  3. Thank you, Eddie. I’m planning a trip to T&G Martin’s shop soon. I’d love to stop by to see your bass when I do. I’ll be I touch. Thanks Again, Rick
  4. Whereabouts in Warwickshire ?
  5. Hi guys. Forgot about basschat for a fair time and just got an email so I’m back! I’m only using 4 strings now, so this bass is living in its case not being used. It’s the “hysteria” bass (eg the one Chris uses during hysteria live) - the blue tinted woven chrome model with white LEDs. I used it for some recording and a few practices, but not that many. So still in glorious condition. Was on eBay, but just getting chancers or scammers. So it got pulled (when I got back the US). Currently strung with brand new Status Hotwires. The CW-2 is a proper good bass. I still have one CW-2 (one that has been built for Chris himself before being removed from artist stock!) and a CW-1 and both are absolutely superb. I do hope that Status do start taking orders again, but right now they obviously aren’t. I’m in Aberdeen. Happy to ship, or I could potentially meet somewhere near Glasgow area (persuade the wife to go for a jonty down the road).

  6. Hey folks. i bought this back in February or March just because of my mild obsession with RATM and Timmy C. However, I’ve too many basses at home and in all honestly I don't do enough music stuff to warrant a myriad of basses throughout my house. So this got purchased and has lived in its case with the exception of 30 mins where I tested it out. Pretty much brand spanking new. The EBMM tag is still on the headstock. it’s limited edition worldwide (50 in each colour). This is the passive quentin blue version. it’s a brilliant bass but as I said, I don’t do enough to warrant keeping something like this. based in Aberdeen, can probs meet etc nearer Glasgow area. Or shipping. Though might need to find a box depending if the Status goes quick ha. Ta.

  7. Tbh, I recorded with a pick just because it fitted better in our mix. Tried in practice and sounded alright.. but that was with the Status. But tried it with the jazz and it fitted crazy well. I still feel much more comfortable with my fingers though!
  8. The original Mark Hoppus signature basses were Jazz body/Precision-profile neck.
  9. It's always a buzz when people come because of your reputation.
  10. Chinese Fakers are bottom-end stuff, they won't be fitting a branded pickup set with an RRP higher than the bass itself! However modern Fakers have come factory-fitted with SDs - the Shine copies (made in Korea by Saein) which appeared in the early/mid '00s had them. As well as that they seemed to debut the classic 'design' of the modern Chickenbacker bridge, the tinny bridge pickup surround & a heel the size & shape of a housebrick. I'd speculate that's what @geofio had - Saein is an OEM manufacturer so it's entirely probable they made the Anniversary brand. However I don't think that's what Bruce F's so-called old bass is (it's absolutely 100% not MIJ!), and those pickups are 100% not SDs. That first generation of 00s Fakers included Rockinbetters & briefly, the Bass Centre's own take (was it called a California or something?), these were Korean-made & a cut above Temu Chickenbackers & that's what this looks likr to me. So maybe this is Bruce's old bass, but only 20-odd years old rather than 50.

