  1. Past hour
  2. The bandwidth of the tweeters is in high register, starting at 3500 Hz, so your 1950's 1" speaker in a crap transistor radio definition of the sound seems correct to me, but the volume should be quite high...
  3. Robin is a top bloke. Proof is in the thread below. Short story, he went out of his way to help out. I've caught up with him at a few shows and had a chat. His work is fantastic, really nicely made guitars and basses. https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/472237-fender-jazz-bass-1976-natural-ash-70s-vintage-sold/page/2/#findComment-4949210
  4. One careful owner from new. Mostly served as a backup. Industry standard vocal mic - grab a bargain at half new price! PS In case of doubt I have the sales receipt to prove this is a genuine Shure.
  5. I think it’s cool that. I had a Cimar guitar in the early 80s, it was a really nice player. Made by Ibanez?? Not sure, but that’s what I remember, but it was long time ago. Nice bass
  6. Bought a MTD Kingston Z4 bass from David on Friday. Lovely bass, looking forward to playing this at volume. Pleasure to do business with you sir. Thank you 😀🖖
  7. And excellent basses, the John Suhr 2 bands preamps is close to perfection, if it's equipped with it, of course.
  8. How the fan is used, the mechanical design, has in general more impact on the real world noise floor than the fan itself (assuming decent quality fans, and the same air flow + static pressure).
  9. I think we have too much choice. I really want a one pedal solution, but a cheap one, and a small one. Originally I was going to keep using my Microbass3, and add a multi FX like the 60+/Tonex one/HX one. That extra pedal would supply all the modulation/OD sounds. Id not nee dot run more than one at a time so it would be a nice set up. But then, the 60+ and Tonex One also have the amp sims, so in theory I don’t need the MB3, as they can do it all. Only of course there are always soigné to be something that stops this being a smooth ride. 60+ would be perfect if I real loved the tone. Maybe I'll get used to it. ToneX one is more hassle to use. It seems like id have to keep certain paths in sync as id have to have the amp with one effect, then another path h with amp and a different effect. Any tweaks I do to the amp will need to be propagated across to the other versions. HX one doesn't do amps so it's back to a 2 pedal solution, but it does have my much loved BDDI, and the function to switch between two versions would mean normal and OD sounds are sorted. I could i suppose add a Phaser to that. I know the MB3 doesn't do amps either, but I find the tones it does are great, and having all the knobs available makes it easy to use.
  10. Notice has ranged from hours to weeks. Most bands send far more songs than necessary. Biggest issue is usually odd arrangements, learn to anticipate on the fly. Expect up to about 30 new songs usually only 2 or 3 will be tricky. Simplification is ok e.g. a song with lots of minor variations, just play the basic line and maybe improvise. Gotchas are strange key choices and weird arrangements. Same pay as the band, no deductions, no expectation to chip in for rehearsal costs. Only dress code has been 'wear plain black', but don't wear something that draws attention from the band.
  11. For sale is my Studiologic SL73 MIDI Controller keyboard, complete with original power supply, sustain pedal (not shown in photos) and in original packaging. I also have a couple of 3D printed brackets which attach magnetically and can support a light laptop (MacBook 13" for example) and an iPad, which I'm happy to include. I bought this new in November 2024 and it's still in absolutely excellent condition, however I've recently started playing keys in a band and so I've upgraded to the newer version which has an audio interface built in so saves me taking a separate audio interface. Happy to send within the UK via Parcel Force for £10, or can be picked up in Cardiff. I could deliver within 5 miles of the CF14 postcode, and I also drive to Swansea a couple of times a week so I'd be happy to look at delivering in the SA7 postcode or close, or anywhere not too far off the M4 in between.
