  1. Past hour
  2. I've had several PMs asking me to post this. I'm sorry, but I have no suitable carton/box. It's a quality, US built cab in very good condition for a very good price and I don't want the hassle of sorting out a box, arranging postage, worrying about whether it will arrive in one piece, etc. If it doesn't sell, it won't be the end of the world. Thanks for your understanding.
  3. I'm sure a lot of you have followed the progress of our very own @Silky999's Build Diary of the 'Nitro Cellulose Experiment' Jazz Bass. Well, while on my travels for a theatre gig in Torquay yesterday, I visited Silky999 and picked this up. With so many conversations these days of basses being prohibitively expensive, this is perhaps a different route to a really nice instrument. Now complete, this nitro finish bass is a lot more than the sum of it's parts. The Nitro finish really lets the bass speak and it really does have a voice of it's own. I'd personally rate it much higher playing-wise than a Mexican Fender, and sound wise, it'd give my American Original a run for it's money. Don't expect these to be around the £300 (cost of parts) mark for long!
  4. The only thing cheap basses don't always do well is pickups. Cheap pickups will make any bass sound less than perfect.
  5. With advent of CNC machines quality of cheap basses has gone through the roof. The QC that Asian manufacturers achieve is down to the contract and how much the brand owner cares about quality.
  6. Soundcraft Signature 10 mixer for sale, excellent condition, all features and signal paths working Until recently my recording interface with my PC - via the USB connection which gives 2-Track capability. Loads of useful features: Six mic inputs with switched phantom power High pass filters Limiters on Channels 1 & 2 HiZ inputs for instruments on Channels 3 & 4 Three band equalisation with swept mid band Channels 5/6 and 7/8 can be used as stereo inputs or returns Channels 9/10 act as return from the PC when using it as a recorder Built-in Lexicon effects Two Aux sends, switchable pre/post fader as well as the FX send buss etc. etc. All in all a high level of functionality with a very user-friendly interface Pickup from Uxbridge area, or I will post at cost.
  7. I might mention that this is a very good travel bass: full scale, and still so tiny.
  8. Show me a Fender that looks better. On second thought, don't bother...even their custom shop basses aren't quite as nice.
  9. The chap next Hendrix ..shaggy( scooby doo)? As for ‘Freddie ‘ he looks more like a waiter imho 🙂
  10. I didn't examine it too closely, but it seemed to be good... the neck and fretboard work was definitely spot on.
  11. @Chienmortbb @Pow_22 Thanks for the information. With all the talk of valve tone and the thump of class A/B power amps and the heft - there, I said it 😱 - that you get from old school amp designs like this, coupled with what I think is pretty much a give away price, I'm surprised this is still hanging around. Someone somewhere mentioned that this series of amps wasn't particularly desirable but given that they doesn't suffer from the wooly sound some folks complain of with Ashdown amps I think they're an underrated gem. But as I gig almost exclusively on IEMs these days and have a light weight amp and cab for the occasional dep gig with backline, this is sadly in the way and needs to go to a new loving home.
  12. Cheers Alex.... 👍
  13. Im waiting for @walshy to have a look at his, the super dude that he is
  14. My home speaker is the HS7 as well. I use an HX Stomp. It’s great. I’ve got a bunch of patches for different genres and it’s great for guitar too.
  15. I don’t think that there is any doubt that Indonesian or Chinese or Korean manufacturers can make instruments, cars or fairly soon aeroplanes or spacecraft as well as the Americans. Hence the current tariffs and other short term noise. Edit: There will obviously be some flexibility to this point in terms of budget. At the very bottom end corners will be cut wherever something is made and over time things will balance out. Wages, property prices etc will increase in the Far East as these countries continue to become more affluent.
  16. Hey bud, congrats on the journey of learning a instrument. I started with an inexpensive squier p bass. As when I was younger and broke my left wrist (fretting hand) I took my bass to get professionally setup at the bass gallery in London. My combo I think was a stagg. When I decided I wanted to commit more due to feeling improvement I was asking myself the exact same question. I went down the bass upgrade route but in all honesty I should have got a better amp/cab or combo. I say this as my old bass sounds great with my genzler Magellan combo. The crappy combo had probably been over pushed and exhausted the speakers. A proper setup makes a world of difference on how the bass plays and sounds. I would suggest either learn to setup your bass (it’s not hard at all) or go and get it setup. You can pick up a decent combo, cab & amp for such great prices on here. The used market is your friend. Also a change of string makes a drastic difference also.
  17. Yes, it’ll be a quality bass and usually used Sandberg prices favour the buyer - give it time !??!!
  18. Agree, but the continuing argument is whether you can also get a better-made, better QC fender-a-like for less. Eg Sire
  19. It has a charm. It’s not a patch on the original…but I watch it about once a year

  22. The new price of my Fender Precision in 1969 was £120. That's nearly £1700 today. Within 3 years I'd replaced the nut (broken) and frets (worn down). I'm not sure prices are that bad these days. My guess is you get a better made bass, at all price points, than I did.
  23. Auction is here chaps! Still time to bid Be interesting to see what it goes for with 2 days left. 25. Ive bene using a set of Lekato WS90’s for a while now. single is clear and ive never had any dropouts. A week or so ago i brought an Ampeg SGT-DI. I noticed that when the preamp was not engaged, but the IR was on, i was getting a lot of horrible noise. This was when using the WS90. My Xvive and cables were fine with it. I send it back. This week i got a EBS Microbass 3, and although i have no issues with it, i get a loud hum if i put my hand near, or worse, on, the WS90 when its off but plugged in to the EBS. When the WS90 is on it’s fine. It’s like when you have a cable thats not attached to anything at the other end. Cant figure out why this happens when it’s off and im close to it. Poor shielding is the only thing that comes to mind.
  26. Agreed. Quantitive Easing has a lot to answer for.
