Yes, my conclusion was pretty much the same Terry. When I visited the Store I'd hoped to have tried several different models including the (what was then) new model Broad Bass plus the TRBX. Typically they had next to nothing available. The TRBX604 EQ wasn't bad but, like you, it felt quite toy-like and didn't over inspire me. On the train back to Cornwall I kept telling myself I'd get to love it when I plug it in. But I didn't 🙁 The TRB5 looks a different animal ? I think I'll short list it. Thanks again, Terry 🤗

I loved the tone on all along the watchtower in rattle and hum. I didn’t know it was a p bass, it just sounded heavy and preponderous at the beginning and then I listened to how it sounded under the chords, driving it all along.

I'm very interested, but my ABZ would be the only thing that can pay for it currently - so probably won't. I am moderately confident the preproduction one at NAMM will be at the UK Guitar show at the end of Feb though. GuitarGuitar said May delivery, but I have little faith in this. I would guess July.

Before I even developed an interest in Bass, I loved JJ Burnel‘s sound. He wasn’t particularly an influence, I just loved that sound!

Being London-based I was in Yamaha Music on Wardour Street two Sundays back and tried...a TRBX605FM. It did nothing for me,felt ever so flimsily built. I would pick either of the Japanese TRB5 (MK1 vs MK2) models however. They look and feel different but I like them equally. In fact visually the slap-cut contour on the MK1 isn't to my taste so maybe not so equal after all...

What tone inspired you to play bass? I mean not necessarily a particular player or band but a specific album or track even. Mine was Sade’s Stronger than Pride album. Paul Denman’s tone in Keep Lookind, I thought to myself, wow I’ve got to get me some of that

I'm happy with my Lekato WS-90 and the M-Vave clone of it. Thinking of picking up another WS-50 as my old one has micro USB charging which became a little temperamental, and they've gone to USB-C.