  12. Ah well Sterling it is then! I’ve not played a Sabre but always wanted one. It would be pointless me getting anything heavy. I’ll amend the trades. Thanks
  13. Absolutely and utterly beautiful!! Congratulations! You’re a lucky man!! I was smitten when I played one of Jon’s JJ CarbonLite models with the carbon fibre necks. A bass that if I could have, I’d have bought then and there, it was just delicious in every way. That man has golden paws. I’m hoping to one day have a Shuker P, I’ve a bunch of ideas that I’ve had lurking in my noggin for a while, that would also suit the viewers of my reviews too. Brilliant news @hiram.k.hackenbacker, I’m chuffed to bits I was able to help in a small way and your new bass is just what you’d hoped for 😊 I love to see others happy and winning at bass
  14. mmmm ...If your (sic) going to collect please pay cash in hand
  15. I tried the tonex one last night, but tried it after my dwarf (with an amp simulator) into an amp. It was a great sound but a bit too much for what I wanted. On its own it would be great. I am still tempted to make a small pedalboard, with a tonex one as the amp, and a va5 as the effects, and maybe a synth box. Only problem is that ultimately that doesn't give me anything that the ME90B does, which I use in practices now.
  16. Thanks, that’s really kind of you. I’ve already ordered one and looking at what it can do i think I’ll make good use of it even if i dont keep the 60+ I’ve alao ordered a Tonex one to try as well. While the 60+ is more what im looking for, i cant help want to see how the Tonex sounds, and with the controller i think it stands a better chance of doing the job.
  17. In Central Scotland gigs we even need to watch what colours we wear 😂 Dave
  18. Lovely Special. I'm sure lighter ones are out there but I had three Classic Sabres and the lightest was 10lb 😐
  19. Happy to post it for you to try it out.
  20. The case is legit Fender vintage, but not from 1969. It's a "no tail" logo with an R, and no "Made in USA" underneath the "Fe". That means 1972-1975. Also corresponds with the corner insert for the body.
  21. Today
  22. The very idea of deposing makes me shiver with fear. I’m not great at meeting new people, and I’m not the greatest bass player around - I can learn songs but it takes me a while, and I’ll simplify if I have to. I certainly can’t read music. I’ll stay in my comfort zone with the equally inept guys in my band 😜
  23. Very nice scoopdude
  24. Thank you - I can't find a Bossa bass anywhere in the UK. I have another Bossa guitar that was Brian Monroney's (Tom Jones etc) and it's my #1 💛
  25. I've just been playing around with my pedal board with the Veyron. I've a preamp pedal and a compressor pedal on it. I used to use them to for tone shaping. Absolutely redundant now (bar the tuner pedal). The Veyron sounds better without the pedals. I don't even have to adjust the tone controls on the amp either. Anyone want a pedalboard? 🤣🤣
  26. 1974-76 Diplomat Jazz bass - Made in Japan and looks to be similar to the Cimar 1905 model - but branded Diplomat who I think were a Kiwi brand? I had one of these years back and it was amazing. A really fun playable bass, that was just enjoyable to play. A mate took it off me and still uses it regularly. I've kept my eyes open for one ever since... spotted this, did it up with new bridge and fixed the wiring with two new pots and got it all set up and... It is a really fun playable bass and enjoyable to play... but unlike years ago I've got 3 other basses that do that jazz bass thing, including my main one, and I can just see this gathering dust... so offering it up for sale or trade, just to get money back £180 or trades The Good Its a fun bass to play It's pretty light weight Solid Ash body Mostly original and it really good condition for the age Nice vintage style sound The original bridges on these are evil things with sharp screws - it was also missing two parts - I replaced it with a Gotoh Sets up and intonate well Looks cool really nice neck to play Save money compared to an original 70's fender Comes with old sadowsky blue rounds AND a set of flats that came with it. The look, sound and feel like TI jazz flats I've got on my other bass but I'm only 95% sure they are - I'll set it up for you with either. The Bad From the era just before Japanese basses became accurate - so note the square heel and I think it's 33.5inch scale. Pickups are normal size but with the classic curved ends. So if classic Japanese basses aren't your thing and you are looking for a mod platform - it will do that but not be drop-in for fender parts. With where the bridge pickup was tucked close to the bridge to fit under the original cover, and with the Gotoh bridge being a fair bit longer it looks like the bridge and pickup are closer than a 34in fender bass. The bridge probably could go back a bit if you wanted. The Ugly It could probably do with shielding to get it quieter So it's a fairly cheap, fun, old bass. Anyone have any love for it? Trades... try me, P basses, Telecaster copies, jazz master, Microkorg or similar simple synth... I also seem to like trying effects pedals... .
