  2. Danelectro Sold, Open to offers to shift on the Jam Pedals
  3. I've got an old Morphy Richards convector heater. It's rated at 2kw. Doesn't half chuck out some heat. I reckon it would be ideal if you want lots of clean power. Should certainly get those cones flapping. Perhaps even smoking. PM me if interested and we can discuss.
  4. Hi, is your bass still available?
  5. I really like this. It’s like a little slice of the Microcosm (and similar pedals) boiled down to its simplest form. I could absolutely make use of this on my ambient board.
  6. I 2nd the Gretsch shout. I picked up a used but basically brand new one from BassBros for £245 and it’s been the best money I’ve ever spent. I'm regularly on the lookout for one of these (since you posted the picture of your white one) but they rarely pop up from my searches.
  7. Shame he doesn't allow walk-ins to try stuff out first. I'm only up the road from him in north London as well. That's what he told me when I last contacted him.
  8. Mmm gherkinburst over congealed salad cream. 😁
  9. Moe Foster did some articles in the 90s Bassist magazine, as far as I can remember his Jazz bass looked fairly conventional. He did say the ebony fingerboard had come from a double bass, but presumably it had had been cut down to normal Jazz bass proportions. edit; OK, in the link it looks to have a somewhat extended fingerboard, but not so much that it only had room for one pickup, maybe 2 octaves or so?
  10. Another Watanabe/Gwizdala moment, the tune is 'Perfect Water' from the 2011 recording 'Tricoroll'. Horacio Hernandez completes the trio on drums. You have got a chance with most of this as there is nothing too crazy going on. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/perfect-water-kazumi-watanabe/

  13. Perhaps if copying a proven design, but even then the economies of scale are against you. Now if there is no value assigned to labor, and you already have the tools, the gap is closer, but it's the "proven design" part of the equation that makes a difference IME. There's also the cost of developing the design and building prototypes that's often (conveniently ignored), but by ignoring even the minimal cost of design, labor, quality hardware, testing and wasted materials, then yes it can appear to be less expensive. There are also the DYI designs that, due to inexperience or lack of understanding, become "amp killers" due to not understanding reactive load limits in amps when it comes to crossover design, that bring hidden costs to the table. Yes, I run into this often enough, especially from the OCD crowd that thinks that every crossover needs multiple Zobel networks without any consideration for what ends up being lumped resonant tank circuits. This is just my experience, based on what I have seen over the (many) years.

  17. Same, but Friday. Enjoy!
  18. Will do £195 if sold by weekend. If not, it'll just stay in the house as the worlds craziest house amp...
  19. Well I'm very impressed that they are using thick cable. If I had a trace I would definitely be following your fine example!
  20. That bass was Gibson's attempt to take on the increasingly sophisticated bass designs that were emerging by the mid-to-late '70's. They did a good job in so many ways, as the sublime tone of those basses proves. It's one of the best sounds for heavy rock/ alternative music ever in my opinion. However, as was not at all uncommon at that time, comfort and playability for the poor sod who had shelled out all that money were not really considered at any stage of the design process. So you ended up with a bass where the reach to the first fret was so far away it was in another post code and you needed the services of an orthopedic surgeon after playing a 45 minute set standing up with it.
  21. If you liked the Black Panel, I highly recommend the Shift Line Olympic (its (multiple and swappable) cab sims are defeatable). @tayste_2000 has a brand new one for sale.
  22. I bought a scratchplate and pup cover for my MM Sterling from Dave. Arrived in quick time, as new and superbly packaged. Great price too. Thanks Dave.
  23. If this doesn't sell soon I think I might part it out. Shame to do that but if anyone is interested in individual parts please let me know and I can look into that. Ta
  24. I’m really interested to hear more reviews on this, and thanks for those who have shared. I’ll likely hold off until I get more of a sense of other’s opinions. I ended up moving my Black Panel on. I always preferred the tone out of the 1/4” rather than the DI as the non-defeatable cab sim just killed the dynamic range and feel, meaning that my JF Capo easily supplanted it on my board. Two years on and the Capo for me is still the very best preamp I’ve owned so it’ll take something special to swap it out. Given Origin seem to have paid attention to their target market feeling the same and have introduced a proper switch to address the cab-sim, I’m very tempted by this one. I happened to really love the squashy compression of the Black Panel so it’s also interesting to hear from feedback that this sounds a lot ‘quicker’ with less of that natural compression.
  25. I'll take it at £7 and even pay postage on top 🙃
