Really cool bass, enjoy it! I love the clank with rounds, but I've recently (4 years ago, so recently in terms of the life span of flats!) put TI Jazz Flats on my Ric and love them.

Same here, great little bits of kit that will easily cover a gig if needed

I get that it’s a way of changing sounds, but for me it’s all about finding an amp you really like the sound of in the first place. Personally I don’t get buying an expensive pre when you could get another amp for the same outlay. I think that if you have to run one as well as your amp then you need to maybe reconsider which amp you use.

Loved the gigs at The Dolls House, great venue, that`s a real shame that it`s closed.
-
Absolutely. I carry mine as a last resort really, just to see me through the gig. I use an amp for the consistency of sound , and for the gigs I do relying on just the PA / potentially dodgy (or non existent) monitors isn’t an option.

denki109 started following Gretsch Junior Jet Bass - Black - Short Scale

These punch well above their weight. Mike Kerr from Royal Blood used one all over their first album. The neck is slim and fast. The colour is ‘none more black’. The truss rod works as it should. The frets are in great shape. The pickups, which are single coils btw, are high output but articulate. Short Scale (30.3) it is a fab instrument. And fun to play. And records beautifully. Collection from East London. or Meet within the confines of the M25 or I can send it, you’ll just need to arrange the courier.

Dolls House was two-thirds empty when I played it. Had another date booked a few months later, but it had closed by then 😧

Carrying a DI/pre-amp is all very well, but unless you actually test it at a gig all you have is a theory.
-
Not an Adrian Mole fan then? 😁

Third session with the drummer and guitarist, second with our multi instrumentalist sax/ keys player. It's coming together nicely, of course song endings where the originals have fade outs and tricky bridge sections are a bit ragged but the core foundations of all the songs on the list are there. Meeting up every second week feels good for learning songs thoroughly and at our own pace. Having a live sax player in the room doing "the heat is on", "Maneater" and "careless whisper" is just bliss. Singer options are drying up, we really only have one so we are putting a lot of hope into this one guy... Having said that, the guitarist's girlfriend has sung at the last two sessions. She's never sang with a band before or through a mic and though she's sometimes a bit flat, etc. she is better than a lot of cover band singers I hear. So we always have her on hand! We are going to book a gig in for early January to put fire under our feet to get sorted with a solid set list and get tighter as a unit. There's a venue we know well, we will offer to do it for free on a random night so it's kind of a soft launch/ pressurised rehearsal.

Well I don’t intend to stop using my own backline and part of the fun is buying new gear 😃 It’s easy to buy an additional amp more so for a change but as a backup it’s where do you draw the line However Pre amp pedals seem to be all the rage these days hence my question if this is the way forward?

These do look interesting... Love the form factor of my EHB 6er. Would love to have a play to assess the multi-scale curvature and the sound of course. Look great too:

For sale is a set of Rotosound Swing Bass 66 extra long strings for a 5 string bass. They are too long for my bass. Bought in error as I thought I needed the extra length as the bass is a through-body design. Tghe packet has been opened hence why I cannot return them Standard gauge - 45 60 80 105 103. £25 £20 including postage anywhere in UK

One of the first things they did was reinstate the Fender headstock on the Charvel guitars and the Phil Collen signature, which I think was a cool move because they had sent them the dreaded cease and desist letter over that earlier . And the distribution through Fender's network saved a LOAD of costs too. I know because I had just bought a brand new Japanese-made Jackson DK2 guitar for €1039 and had to watch Fender drop the prices down to just €650 while adding genuine Seymour Duncans and black hardware to the model and retaining the factory in Japan when mine had Duncan Designed pickups

Bought in the hope i could get away with 30 all valve watts but unfortunately not. Brand new JJ EL84’s fitted and comes with a spare set of EH valves. Really nice amp and tone to die for - if i could have this tone with more power id be in heaven! Collection from Bolton or could do a meet up. Could cut a deal if you want the ABM 4x10 ive also advertised on here. Would consider part ex for a Cali 76 Bass compact

I see nothing to indicate anything more than cosmetic changes to the hardware, everything is done in software.

I'll see what I can do for you pal... Out of interest, has anyone had any success just putting a boost after the OC2 and kicking them in at the same time? I hate tap dancing but it seems less likely to result in a broken OC2!

Agreed. Any EQ fix for a poor sounding room might make it better where you are stood, but it is guaranteed to make it sound worse elsewhere. There was place I used to play regularly where the biggest improvement to the FoH sound (and that's the important one) was achieved not by any EQ fiddling but by simply drawing the curtains to cover the large windows that ran all the way down one side of the room.
