  2. My first suggestion would be to slap a battery in it, disconnect the daisy chan from it, then check to see if the noise has gone away. I’d suggest this just to avoid buying a new power supply only to found out the pedal had some kind of fault. Boss pedals tend to play really nice on a daisy chain, so my gut tells me it’s another pedal causing the issue, even if it’s the Boss unit that’s presenting the noise. Assuming the batter does away with it, most isolated power supplies should work for you. Not all are created equal though, and some of the more expensive ones (like Cioks) really do an amazing job of filtering out noise and protecting against various issues, as well as being able to run each outlet at different voltages. That said though, many cheaper ones will do fine for you, especially if you don’t have a huge pedalboard or multiple different voltage requirements.
  3. Can anyone assist? I have an active bass, that I was doing some work on…. I needed to put it face down on a raised surface, and that raised surface was an upturned speaker, with a giant magnet on the back… so, after resting the bass on the speaker, on its pickups….. 🤦🏻‍♂️, it now doesn’t work. I assume that the magnet has affected the polarity of the magnets in the pickups? Anything I can do to reverse the damage?
  4. Oh great, that's what we need - another southerner Only teasing, welcome from the NE arse end of civilization.
  5. Have you played a 32" scale before?
  6. Love a medium scale. Lots of options if you look. And, erm, #shamelesplug 👀
  7. I looking for some advice on buying a medium scale bass. From what i have found these are quite rare to find and my options seem to be: A : Buy a new ish medium scale: MTD Kingston Lynn Keller, Fender Player Mustang, Maruszczyk ( if I could find one ) Max budget would be around £1000 so other boutique offerings would be too expensive B: Buy a "Vintage" 32in bass. Aria Pro II RSB, Ibanez Roadstar II RB830, Fender Aerodyne, etc etc. Seems like I can get something for around £700. I'm a little nervous about this as it will be a 30+ year old bass and would it require more money to sort out any problems. Thanks for any advice.

  10. Do this. Or even potentially, get you existing cab closer to being in line with your ears. If you need more volume for FOH then maybe not, but if your amp is prety much just for on stage, then you probably have enough volume already, its just not directed at you adequately. It's advice I got decades ago and it still stands up today! I've no scientific evidence to back this up, but I think thats why 8x10s tend to sound brilliant... there's speakers in pretty much ear height so you're hearing the amp better. 2 2x10s stacked vertically, or a single vertical 2x10 raised to ear heigh does the same job, kind of.
  11. Hey folks! I'm considering buying an isolated power supply for my pedal board, as my Boss ODB-3 seems to have a lot of background noise (not to do with pedal settings, just a high pitched noise) which I believe is due to me running it off a daisy chain supply. Just wondered if any of the 'budget' ones are any good or not? Surely an isolated power supply is an isolated power supply? Thanks, Oli
  12. Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness - Smashing Pumpkins
  13. Used it properly last night, it's very useful; no more digging around in the depths of a rucksack for leads which, no matter how well you coiled and tied at the end of the night, still seem able to turn into Indiana Jones' pit of snakes in between gigs and auto-tangle. Another kinda small thing, but useful: it's designed to sit upright, which again makes things easier to delve into. The zips are waterproof/resistant, too, which the constant downpour off the Pennines tested in Rammy last night. I'm giving it 10/10, price notwithstanding...if it lasts as long as my last one, it'll work out about £8 a year...
  14. Well, those who know me will find this surprising..... I just ordered a Sire bass ! This is the one, a P5R in natural - https://www.thomann.co.uk/marcus_miller_p5r_alder_4_nt.htm It will mainly be for jams and to carry as a spare on gigs. Fingers crossed it's not too heavy. Rob

  17. I would refer that one to @agedhorse. Perhaps worth starting a thread in Technical and Repairs.
  18. ...is this the same 32-piece laminated neck, or one-piece? i can't tell from the picture, actually
  19. I’ll be first - Fender V3 Rumble combo.
  20. Wow 😮
  21. That’s a belting job! Nice work
  22. That’s stunning 👌
  23. Surplus to requirements- useful EQ, good compression, big drive and mute switch. What is handy is the tuner out too. Can switch off LED blue lights on top knobs. Threshold LED not working built like a tank - heavy enough to be stand alone. Velcro if for board. postage £5 UK
  24. I was similar when in Knock Off, only used the 410 & 210 on a couple of occasions, the 410 being more than enough and as it was on wheels easier to shift than the 210.
  25. Wilcock 4P-51 (2023 Model) Mint condition, 2023 build. Handmade by Viv Wilcock, who is a legend and a total genius when it comes to building short-scale instruments. This bass plays beautifully, sounds huge, and shows Wilcock’s trademark craftsmanship in every detail. Short scale, lightweight, super comfortable Comes with a Hiscox hard case Mint condition – hardly played Built by one of the UK’s most respected boutique luthiers Only selling to fund a new acoustic — absolutely gutted to let this one go.
  26. Skint is a state of mind. If you still have 2 viable kidneys, you're not genuinely skint in bass-player terms.
