  4. What? My local "The Welly" passes a full blown wellington boot about for the cash and have a card tap attached to it, AND the beer goes up by 10% at 8pm whenever musicians play as a "help the starving musician levey" which is clearly advertised and no one balks at it cos free entry for ever.
  5. +1^^ for me. Very happy to recommend the Nux. Sounds like a great approach and look forward to your findings!

Chase Bliss Blooper would do it. For more than a Tensor!
  7. You don't adjust parameters from the device; you use your phone to do that. It is very convenient.
  8. Could you please check the message on eBay from Vladislav Ladkor?
  9. Pino Palladino's stuff with Paul Young, loved that tone, wore out the C90 of that album. That was a gateway onto Mick Karn, then Geddy, then Doug wimbish. Jonny
  10. Squire P Bass and Sterling MMSR, very good condition - decent entry level or modding basses. Both been kept as occasional back ups, but have lived in gig bags for ages now. Squire was bought new and SR used, not seen many of the gloss black ones! £250 each or can do deal for both. Collection only, about 10 miles from Chester M56 - meet possible.

  11. Sorry, spelt his name incorrectly. . . . still isn't Emilio Castillo. . . . he's not black. Doesn't look like Doc Kupka either, but this was a long time ago, so I'm less certain about that.
  12. Same here. A lot of bass players make the mistake, imho obviously, of pushing too much LF. If you let the kick drum supply the oomph and concentrate on providing the notes on the bass, the result is much tighter and more musical. It does depend, of course, on the bass and kick drum being in sync.
  13. A 2 x 8 cab wouldn't be enough for me. I did a duo restaurant gig last month, with a guitarist singer, and I took a 110. With a drummer the smallest rig I'd use would be 2 x 110's or a good 112. I also use one or two 110's at home. You can always turn down, but turning up doesn't always work.
  14. 100% And the parallel is that AI can't fake a live performance by a human band, which is what audiences want. They can already listen to a Jukebox if they wanted. So whilst I fear for the future of the aspiring song writer in my band, who's working on his 4th album, I'm very glad we can be out at gigs each week doing something we love.
  15. It's bizarre, isn't it. Their tape measures don't even have cm/mm on them...
  16. If my FM9 goes then maybe 😂
  17. Loving that, amazing
  18. A major university in London started to move towards course work instead of sitting exams. Now they're moving back to the exam room due to the amount of AI students were submitting as their own work!! We're also seeing smart watches being used for cheating in exams, alongside multiple phones secreted in socks and anywhere else they can think of. I guess technology has always been used for cheating, but these days it's being used by students on an industrial scale. AI is a powerful tool for good and bad, depending on the person using it.
  19. Today
  20. If, for example, AI had written At Last for Etta James to sing or Can't help falling in love performed by Elvis, would we have listened? Will the audience care who wrote the song if hearing it gives them joy? Or is it just taking us back to the time pre Beatles when 95% (I'm guessing here!) of leading performers had their song material provided for them? And 100% of covers and tribute bands do today. Is the situation different to Henry Ford inventing the production line and taking work away from skilled workers who could put a whole engine together from scratch?
  21. The Molotovs at the Black Prince in Northampton. Energetic 3-piece playing short, sharp punk-pop tunes infused with elements of the Jam and the Libertines. The long-awaited album finally comes out on Friday. Third time I've seen them and they are a real tight unit. Always stick a cover or two into the set, this time Bowie's Suffragette City and a superb Martha and the Vandellas' Heatwave.

This guy does it here as well. The whole two videos are worth watching. He does some lovely stuff. https://youtu.be/9X2NB--FRFw?si=RuyoS2yE6Y9XPdYH&t=335
  23. Still using live and buying for VBR stock. This one is Ex Led Zeppelin, what a rig! For anyone who’s tried a Wallace, they know what I mean 👌👌👌 1967 and off to the US of A
  24. Matt bought an Olympus digital camera from me and was very easy to deal with.. super quick payment and a smooth transaction - thanks Matt!
  25. It doesn't help that "AI" has become a catch-all term for asking a large language model or neural network to carry out a task, and I suspect this obfuscation is deliberate. Still, there's obviously a world of difference between people using one of these models to help with an awkward task (e.g., sort out the phase on these tracks, separate these tracks I accidentally bounced) and the people who put a prompt into Suno, get a three-minute pop song back out and start squealing "OMG I done a music!" To that latter group: I read somewhere about a teacher who refused to read AI-generated essays from their students, saying "if you couldn't be bothered to write it, why should I bother to read it?" Personally, I feel the same way about AI-generated songs.
  26. If I were to build another compact/nano board, I'd get a DCX and Luce too!
