  1. Past hour
  2. Oh, the effects forum has reminded me of another - envelope filters with no reverse/downward sweep setting. Why would you want that? I get tired of the upwards quacky sound pretty fast, but the downwards "bowwwp!" like Bootsy on Chocolate City (or indeed, like the Grange Hill theme) is great fun and my sole reason for having one.
  3. Lots of things. P basses, J basses.. I guess fender basses. There is this whole 'you have to have one' but the P is like the Harley Davidson of the bass world, iconic, clunky and not that great The jazz is better but not that much. But yet I keep wanting a Jazz, buying it, realising it has too few strings to be useable and getting rid of it. Effects Pedals - they all basically do the same thing don't they, but they all have faults or are too expensive, or you just don't have the space for them Small mixers, like the flow 8 - too small and restrictive to do anything with, maybe unless you were keyboard players, with not many keyboards Iconic bass guitars - they are no better than the others, they just cost more and noone can tell the difference without using their eyes
  4. The only reason I swapped my Monaco for a Monza was weight and size.
  5. Having a Barrington levy day today, this is a favourite of mine, check out the mix and bass from 4.34
  6. I was 17 and took the frets out of my first bass, a Framus Star Bass, because I wanted more of a double bass sound. I took the bass to a gig that night and, for some reason, decided to wear sunglasses. It was so dark I couldn't see a thing and was far too cool to take the glasses off! I made so many mistakes that ,at the end of the gig, the rest of the band gave me a huge thumbs down. I've never gigged wearing sunglasses since!
  7. I stupidly made the board before measuring my pedals. I might make this my "small board" and make another to make the layout easier. I have some more PCBs for the power supply, so keep your eyes peeled in a month year or two.
  8. Out of interest, how does this apply to SS amps with a valve pre-amp? Is it only valves in the power stage and that need a load?
  9. Or as I did, retune it to F# (F# B E A D) - works well on my Sei!
  10. Totally understand this, can't stand him or his godawful band. If I want to watch a bunch of toothless, semi-naked gibbering smackheads making c**ts of themselves I'll just go into Cardiff city centre.
  11. It's only my resentment & hatred that lets me know I'm still alive. Without it I simply cease to exist.
  12. Every day is like Sunday - Captain Morrissey and the Fantastic Miserables
  13. Taking my wife and daughter to see Warrior Soul in 2 weeks. I've just been reminded.
  14. I’ve just bumped the sellers thread for the Warwick 5 string . Interesting to see the response. I am a tad surprised that nobody advised me to keep ,and downtune the bass I already have ..
  15. Never On Sunday - Melina Mercouri
  16. I suspect you are not the only one troubled by that particular memory. 😄
  17. Mmm…if you travelled to Dorset , I’d be in trouble I think . I have a Warwick 1996 corvette which I did list for sale , and kept changing my mind . It would have sold if I posted , and you seem to have the same problem . I’ve got a craving for the low B again. Anyway …Bump! 😀

  19. I think the lines are in the wrong place on mine
  20. It’s why I can’t play lined fretless 😂
  21. Many years ago at rehearsals with one band, I used to switch off the guitarist's fuzz box to get him to play stuff right and not hide the mistakes.
  22. True - if your amp isn't trying to boost inaudible low frequencies, then it won't clip unnecessarily and can be more efficient in amplifying useful frequencies and of course, you are protecting your speakers from those frequencies.
