150W) / Continuous: 700W (LF: 600W HF: 100W) Frequency Range: 57Hz - 20kHz Inputs: XLR-3-31 x1 , INPUT2: Phone x2, INPUT3: RCA PIN x 2, THRU: XLR3-32 x 1 (Parallel with INPUT 1 ), LINK OUT: XLR x 1 Pole Mounts: 2 options - 1 straight and 1 angular socket for mounting at downward angles Dimensions: 280mm (11") x 458mm (18") x 280mm (11") Weight: 13.5kg (29.8lbs) Pickup preferred but I can post at buyer’s cost. It is very well built and the packed weight will reflect this so I envisage it will be around £20 to post it. UK only. Priced to reflect the replacement driver and lack of control caps.
  19. That's works with me, I'll send you a PM with the details.
  20. I haven't watched the English Teacher set but if the consensus from people who have seen it is anything to go by, I think it'll be the first thing I put on when I'm back home later today. Also going to try and find the Fratellis and Ash sets from yesterday if I can. Very much looking forward to watching Maccabees tomorrow night too.
  21. I've had 2 or 3 of these over the years, then genuinely are very good basses, even at the price point they were when they were new. Looking forward to giving this one a blast in a day or two!
