  1. Past hour
  2. Hello mate, I'll take it! I'll send you a PM. Cheers, James
  3. My vid is still on there too. 6 years ago... I too sold mine eventually as I went to 5ers for a band at the time. Damn if it wouldn't just be perfect for what I'm doing now 🤦
  4. The No1 rule when starting out is to get a bigger board than you need. You're inevitably going to add to your pedal collection, and it's a real PITA to strip down your old board, and set up a new one, for the sake of a few extra inches. Also, having a little extra space around each pedal makes them easier to connect, and swap out if need be. Having a super-tight board, crammed to the max with just the right tools for the job, only comes with years of experience.
  5. Par for the course these days, especially with compact/class D stuff. LD Systems offer 1U power amps. Their PA speakers get good reviews and I've been impressed by those I've heard (I auditioned a couple of their stick and sub models when I was looking for my PA a few years back). Lab Gruppen are definitely worth checking out, too, but they ain't cheap. If you want shallow rack depth, power outputs are likely to be lower. Quart from a pint pot, etc.
  6. Thanks! I’m tempted to replace the 4 inline tuners first to see if that fixes the problem
  7. Following on from Thursday night's open mic, Mein Host had asked me if I'd like to play bass for his duo at a local pub, the Market Vaults, on Friday (last night). I said yes, and a set list arrived on Friday lunchtime. A few of the songs I knew, most of them I'd at least heard a few times before, and one or two I wasn't at all familiar with, so spent a while copying chord sheets from Ultimate Guitar and having a quick play through some of the songs. Headed into town on the evening and all the car parks were rammed - managed to park a few minutes walk away. Fortunately I was only carrying the 6" cab, TC BAM200 amp, gigbag, and Sei headless fretless, so I coped. The Market Vaults is a long thin pub, and we were at the back. Immediately to the right of the stovepipe PA is the passageway to the toilets, so the photo shows the entire available performance area - I sit to play, so I was sitting on the bench on the left with my amp just by me and the monitor right behind me, and just enough space between tables to put my tablet stand in. The gig itself went well. A couple of fluffs (not all by me) and I hadn't got the chords written down right for Crazy, plus for some reason I hadn't got the final draft of my chordsheets on the tablet so I had to remember a couple of the songs. And afterwards I was asked if I'd like to do more gigs with them (I said yes).
  8. Up for sale is this passive Sterling by Music Man Pete Wentz signature StingRay bass in a very eye catching Fiesta Red finish. I had a change of heart and withdrew my 40th anniversary Squier Jazz ad recently, so have put this up for sale as although I love it, it's the bass getting used least with my band and I've recently bought another bass. This is a very cool, passive StingRay in fantastic condition (small scratch on the back of the headstock pictured in the only sign of wear), with one of my favourite necks I've ever had on any bass. Roasted maple, stays straight throughout all seasons and feels great in the hand for those who like a chunkier bass neck. This also comes fitted with Dunlop Straploks and crucially; high quality Schaller BM tuners to replace the stock tuners which were to be blunt, utter garbage. As a passive bass with a single humbucker with just volume and tone controls it's a different vibe from a regular active StingRay, sounds great as a passive bass and it's a snarling rock beast with a fat sounding passive humbucker that you can also get a lot of mellower tones out of. Also comes with a good quality Ritter gig bag; has a broken handle (as pictured) but all other straps and handles are in good working order. I would much prefer collection in person or half-way meet if you're reasonably close to Brighton in the South East. However, I do have a sturdy cardboard box to send this in so could look into sending at an additional cost to the buyer, and at their own risk (as it's not in a hard case so can't be insured by courier services). Please see my feedback for assurance of past honest dealings on the forum: Any questions, send me a message. Thanks.

  10. It used to be the case that you had plug in the interface before opening the editor. However we updated it so that the ports get scanned whenever you open the MIDI preferences menu. Glad you’re enjoying the pedal.
  11. Great purchase from Martin... and fast delivery. Cheers! Recommended 👍
  12. I've been having a fair few of late, no headaches (for me), but they really leave me feeling meh in a sort of unspecified way.
