Nice but quite steep for what is not much more than an extra 2” on a G2220 neck and a modified body shape. Good to have another reasonably priced medium scale around though.

An amicable band split - gave me an idea for a new thread:

SimonK started following Least amicable band split stories...

In another thread a forum member mentioned a band finishing with "everyone remaining chums". While I applaud this band for its maturity, I don't think I've ever had a band finish without never talking to at least someone again (which I fear says something about me...). My least amicable split was when we accidentally dropped a flight case on our singers tambourine that she referred to as her "instrument". In pennance the guitarist and I went to a music shop to buy her a new one but she didn't like the sound. Thus followed an argument along the lines of "but they all sound the same"... "no they don't"... "well you don't have to play it because it annoys everyone anyway"... etc. and the nickname "Jingle Bells" being coined. I think we only lasted one or two more gigs! I'm sure others can better this!

I have the previous model to this (IV) and I can honestly tell you that these are fantastic amps. On its own it'll handle any band rehearsal you throw it into. Live, I use mine in conjunction with a New York 121 cab (on which it stacks perfectly with the specially shaped corners) for a super loud 500W 2x1x12 stack. But I'm pretty sure the combo on its own would give it a right good go GLWTS

That's sad and happy at the same time Steve. Glad you've all remained the great friends you've always been. Makes sense. All the very best on 7th Oct. Should be a fantastic night with so much emotion. Dave

Why were older basslines so much more interesting?
Lozz196 replied to Stub Mandrel's topic in Theory and Technique
Mouldy Old Dough & Crazy Horses, loved them as a kid, and still do now. Used to do Crazy Horses in an old band, complete with the cross-legged dance thing they used to do. -
Don't they usually just put a room mic inside a rotting goat carcass?

I've heard the story of it being double-tracked with an acoustic bass for years, I'd never have guessed that by just hearing the song but I have always thought the bass on that song sounds different to the rest of the album. Rain When I Die and Rooster, for example, both sound like a regular Spector tone to me.

Been looking forward to this arriving! The Pill from Switzerland - sidechain compression / ducking effect. You can use the touch sensitive controls to trigger the effect, but I've got some patterns coming out Ableton that I'll send into the trigger input. Looking forward to seeing what it can do!!

Another one bites the dust! RIP Audere preamps.
Owen replied to TrevorR's topic in General Discussion
Sad times. I had a preamp of theirs which had a variable z (impedance) switch on it. I have no idea what it did technically, but it made my bass roar. I should have left that bass exactly as it was. -

Congrats Carlitos! Looks lovely. I played one at BassDirect a few years ago and really liked the snappy howl they produce. I really like dealing with Will at BassBros. Bought my KingBass Mk-II from him. -
Seems a slightly odd choice but whatever works... I've heard that some of the Finnish metal bands would use some ridiculous techniques with guitar tones. One was recording a guitar track with a tea-towel wrapped around the strumming hand. They would typically record as many different ways they could think of and mix and match to achieve the ultimate desired result.

And another vote for the TCE Spark Booster. I find its very transparent so doesnt change the tone too much, just adds a bit more depth.
