    I've had a Mintzer book for a long time and never looked at it. But, I'm starting to appreciate his work. I recently transcribed "Three Views of a Secret" from the "I remember Jaco" album with Jeff Andrews on bass.

    Ashdown are used professionally which to me says a lot about the brand and support. Orange is the same and Ampeg and I suspect others to some degree I know endorsement deals play a part but Ashdown offer awesome service and you don’t have to be the original owner either

    I've been using the joyo bass headphone amp for a year or so and have been very pleased with it, cost me just over a tenner on Amazon 👍

    Any heavy duty polyurethane castors Will do the job providing the hole centres on the plate lines up! I think I got mine from b&q when I had my old fridge ☺️ Apparently skateboard trucks do a good job as well and give a bit of extra leverage when you come up against the dreaded stairs!

    Something from the Bob Mintzer book. The tune is 'San Juan Shuffle' from the 1998 Mintzer Big Band album, 'Latin in Manhattan'. The bass player is Jay Anderson but he is just playing the part.     It does seem to me to be a core part of the British psyche to diss anything popular and / or successful. Having been on here since it was BassWorld, I soon noticed that any new thread posted about the Beatles, Stones, Ric basses, Wal basses etc will pretty much instantly attract a post(s) about how utter crap they are, as if it were a self-evident truth. There are some bands who if they're played on the radio I have to turn it straight off - UB40 come to mind - but I can appreciate why they'd appeal to a lot of people. Morrisey may well indeed be a complete dick, but to me he's a fantastic singer and talented songwriter. I'm generally not a huge fan of Wetherspoons, but whenever Mrs S and I go to Brecon we always have lunch at The George, an attractive and convivial 18th Century coaching Inn - and part of Wetherspoons. Haven't found anywhere better.....yet. I guess it would be a dull old world if absolutely everything -as that Paul Whitehouse character in the "Fast Show" was always saying - was Fantastic and Brilliant...... "Sugar sugar" famously offered to The Monkees of course, who refused it as saccharine commercial bollocks, then given to fictional cartoon band The Archies (session musicians I assume) who made it a massive global hit

    Gonna sort out my gear for tomorrows afternoon gig. Need to leave the house at 10am, Load in 11:15am doors open 1pm and on stage 2pm for 2 x 1hr sets including our Xmas songs. Its been advertised by the venue as their Xmas party event so all good fun. Its a Sold Out one too so that's even better. Early start means early finish. Should be home by 7pm via Indian takeaway. My first in over 4 weeks as on a 6 week weight loss plan from the gym but i'm allowed the occasional lapse the personal trainer said. 2 weeks to go. Lost 3Kg in the first 3 weeks but its levelled out now so need to reduce carbohydrates. I'll be 12st again. Not bad for an old Glam bassist. I burn as many calories at a gig as i do 1 session in the gym classes. The more gigs the healthier i get 😂 Dave

    Up for sale is my 2013 Ernie Ball Music Man Stingray Classic 4-string in Vintage Sunburst with a stunning AAA flamed / birdseye maple neck. This is one of the nicest figured Classic necks I’ve seen and the figuring runs all the way up the neck and headstock. Music Man confirmed the spec via their database (see screenshot) I’d conservatively describe as excellent but most people would use mint condition with only home practise use. No gigs, no marks, no issues. It plays beautifully, set up low with no buzz. Comes with some nice extras: Hipshot D-Tuner professionally fitted Original Music Man tuner included in the case Both black and white pickguards Original Music Man hard case Case candy (strap locks, keys etc) Specs 2-EQ Classic preamp Classic mute bridge in perfect working order Chrome hardware Weight: 4.5kg / 9.9 lbs These 2010–2014 Classics are becoming increasingly sought after, especially the ones with premium neck figuring. Prices are rising, and very few clean UK examples come up with this level of figuring. Only selling because I’m downsizing and moving to a Precision for home practice. Price £2,395. Folk are listing these with meh necks, damage and scratches and no extras like Hipshots and extra scratch plates on Reverb for more than this. Dealers would be way above this for a similar example. Open to sensible offers. Bass is located in Central Scotland handy for all major motorway networks, happy to meet within reasonable distance (I have rendezvoused with fellow Basschatters in the North of England before). Happy to discuss shipping with buyer, would prefer to remain within UK at this stage. Feedback I have excellent feedback on Basschat from many years on here, my latest deal being for my 78 Tony Franklin fretless with Beedster the forum legend who was delighted, so buy with confidence.     I have fancied one of these for a very long time. Happy Jack was selling one and I jumped. I have it set up at my weekly residency (church). As we are all aware, bass is never allowed to be loud enough anywhere. So as to keep a quiet stage we have moved to wired in ears and the drummer and I are sitting in front of the FOH feeling the LF as best we can. To make it more fun, my ears are shot so I have to wear earplugs to play. I was just listening through those. But sitting on a chair on the bass board is a total game changer. The volume does not go up, but the physical interaction is a lot more real. In the spirit of the BC self build cabs, I feel certain that people who are not DIY clueless could easily build their own ones. And also improve them by putting a plate amp in there. Just thinkin'......