  13. That's it in a nutshell. Quite pleasant but nothing new.

  15. Thanks so much for your kind comments, HeadlessBassist! It was a fun time, indeed!😃
  16. It's not just the postage you're paying for, though. It's the expertise of the person putting the pickups in the envelope. And then there's insurance, of course.
  17. Today
  18. Wednesday night: another night of accompanying a couple of people, and doing two songs myself, while the guitarist who owns a bass insisted on crashing everybody else's sets with out of time and tune accompaniment. He's a very nice chap but utterly incapable of playing bass (which he has been trying to do for 15 years at this open mic) so I think my time there has come to an end as it's frustrating and musically painful. Thursday night: different kettle of fish. Due to there being no other bassist there, I'm house bassist. Normally Mrs Zero comes along and we had planned to do three songs with Mein Host and one of the drummers (there's always between one and three drummers there), but she'd had an ocular migraine and wasn't feeling well. As it turned out, a duo that I was backing were doing "One way or another" (one of the planned songs) so Mein Host also got recruited, along with one of the ladies who knew the song, and we did that and "Sex on fire" (another planned song). And at the end of the evening, Mein Host said that the following night he would be playing in a duo at a local Tamworth pub, and would I like to come along and play too? I said yes - the story will continue on the "How was your gig last night?" thread.
  19. Done a bit more fiddling, it seems if from a restart I open the editor first, then plug in the midi adapter, then the FI it seems happy. Fingers crossed it keeps working! Done some more playing (as in actual bass playing) and it really does work and sound great.
  20. I’ve only ever had a go on one single cut,and that was a Bernie Goodfellow Merlin when I was down his shop (great place, proper old school, nestled away) . While I’m not really a fan of SC basses his one blew me away how comfortable and ergonomically perfect it seemed to fit me! He ain’t too shabby at making basses that bloke! It was reasonably lightweight too I seem to recall. Definitely got me lusting, a lovely lovely bass indeed . 😊
  21. These days unless your band is pretty well known and has record label or management financial backing, most "tours" are a series of weekend gigs spread out over a month or so. I did two conventional tour with The Terrortones organised by someone who wanted to be our manager. The weekend gigs were fine although we could have probably organised them all ourselves and got the same result. The mid-week gigs not so good. One of the tours was supporting a German Rockabilly band who despite being excellent were completely unknown in the UK. Apart from the last gig on a Saturday night where The Meteors also played and which was packed, the only people in the audience for the other gigs had come specifically to see us. For the other tour, we were supposed to have a decent local band in a compatible genre as support for each gig, however the support bands were either non-existent or had zero following which pretty much defeated the object of having them. Needless to say we told the organiser of the tours that we didn't required his management services. Also it was hardly a Rock 'n' Roll lifestyle. We drove home each night after playing apart from one weekend where we had three gigs in South Wales and stayed at Mr Venom's parents house.
  22. Yesterday on the balcony before we went out we had: - Kick The Kangaroo poppy tunes from an album I found on eMusic years ago then some Electric Boys. Later on after wifey got quickly bored at the Neon party and we went back to the room I sat on the balcony, watched the stars and listened to Lifesigns - Altitude on headphones with a nightcap. I rather think that people walking past thought I’d been banished for forgetting to get a card or some such 🤣
  23. This is a great video and a nostalgic jaunt into our collective past (for those of us who were teenagers in the 80s!) - I was chatting with Chris on the Brooksy's Bass Corner Live Chat a few weeks ago, and he's certainly a mind of information on bass world, having previously run the Bass Centre LA. Highly recommended viewing material!
  24. Traveling up to Glasgow from Birmingham for a gig being the daft boys we were we had stopped and bought pea shooters and the dried peas to go with them, probably don't exist any more, but on the M6 we started shooting peas at lorries we passed only to get pulled by the police and charged with " discharging a missile on the queen's highway" got away with it but needless to say it didn't happen again.
  25. I've been looking for these online- they are an American product I believe- I've not bought them for a few years but I can't find them anywhere. There are a couple of expired ads on Reverb, but nothing else. Anyone know if these are still available?
