  2. 9 VDC from a PSU is power, from a battery not so. Such a battery can push 300 - 500 mA for a pretty short time. Capacity is up to 800 mAh if the current is low, like under 10 mA. Raise the draw and the capacity will be lower. Current draw while the unit is ON is one thing. But during power up phase a pedal may draw substantial amount of current. Digital units are usually worse than analog ones. If the current draw in the power up phase is very high, the battery most likely is not able to push adequate current to the unit.
  3. I’m up against mr travis and his all-consuming GEAR maw no chance, I see that bass being dragged to a Manchester address, probably leaving scratch marks on the pavement as it is sucked in like some poor dachshund caught in a wizard of Oz style tornado Briefly. 😛 I Wish I could buy this. GLWTS
  4. Can you post pics of your control & pickup cavities and your wiring? Are you able to check that the shielding is continuous with a multimeter, also using the multimeter to check that everything in the loom that should be grounded is also continuous? I can post some info on how to do this, but if you prefer to be hands-off, take the bass back to your luthier and tell him it is still humming.
  5. Everything is different in Switzerland: I got a Mesa 400+ and a quality 4x10". One of the best rigs I've ever played. And chocolate, and cheese, and...
  6. The Murray strat is basically a recreation of his Kossoff strat- and indeed the world slavery era
  7. Bought a few CDs from mickeyboro A fast delivery, with great comms, and a nice transaction.
  8. My trusted luthier shielded the bass about a year and a half ago... I really don't think that's the problem because he's very experienced and well-known here in my city... I don't know if he would mess things up like that. But I also have a slight feeling that changing the pickup won't solve the problem... The problem is that I've already bought the pickup. 😵😵😵
  9. I bought the Levy transmitter pouch that fits on your strap. Great thing. Dave
  10. Dude, honestly? Three luthiers told me it's well shielded... it can't be that.

  12. This, completely. I gave up being arsey about bass rigs years ago. Bring your own board, of whatever configuration, and your tone is there instantly - but make sure it is actually doing what you want, and doesn't have any stupid level jumps. Then, the amp is nothing more than foldback and, while obviously better if it's good, you know you're sending the right signal to FOH. Also, most FOH engineers will thank you. They'll get your sound with minimum effort which, when you're not carrying your own FOH engineer, is the name of the game.
  13. High quality fuzz with some great sounds including Velcro tearing gated fuzz for some synthy action plus more traditional fuzz noises. In the original box with some feet and a sticker. Velcro’d on the bottom plus free of charge carpet fluff. I’m trying to free up cash for a BassRig 15 so not a massive interest in trades / part-ex unless there’s a Cioks DC7 or a GigRig QMX4 involved.
  14. Off the top of my head, Vester was a 90s/00s Korean brand of nice quality midrange instruments, which attracted the ire of Fender for obvious reasons, when you look at their logo & the high incidence of Fender copies in their range! Never owned one but always had massive GAS for their swoopy-looking Argus bass. There was one on here for £100 for ages, back when I didn't have £100...

  18. Definitely US. This came from a parts bass made by a Sadowsky employee. No real markings on it to identify as such. The pickups were scrubbed out and headstock left blank for fear of repercussions. I still have the neck - Brazillian rosewood fingerboard, Graphtech nut, Schaller tuners.
  19. I have developed a new habit since I retired 18 months ago. I say yes. Someone invites me for a walk? Come to a concert? Visit a friend? Go shopping in Asda with Mrs Dinger? Go to a meal with 30 people that i don't know? Yes. At most, it is 2 hours out of my life, and it makes people happy. And often, it makes me happy too! As Steve Cropper reminded us, Time is Tight.
  20. It's this kind of dedication that makes Basschat what it is
  21. We aren't going to change the situation so we have to navigate through it. Learn how to use one of these (or something similar) and stick it in your gigbag. Stick a jack into the effects return of the PoS house rig, tell the FoH demigod that the box provides a fundamental part of the band's sound and off you go. Or, if he can't see/hear you, get one your bandmates to tell him. The last time I did this was about a month ago, HX Stomp (rather than DP) as feed to FoH through a TRS-XLR male. I didn't even use the house rig, the foldback was good enough.
  22. Listening to the hum at the end of the above vid, I agree with Jean-Luc re making sure the bass is fully shielded before replacing the pickup.
  23. I'm finally using my Line 6 G-30 correctly. I use to keep my transmitter in my front pants pocket. Now I have a strong peice of velcro on the back of my guitar strap and on the back of the transmitter. Daryl
