    I like that you avoided fully shielding the scratchplate and instead just ensured continuity at the key contact points — that’s a more targeted approach than lining everything with copper. That’s a really clever solution

    I have had Kent Armstrong Hot Vintage P alnico in my Precision parts bass before and even though I thought they sounded great, I thought i could find better. So I've tried multiple Fender, DiMarzio, Nordstrand, Seymour Duncan, Fralin etc etc pickups and I'm going back to the cheap KA. It has all the p-bass attributes you need. That's just my opinion and to my ears, but for the cheap price, why not give them a shot? You won't be disappointed. Just play with that tone knob and you'll find the sound you want. If not, tweak a little on your amp. 👍🏽

    16 years later......is anyone still rocking the Kent Armstrong Hot Vintage P? I have a set ready to go back in my parts precision. I've tried all sorts of different pickup brands "Fender, DiMarzio, Nordstrand, Fralin, SD etc and I still rate the cheap KA Hot Vintage P alnico my favorite. With flats, running through my Genz Benz heads and Mesa 215 cab....I'm in sonic heaven 👌🏽

    For sale is my TC Electronic GMajor-2 multi effects unit in fully working condition and updated to the latest firmware. Pictures show it in its usual rack home (rack not included). Although most of the standard effects are aimed at the guitarist I have found the compressor, gate, flanger, phaser and octaver (up and down) etc. to be very useable for bass. I can either factory reset before shipping or leave the presets I have created intalled. It has built in EQ, noise gate, compressor, reverbs, delays, wahs, octaver, tremolo, phaser, flanger etc each of which can be switched in / out from the front panel as required. I have been using this via my amps effects loop and found the compressor (and all the effects) just add their effect without changing the fundamental sound of the bass. Comes with original box and operating manual. You can use the unit in your DAW as well as with your bass / guitar etc. Patches can be easily selected from the front panel or attach a midi-pedal (I used a MidiMoose). There is also some Vyzor software you can download from the net which allows you to interface your PC with the GMajor-2 to edit and backup your user patches.     Yeah, that’s pretty much the only currently viable business model. I see that particular path to fame as the opposite of creative integrity, but I get it’s the only option they have at the moment. I’m not sure if it’s a viable career route for most young creatives. The talent is definitely out there but their choices are very limited. Ultimately the financial success of the creatives of that generation will determine how much longer NI and similar software companies will be supported, and if those finances are dependent on the social media platforms that are actively using every upload on their platforms to train their AI - which is designed to devalue and obfuscate original, human made creative work - it’s basically a trap. It’s tough times for gen z, they’re going to have to make some pretty drastic moves collectively if they want to escape that trap, but I do see some signs that things are beginning to shift at least.
