If you haven’t seen it in ‘build diaries’ I’m about to turn this modified Musicmaster into a lovely fretless. -

I’ve tried to find something for the same reasons as you, but so far haven’t had any luck. So, “subscribed”, as they say..!

I suggest fretting slightly behind the frets not on them, and trying to lift your fingers off more swiftly and cleanly. The slow release right over the fret is the cause and I can duplicate it here. It's easy to address fretting position, a little further behind the fret will do. Learning a clean release will take a little more effort. A good exercise is to play a series of staccato notes, not too fast, lifting your fretting finger between them but leaving it very gently in contact so it mutes the string. Keep practicing until you can get a series of clearly defined and separate notes. This will help you learn a clean, fast release and also start to develop the prized skill of muting. Good luck!

If anyone was thinking of fitting a Hipshot Xtender onto their Sandberg Lionel you need a BT7 which is the closest match as advised by Sandberg Only slight drawbacks are the ferrule hole needs enlarging very slightly and you need to drill 4 small holes. Other than that easy fit and works great!! -
It’s only £500 if you are buying 2 of the DP3x pedals - chorus was an optional extra! If you are nearly all the way there, then its all gravy, you can get a chorus effect by tuning the octave strings slightly off from whatever you tune your fundamental to

Looks very cool, not tried this but have owned and used several ashdowns and only has positive experiences. Treat. Yo. Self.

ACG SLG 5 32" Scale up for grabs. This is a really interesting bass with a fantastic spec, John East preamp with passive tone control, ACG single coil pickups, acrylic impregnated maple fretboard, 3 piece maple neck, quilted maple top, black limba body, reverse headstock, Gotoh tuners, hipshot bridge. It plays and sounds great, I'm just not comfortable gigging a 5 string. Comes with a TGI Flightcase. Collection from Margate or I can box it up if you'd like to arrange your own courier. Here's a video of it in action Note the control cover still has the plastic on it.

Sadly I'm not sure I can justify £500+ for that pedal when I own gear that does 90% of what it does... if I can get the other 10% for £150.
-
As it's not obvious on the video, where are you fretting your notes? There seems to be the "issue".

@Chienmortbb @Pow_22 Thanks for the information. With all the talk of valve tone and the thump of class A/B power amps and the heft - there, I said it 😱 - that you get from old school amp designs like this, coupled with what I think is pretty much a give away price, I'm surprised this is still hanging around. Someone somewhere mentioned that this series of amps wasn't particularly desirable but given that they doesn't suffer from the wooly sound some folks complain of with Ashdown amps I think they're an underrated gem. But as I gig almost exclusively on IEMs these days and have a light weight amp and cab for the occasional dep gig with backline, this is sadly in the way and needs to go to a new loving home.

Why were older basslines so much more interesting?

It sounds very plausible to me. -

That's a great idea. I already have some of that. Dave

Yeah, it was fun. My Roscoe at the time was a natural finish, so Mark at Bass Direct loaned the Candy Apple Red one he had in stock so it looked bling in the video. Im going to dig into old hard drives next week to see if any of the old vids are out there!