  16. Last year we lost an institution in our local blues scene , Barry Cook. Piano player , had been dealing with various health issues , the doctors had described his heart as a time bomb , and home after a great gig , it gave out. We did a memorial gig for him Friday night in the old blues dive downtown. The core band was mostly bandmates , unfortunately a featured guitar player was unable to attend because of previous commitment , a replacement was quickly secured. There were a good number of people that played with Barry in various projects that were up to play and sing. The night went quickly. Nice appreciative crowd. Great playing. Wonderful to see some great singers and players. Everything unfolded as we had hoped , I hope we’ll do it again next year. Nice to feel the sense of community.
  17. It sounds like you haven't been sacked from your band, in reality it sounds like the guitarist they auditioned, recruited them for his own Rock/Blues band. it sounds like the drummer, singer and new guitarist, have formed a totally different band, in a different genre, with different members and (I assume) with a different band name. A band that you wouldn't want to be in, even if they had asked you. If I were you, that's how I would look at the situation.
  18. Best Combo I’ve ever played through - in my humble opinion of course. Lightweight, tiny footprint & plenty of volume for pub / small club Gigs - add an 8 ohm extension cab & it goes very loud + excellent tonal variation. 150w RMS at 8ohm / 300w at 4 ohms Removable Amp - see video + the cabinet can be used as a stand alone speaker cab. Mid scoop - smiley face sound via the dummy Jack - provided or foot switch - not provided. Only used at home so in mint condition + Hot Covers padded cover included, also in mint condition. Can post to the U.K. Mainland for around £20.00 What MarkBass say…….. The Minimark 802 N300 Combo features the new NANO MARK II head, which offers a myriad of tone shaping options on the go with its complete and effective 4 band EQ controls. Plus, thanks to the included input jack insert (or an optional single footswitch) connected to the dedicated FSW input you can easily have fast access to a scooped-mid EQ setting to get a tight tone for slap or pick bass. And as highly requested, the head is REMOVABLE! Not only can you use the head separately, you can use the combo's 2x8" cabinet standalone matched with a different head, or as an extension of another combo, or even together with another 8 ohm cabinet. The two 8" custom woofers and an onboard piezo tweeter give an incredible warm and focused sound - making this combo a brilliant choice for electric bass and also ideal for double bass as well as acoustic bass through its faithful reproduction of acoustic instruments! Removable head amp The practical design of the Minimark 802 N300 allows musicians to easily remove the ultracompact NANO MARK II amp head and use it separately. This is one of the most requested features from combo users. Of course it is also possible to use also the 2x8" cabinet standalone, matched with another amp, as extension of a combo, or with another 8 ohm cabinet. > Complete and effective controls The separate Gain and Master controls allow you to optimize the input level setting and the master volume as needed, and thanks to the simple and effective 4-band EQ controls you can get a clear, loud, defined EQ resulting in an authentic reproduction of your bass guitar's sound. Scooped-mid EQ ideal for slap and pick bass tones are available using the included input jack insert or an optional single footswitch connected to the dedicated FSW input, to have access to the two EQ tones while playing. > Power-to-weight ratio / ultra-portable amp The Minimark 802 N300 weighing only 28 lbs / 12.7 kg and has an unbelievable power-to-weight ratio and the rich and warm tones unique to Markbass. It cranks out 150W of power on its own (300W when used with an extension cab) and its full range - with plenty of bottom end - is unrivalled. > Wide frequency response Despite its small size, the two 8" speakers efficiently reproduces a wide range of frequencies, even with five and six strings basses. > Also ideal for double bass and acoustic bass The sound of acoustic instruments like double bass and acoustic bass is faithfully reproduced by the 2x8” woofers. > Bi-band limiter Our new bi-band limiter responds faster and more dynamically to your playing than traditional limiters do and lets your high end "breathe" for a more natural sound. It makes our amp heads the best choice for anyone who enjoys a quick, punchy attack at high volumes. > MPT - MARK PROPRIETARY TECHNOLOGY Many other bass amps on the market use power amps that are not specifically designed for bass. At Markbass, Marco De Virgiliis invested heavily in R&D to develop a proprietary power amp technology in house. When compared against the competition, all Markbass amps feel unique, with a more defined sound and more power. Our MPTpower amp was built from the ground up to respect and elevate the inherent tone of your instrument. 21. One of my mates did similar thing with Games Without Frontiers. His band are called Anchorage Alaska. Worth a look if a Gabriel fan. Dave
  22. The standard Ibanez gauge seems to be D’Addario light/medium :45-105. I’m pretty sure that was what was on my Mezzo. I thought it worked better (more balanced) with standard D’Addario light: 45-100, flats, which are available in medium scale length. The flats give slightly more tension and are still quite bright. However, I have the nickel round wound D’Addario 45-100 equivalents on a medium scale Maruszczyk Elwood and they work just fine on that, without being too floppy, provided you are not tuning down.
